1 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2016 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/17/2020

Check engine light (cel) appears, randomly when parked or in motion, indicating a problem with emissions system. Cel began to appear at approximately 77,000 miles. Car now has over 85,000 miles. I purchased the vehicle used, when it had 68,000 miles. I have never driven outside of the u. S. . Cel appears at various speeds between 0 and 60 mph. When in motion and cel is displayed, engine hesitation occurs causing me to increase vehicle speed and engine rpm to ensure I have sufficient power complete a turn, pass another vehicle, or make it up a hill. I am never sure I will have enough power. Additionally, the mileage economy display changes from shades of green to solid white. Cel remains visible on dashboard until it randomly disappears. Cel will remain lit ranging from 30 minutes to several days and disappear at various speeds. When it disappears, engine hesitation stops and economy display returns to shades of green depending on whether accelerating or decelerating. I first believed it to be a problem with the fuel tank cap. However, the cap is a hinged flap that returns to the closed position after I have finished refueling. I predominantly use e87 octane with ethanol. But e89 fuel makes no difference because the cel and hesitation randomly still occur. I have not taken to a repair shop because I have not had the opportunity to when the cel is displayed. The repair shop stated they can only diagnose when the cel is displayed. . Read more...

2 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2012 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/22/2020

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that his check engine light had illuminated upon start of his vehicle. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he discovered that there was a fuel leak coming from the fuel tank. The mechanic then replaced the vapor canister vent valve as well as the gas cap and the purge valve. Despite the mechanic's repair, the failure persisted. The mechanic then linked his failure to NHTSA campaign number :12v063000 (fuel system, gasoline) and informed him to contact Honda about the recall. The contact called betten baker Honda(2501 henry st, muskegon, mi 49441) where he was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and was given the same information as the dealer. The contact was offered no further assistance from the manufacturer. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 108,185. Jo.

3 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2017 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/29/2019

Vehicle fuel pipe ruptured during start-up on two occasions, leading to fuel leaks in engine compartment and above fuel tank while driving away from parked position. Ruptures were attributed to rodents damaging plastic fuel pipe sections. Failure #1: 7,232 miles, plastic pipe elbow high up in engine compartment. Failure #2: 15,624 miles, plastic tube above fuel tank. Honda wrapped replacement parts with rodent pepper tape but does not offer a guaranteed solution to this vulnerability. The fuel pipe leading from the fuel tank to engine appears to be mostly aluminum with plastic connectors at the ends. The fuel tank under the middle of the car and fuel hose bracket in the engine compartment both provide perching places for mice. Mice nibble on the nearby plastic fuel pipes and the pipes suddenly rupture when the fuel system is pressurized fuel spills in the engine compartment and above the exhaust system onto the ground until the engine is stopped. Damaged etfe plastic fuel tube manufactured by sanoh for Honda is available for inspection upon request.

4 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2013 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 10/05/2015

"check gas cap" light repeatedly illuminates. Dealers and mechanics say "tighten gas cap" or replace. Does not solve problem. Problem is fuel pump creates high pressure and when excess fuel goes through pressure regulator, fuel flashes to vapor; tank loses vacuum and warning illuminates, driver stops car in traffic to check, causing safety problem. Hundreds of complaints on internet. Honda should be required to fix the problem.
