1 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2016

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Pilot. While driving approximately 40 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but the brakes failed and the passenger side caliber was smoking. The contact had to restart the vehicle to release the brakes. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake pads, calibers, master cylinder, and emergency brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

2 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Pilot. The contact was driving approximately 60 mph when the brakes engaged independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised the contact that the vehicle stability assist (vsa) master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Prior to the failure, the brake switch was replaced. The manufacturer was contacted but they offered no assistance to the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. The VIN was unavailable.

3 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2005

2005 Honda Pilot ex with less than 500 miles on it. . ~90% brake failure on vehicle on two occasions. . . 06/15/2005 and 06/24/2005. Taking to Honda of concord (concord nc) to be reviewed. . . May or may not repair depending on if they can "duplicate" the problem but are aware of some cases of the master cylinder going completely out for a "moment". Alerting you all in case this happens to others and to have on record.
