Honda Pilot owners have reported 103 problems related to seat belt (under the seat belt category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Honda Pilot based on all problems reported for the Pilot.
The middle-right passenger seatbelt does not properly register as engaged on the dashboard indicator. When a passenger buckles in, the system fails to show that the seatbelt is latched.

For the middle row, right passenger seat, the seat belt alert (visual and audio alert) goes off even when the passenger is properly buckled in. It is intermittent. This is a safety issue as the alert keeps beeping throughout the journey. The beeping can be very distracting when driving due to the noise, and also as it raises concern of safety. My workaround is not to use that seat (an inconvenience), or use the seat without a seatbelt buckled in (safety). Dealership dismissed it as a non-issue as they could not replicate it because the issue is intermittent. The vehicle is out of the bumper-to-bumper warranty thus discovery and fixing the issue (if there is any) will be out of my pocket. I have seen others mention this issue so it is not isolated to my car but rather to this model and year.

When the safety belt is buckled in the middle row seat with people sitting there, the system shows the safety belt isn't buckled and warning alert sounds some times. It is very annoying. The dealership hasn't part to replace it.
Safety concern: 2023 Honda Pilot – persistent false seat belt warnings (2nd & 3rd row seats) issue description: repeated false seat belt warnings originating from: second-row middle seat third-row passenger-side seat the system triggers loud, repetitive auditory alerts and dashboard warnings even when seats are unoccupied or belts are properly buckled. Attempted fixes (unbuckling/rebuckling, restarting the vehicle, power cycles) fail to resolve the issue. Alerts recur intermittently, causing significant distraction. Safety risks: driver distraction: constant false alarms increase crash risk by diverting attention from the road. Alert fatigue: occupants may ignore all seat belt warnings due to repeated false positives, compromising safety. Sensor/system failure: indicates potential defects in seat occupancy sensors, wiring harnesses, or body control module (bcm) software affecting multiple seating zones. Expanded scope: affects critical seating positions (2nd row middle is common for child seats; 3rd row is high-traffic). Issue emerged immediately post-warranty (typically 3 years/36k miles).
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that the driver's seat belt and the rear passenger’s side seat belt located in the second and third rows were inoperable. The contact stated that the seat belt failed to function properly and would not latch correctly. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 204,000.

The seatbelt was either not assembled properly or installed incorrectly. The strap that’s on the wall does not have a metal piece to buckle into the latch that is in the seat crease. So there is no functional seatbelt on the rear passenger side on the third row.
‘23 Pilot will signal an alarm stating I have an unsecured passenger in my middle row (while my passenger is properly secured via the seatbelt). If my passenger pushes or jiggles the seatbelt at the clasp (where is latches together at the seat), it will turn off for a moment and then begin again. I’m not sure if this is a wiring issue, sensor issue or defective part, but this seems like a safety issue.
The seat belt on the driver's side is too short. I can barely get it to fasten and when I do I have no ability to move. I can't lean forward to look for traffic, light changes, etc. This seems to be a problem as I went on a Honda forum and others experience the same issue.

The vehicle is reporting an error on the display. "supplemental restraint system problem. See your dealer" a quick google search in Honda Pilots forum confirms numerous vehicles experienced this same issue. Seems like we have multiple failures for tge air bag or restraint systems.
While driving in the city a warning came up on the dash stating "supplemental restraint system problem. See your dealer. " and the red seat belt/air bag symbol turned on and remained on for the remainder of the drive home (about 45 min at variable speed). As soon as I got home I turned the car off and back on and the warnings disappeared. I drove the vehicle for another 30 minutes and the warnings did not re-appear. However, I noticed that the seat belts used to tighten / lock while the vehicle was in d (drive) but they no longer do. I also tried performing a hard stop in a safe area to see if the belt would lock while my body was jolted forward but it did not. The vehicle had 6 passengers when the warning first came on and all of us experienced loose belts. This makes me concerned about the functionality of the restraint system, especially in the event of a crash.
The back right passenger seat belt indicator is continuously beeping even when engaged . This appears to be a loose wiring in below the buckle as you can move the section around to temporarily stop it.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that the driver’s side seat belt failed to lock securely in the buckle. The contact called the dealer who was unable to schedule an appointment to diagnose the vehicle until January. The contact was notified of NHTSA campaign number: 23v782000 (seat belts) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

I heard a loud pop come from under my driver's seat and the seat started rocking backwards. I got out of my car and checked underneath the seat. The front-left bracket securing the seat to the seat frame had completely sheared in half and the seat was no longer securely attached to the seat frame. This is a significant safety issue. When the car accelerates the driver's seat rocks backwards by ~45 degrees, making it extremely difficult to stay in control of the vehicle and safely steer the vehicle. It is also extremely unsafe in the case of an accident because a) the seat would not hold the driver securely in place, b) the driver would not be properly in position and restrained for the air bags to deploy, c) the seat belt is attached to the seat base and would not be able to fully function properly, and d) any passengers sitting in the 2nd row behind the driver's seat would be in danger of having the full force of the driver and the driver's seat slamming back against them. This is a known issue widely reported in Honda Pilot owners' forums. Yet Honda has not issued a recall. I took the vehicle into a Honda dealership to inspect the issue. They said that Honda no longer makes the part that would be required to fix this safety issue. This issue affects all 2003-2008 model year Honda Pilots. There were over 800,000 2003-2008 model year Pilots sold and because of Honda vehicle's longevity there is a massive number of these vehicles still on the roads.

I have a 2014 Honda Pilot, and while driving on the road, the car started to violently shake, and the engine turned off. The inspection from dealer indicated code p0303- misfire cylinder due to fouled #3 spark plug caused by worn piston rings. The spark plug was found to be melted. Honda quoted $4000 to fix the issue, and the concern is that the 2014 model could have also been included in the 2013 and earlier models. It appears that Honda has requested dealers to send in reports if this particular issue has been identified. Even though the dealership was aware of the diagnosis, they have not offered to cover the repairs for this known issue on previous models of Pilots. Instead, they are offering to buy back our vehicle. After further research, there has been a lawsuit "Honda engine misfire" with this same issue with Honda Pilot for year 2013 and prior. I want to know if my 2014 used 2013 parts, and therefore resulted to the manufacturer defect on my vehicle. The dealer has offered to buy back the car immediately and has not addressed our concerns with the vehicle having a faulty mfg part. Honda has not responded back to the issue and the issue has not been resolved. My concern is if this issue is not fixed that the engine may further malfunction causing more damage to the car.

In the third row seating, on the driver side, the seat belt buckle latch does not catch or secure the buckle.
The driver's seat belt has ripped. I contacted airport Honda where I purchased the vehicle in spring, 2014. The service manger contacted Honda corporate. They refuse to repair the seat belt. Making this a hazard for me to drive the vehicle.

The seatbelt that serves the middle row center seat detached from its attachment point during normal use without an accident. We are the original owners of the car with no accidents. My daughter has sat in that seat for 4. 5 years and 50,000 miles. She is currently 10 years old. Had we been in an accident, I believe that she would have not been protected by her seatbelt. One day, we noticed a large bulge in the back of the car roof that we hadn’t seen before. The next day, when my daughter puller her seatbelt out, there was resistance when she pulled. Once the seatbelt did come out, white fabric came out of the seatbelt hole and the seatbelt fabric was torn/frayed. We brought the car into the dealership where we purchased it. Upon inspection, the bulge was the reel assembly that had detached from the frame of the car. The seatbelt assembly was wedged between the metal roof and the fabric trim - not attached to anything. It is being repaired under warranty on 6/16/2023 at the dealership.

Passanger seatbelt will not retract. Took to dealership and was told there would be a $150 inspection fee before they would even look at it. Because it is a safety item no third parties are permitted to sell them. Understand that the part eventually wears out, but the dealership gouging coustomers is excessive. Right to repair should extend to seatbelts.

The driver's belt buckle receiver started malfunctioning and would click, but the seat belt would not lock at 93k miles. The belt would come unlatched while driving. The red release button would stick in the down position as well. Honda dealer said they would replace it under warranty, but it was non the less scary not to have a working seat belt. I question the quality of the part as I have had many other Hondas with 2-3 times the miles that never had a seat belt failure. I am driving a 2022 Honda Pilot loaner with 600 miles, and while the seat belt locks, it looks like it could eventually fail as well. I would feel safer if a Honda engineer inspected the buckle locks.
Brakes seem to stop suddenly must brake slowly to avoid a sudden stop seatbelt locks up if I do not pull it forward and leave room in the belt so that it isn't completely holding me in also the driver seat will only adjust sideways.
I got this car as a loan from a 3rd party dealer ship and they never told me it had a recall days after the airbag light pops up in the dashboard I took it to get service and they stated that the problem was fixed. The light on the dashboard was gone. A couple days ago the light came back and it makes a weird noise when you turn it on and the car gets humidity so fast the windows fog up and I have to turn the ac on. It doesn’t feel safe to drive it at times but I have to for work. I just want to make sure it’s safe to drive from la to sylmar I’m afraid if it gets to hot or humid that the airbag will go off, and I’m paying way more than I expected each month for the car and it doesn’t feel safe.
Hood - flutters and wobbles significantly at highway speeds. Per recall check, this vehicle is not included. Seat belt - more of a personal thing, but the driver's seat belt cuts into the driver's neck, even when high of shoulder strap is adjusted. When using a device to help control where the shoulder strap lays, it was found that the driver's seat belt is much shorter than all other in the vehicle. Therefore not allowing the driver to use something to adjust the shoulder portion and still safely check blind spots.
Drivers side front seatbelt webbing unraveling. Occasionally becoming caught in belt buckle assembly. Brought car to dealer on 8/6/21 and they wanted to charge over $500 to fix it. I said it was absolutely absurd and that it should be covered under one of my warranties purchased with the car. After some back an forth they agreed to warranty the repair and let me take the car home. Its now been over 4 weeks of them telling me the seat belt has still not arrived at the dealer and the safety issue is growing much larger as the seat belt webbing is getting worse each day. It seems they are truly not wanting to honor a warranty and are trying to do anything they can to either not fix the problem or make me pay over $500 to fix their defective product.
Second seatbelt failure. I previously reported second row passenger seatbelt that was found completely detached from anchor, at point where belt was looped and sewn. This was replaced by dealer. The second row middle belt locked in extended position at that time, and I requested dealer check this and repair or replace as needed. This was supposedly also done. The row 2 middle belt is rarely used, using first time since repair was reportedly done, found webbing that is frayed 50%+ through, in portion that is retracted when not being used. I checked all belts when I found this, and found fraying at the 3rd row middle seatbelt (buckle portion webbing), with associated damage to the plastic where the third row seat folds down. It appears the belt webbing has been rubbing on this plastic part of seat back, causing damage. This belt is also rarely used: not at all in last 13 months, and around 5-6 times, every 6-10 weeks in non-pandemic times. The third row is normally kept folded down, with the middle row belt retracted into ceiling when not in use. I am left wondering if the geometry of the belt placement is causing mechanical/friction damage, if there are sharp edges in the 2nd row middle belt storage (overhead), or if there was chemical damage to some belts in the factory. It is odd and concerning to find multiple issues with the belts, and I want all to be replaced, and their housing inspected for possible points causing the damage.

I have never been in an accident other than being rear ended and it was not major. My air bag light would not go out. My seat belt alarms would no longer work and my locks would not work automatically. My air bag module(srs unit) needed replaced. It effected my airbags, seat belts and my power locks. The dealership did not know that the locks could even be effected but as soon as is was replaced the locks worked as they did prior to the malfunction. I have had a couple mechanics tell me that the module should not ever go bad unless I have been in an accident.
Tmy vehicle, a 2007 Honda Pilot is subject to a recall, and I only, in the last two days, became aware of same. I called a local dealer but the person advised that they could not make any repairs at no cost to me.
My fianc was driving to my doctor to follow up surgery, two blocks from 2 blocks from the house we approached to traffic light was on red and she was applying the brakes when we were just about at light suddenly the car accelerated girlfriend had her foot on the brake but the car kept going we strike a car and hit a parked car bad accident, 3 people got hurt. Every time I watch the video I am more convinced that something when wrong with car systems this happens on kennedy boulevard and audobon st on 12/11/2020 around 11:05 am sunny clear day. I have a video.
I found the seatbelt end that should attach the belt to the anchor on my passenger side second row detached today. The belt webbing is frayed through both the webbing and also the sewn portion that makes the loop attaching the belt to the floor/anchor. The anchor is below a panel, so I can't see if there was a sharp edge there that rubbed/cut the area, or it just unraveled through an area that was not properly sewn. The vehicle was stationary, and my daughter reached for the belt to buckle (she uses booster), noticing the detachment before we drove.
Center rear seat belt ended up around 3 year olds neck and everytime he moved it got tighter and tighter. The seat belt anchor is not easy to detach incase this happens. We ended up unbuckling him and turning his whole body to get it off his neck. Both 2nd and 3rd row seats use this kind of anchor.
I thought finally I could start enjoying the luxury in a car but Honda company painted my face shame by making me feel disappointed with their product. My car steering is so hard for me a woman, the air conditioning will not blow to the right direction even when I set the mode, the belt is not properly positioned, the roof paint is peeling off in lee's than a year I bought it, this is 2013 vehicle , this really broke my heart as a single mother, I have a lot on my plate already, now add all these. Somebody please help me, I'm loosing it , please help me😭😭😭😭.
