6 Suspension problem of the 2018 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 06/16/2025

There is a popping noise when turning and hitting bumps and a slight clicking noise when driving. I am very unsure as to where the issue is coming from (cb axle, steering rack, ball joints, bushings, some say welds or loose bolts). I see many people online talking about this issue online. It needs to be addressed.

7 Suspension problem of the 2022 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 06/04/2025

Case 11655023 hello, I need your help. I spoke with Honda and was told they would buy back my truck and someone would contact me. Mrs. Briana called and said I had to keep taking the truck to the mechanic as many times as needed. I explained I had already taken it 8–9 times, but she said it didn’t matter and that I should take it to another dealer. I had already gone to the mission valley dealership, showed the mechanic photos and videos, and he agreed something was wrong. I left the truck for 3–4 days, but they only changed the start button. I asked about the brakes, which were making noise, and was told it was “normal. ” I insisted on getting them fixed, but they said if parts weren’t broken, Honda wouldn’t replace them. I spoke to the manager, who drove the truck with me and said they would adjust the brakes and fix the faulty fuel sensor. I brought it back on Wednesday, received a service receipt, but when I tried to leave, the truck wouldn’t start. I showed the manager a video of the issue, and he said they would fix it. I returned on Wednesday, left the truck again, and on Thursday a worker called saying the truck had no issues. I reminded them the manager had promised repairs, and they said he would call me. On Friday, I was told the truck had “bad luck,” nothing was wrong, and I should pick it up — or go to another Honda if I wasn’t satisfied.

9 Suspension problem of the 2025 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 04/01/2025

I am experiencing a clicking and popping noise at low speeds and when turning or backing the vehicle. These sounds are getting louder and more frequent. I have checked on the Honda forum and several owners have indicated a problem with the steering rack which they had replaced under warranty. Please look into this as there seems to be a large number of these issues occurring. As you well know steering safety is a major concern and cause for alarm. I have taken my vehicle in once and the service department could not duplicate the issue. It is occurring again and the earliest I can get in is may 12th. I have recorded the sound and it is definitely occurring. I have almost 15,000 miles on the vehicle and this started happening around 14,000 miles. Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this safety issue.

10 Suspension problem of the 2006 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 04/01/2025

Rear suspension cradle attachment points at the frame corrode. This is common on all Pilots in northern climates. Honda has recalled both the ridgeline and crv models for corrosion issues related to suspension attachment point corrosion but refuses to recall the Pilot. While they claim you will not lose control when the suspension disconnects from the frame the vehicle cannot pass inspection and thus becomes disposable. When vehicles are otherwise perfect this is not acceptable from both safety and fiscal aspects. Please investigate this further as Honda has a repair kit and guidelines but charges thousands for the work .

11 Suspension problem of the 2008 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 03/14/2025

Had vehicle in for state inspection and was told the rear crossmember where the rear wheel assembly bolts into was rusting and should be fixed immediately.

12 Suspension problem of the 2017 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 03/12/2025

The vehicle was sold to us with pre-existing major damage to the control arms, bearings and a brake rotor. We heard a metal on metal scraping noise when turning left and immediately took it to a certified Honda dealer who then provided us details of the extent of the damage. The damage to the brake rotor could have caused brake failure and damage to the control arm could have caused on accident. I can't imagine the guilt I'd feel if my [xxx] wife and my [xxx] son got into an accident. This vehicle is their daily driver. 13 Suspension problem of the 2025 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 02/14/2025

Loud popping noise when steering started at about 2000 miles. The entire steering rack was replaced. At 7000 miles the noise is back along with a clicking in the steering wheel. Took it to the dealership again and they adjusted the clock spring, but it is still there. I am worried because I am afraid my steering will fail. The dealer did reproduce the problem both times. No independent inspection. No warning lamps.

14 Suspension problem of the 2007 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 02/07/2025

* rear frame corrosion on my 2007 Honda Pilot ex * this is causing instability issues with the potential risk of the subframe uncoupling from the rear frame rail. * no, but a visual inspection clearly shows heavy corrosion. * no warning lamps or messages but the vehicle is showing signs of instability while in drive.

15 Suspension problem of the 2014 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 01/24/2025

Rear suspension subframe is rusted out and is not safe to drive by state inspection standards. The vehicle is not under a recall and dealer estimates about $200 to put on lift and inspect it. I am the owner of said vehicle and have had my own automobile repair shop for over 35 years, and am currently an official state safety inspection station. The local dealer says they need to inspect the vehicle and that I will be charged for it. I feel that since this is a defect in the vehicle and that it is a safety item that they should inspect it at no charge. I further believe that it will be recalled in the near future and will either repair it here and hope for reimbursement or get a new vehicle and hold on to this and see what happens.

16 Suspension problem of the 2007 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 01/11/2025

Subframe rust prevented vehicle from passing inspection even though (from Honda) "but extensive testing has concluded that vehicle stability will be maintained”. TSB: mc-10209071-0001. Pdf (NHTSA. Gov).

17 Suspension problem of the 2016 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 12/20/2024

A few years ago I was told my fuel injectors needed to be replaced. Last month, I was told that my suspension needed to be replaced and it wore out. Shortly after that my struts were leaking and making noise. I do not drive my car over rough terrain, just regular street driving and I get my vehicle maintained regularly.

18 Suspension problem of the 2017 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 12/02/2024

The front struts has started leaking. I was searching about this issue and realized it is a very common problem that Pilots have. Even the car maintenance person also indicated that this was a common problem in2017 Honda Pilot. I am raising a complaint hence. Honda needs to fix this design flaw.

19 Suspension problem of the 2024 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 09/01/2024

Strange clicking noise during low speed steering left or right and moving steering wheel while parked. Honda dealer states they are unable to replicate issue. Issue is very unusual for a new vehicle. Multiple people have same issues on forums and facebook groups. This is a potential safety issue if there is a faulty electrical steering gear box or suspension component. Honda needs to take responsibility and fix this issue instead of saying they can’t replicate it or that it maybe normal. I took video it is a sound that is audible inside and out.

20 Suspension problem of the 2018 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/09/2024

I did mentioned this recall when I got my car I am having issues with acceleration, fuel pump . Car takes a bit long to take offline.

21 Suspension problem of the 2022 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/20/2024

My front struts were making noise brought car to dealer and dealer determined they were bad and had manufacture replace under warranty. Today, I brought my car into the dealer for maintenance, and I'm being told I have to replace brakes, but looking at them, they are wearing unevenly, which I believe should not be.

22 Suspension problem of the 2024 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/18/2024

1) 2024 Honda Pilot is a 7 passenger vehicle w/2wd towing rating of 3500 pounds. With 4 people in the rows 1&2, and 4-20 lb. Suitcases in the cargo area behind the 2nd row, the rear suspension has extreme negative camber on the suspension and it looks like it's weighted down with a ton of rocks in the back. This causes excessive tire wear on the inside of the rear tires. I brought this into the dealership to address, and they said that it's normal. They declined to check the alignment specs, and said that they just put a couple guys in the 2nd row and all looked normal. Must be inaccurate specs, or it has inadequate rear suspension and/or rear shocks. Why would a vehicle with 60% of the passenger/weight capacity, and with not even set up with a towing hitch, have this kind of problem?this should be investigated as we've never had this problem with our previous Honda's, or any other vehicle. 2) since new, we have problems with the acceleration of the vehicle, primarily from a standing start. When we try to gently press on the gas peddle it surges forward like a person in a sports car trying to spin the tires. This has nothing to do with the pavement as it's dry concrete, and it is very hard to get the vehicle to move forward without spinning the front tires. Dealership says that it's normal as it just has to do with the gearing of the new 10 speed transmission and it's sensitive (huge understatement). This rapid acceleration is dangerous and can cause you to loose control, and even worse if we're driving on wet roads. I've never experienced a gas peddle/acceleration problem like this on any vehicle I've owned in 40 years, even sports cars. Drive one of these Pilot's and you'll see yourself! 3) Honda's vehicle data privacy notice is extremely unethical and should be illegal. Honda is collecting and selling it's clients personal info to third parties. They're trapping clients and compromising personal data and identity for even more money. This leads to identity theft.

23 Suspension problem of the 2022 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 06/01/2024

When you brake and turn the steering wheel to the left it makes a loud clanging noise and the steering wheel shakes. The car feels loose and it does not feel safe to drive. The dealership states it’s the steering rack. It has been happening for 5 months.

24 Suspension problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

Honda Pilot exl 2020 with 39,000 miles- purchased new in may 2020. We just had our Pilot oil change and multi-point inspection along with safety recall most faker replaced. With less than 40k miles we are getting told the front control arm needs to be replaced. The bushing on the right front lower control arm is torn-cracking, causing our tires to be worn and also needing to replace all four of them! I'm not sure how a four year old car, just out of 3 year warranty by a year, is needing all this excessive amount of work. Just this last year everything with the suspension and tires were completely normal and healthy! within that year only putting 10k miles on it, never been off roading or drive crazy- we both have a great driving record. So, all of this is absolutely sudden and worried for our safety. The car has never notified us of low tire pressure at anytime, ever. Having the Honda service center telling us the tires have "adnormal wear pattern of tires" (all of which is, inner wear). Not allowing us to get the normal tire rotation due to that and the tread depth measure was unevenly worn. Just a reminder, not one of the sensors have never alerted us- other than due for oil change. We went in thinking oil change and most safety recall repair would be it. Then being told 4 tires $1,000 and front control arm replacement $561 (not including service charge) is needed! bridgestone tires p245/60/r18, is the brand we currently have and need to replace immediately. I have all receipts from previous oil changes (Honda dealership in charleston SC- where we bought the car from) and multi-point inspections, seeing as this is sudden and very dangerous to not only us but to the cars around. Exact wording from our Honda service report- not fixing this issue front control arm will be unable to stabilize the suspensions fore and aft movements. Not including the tires blowing out while driving.

25 Suspension problem of the 2006 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 03/16/2024

I just purchased a 2006 Honda Pilot 4 wheel drive. . . . I did not get under the SUV to look at the frame structure, I had the differential fluid changed, the SUV was put on a lift and noticed there is extreme rusting going on under the vehicle. In reading some complaint from previous owners, the possibility of the frame separating from the body is a possibility , in addition to other parts doing the same thing, this presents a severe safety issue for me and my family. If Honda did not protect the under carriage with the proper rust prevention inhibitors , this might cause the under parts to fall apart. . . . I think Honda needs to do what is necessary to remove the rust and coat the necessary parts to avoid an accident. The possibility of an accident happening because of the rusting , could have people killed in going down the freeway at high speeds. This looks like a tremendous lawsuit against Honda for not properly insulating the metal to avoid the rusting. . This needs imediate attention by the Honda corp to avoid future lawsuits. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Please expediate this complaint to the proper Honda personnel to resolve this problem. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Failure Date: 02/06/2024

Passenger side front strut assembly failing. Known issue with this series vehicle (2016-2022).

27 Suspension problem of the 2020 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

I am told by right Honda dealership in scottsdale, az that the "front lower control arms" are tearing open after 3. 5 years and approx. 48k miles. This is a premature failure that appears to have affected many other Honda owners. I am told that my steering can lose control as a result of this defect. The dealership charges over $1000 for this repair and it is just outside of warranty. Please investigate this dangerous defect.

28 Suspension problem of the 2016 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 01/30/2024

I was driving my vehicle on the highway at approximately 70 kph when the engine seized and all of the warning lights in the dash went out simultaneously. The car would barely accelerate but I was able to pull over and get it towed to a shop. The shop diagnosed total engine failure as a result of tension rod shavings showing in the oil filter. I researched recalls for my model & year and found November 13, 2023 NHTSA campaign number: 23v751000. Although my specific VIN is not yet included, both the model/ year and symptoms of the issue match exactly with what happened to me. I urge you to include my VIN in this recall.

29 Suspension problem of the 2022 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 01/23/2024

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving 5 mph and making a turn, there was an abnormal loud banging sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that she looked around and could not determine the cause of the sound. The contact stated that she continued driving; however, the failure recurred while driving on several occasions. The contact stated that she pulled to the side of the road on the last occasion. The contact stated that her husband inspected the vehicle and noticed that the sway bar had fractured and was separated from the bracket on the rear driver's side. The contact stated that her husband tied the sway bar, and she was able to slowly drive to the dealer. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect and had occurred because the sway bar was not thick enough. The dealer then sent a claim with photos of the failure to the manufacturer, who approved the purchase of a new part and the repair of the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

30 Suspension problem of the 2019 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 12/11/2023

Start/stop malfunctioning. If activated engine stops and have to physically restart. This is dangerous because can happen in redlight, stop sign, or random. Rear suspension is rough, bumpy and unstable. Yesterday almost lost control going over rough spot in the freeway. Complained numerous times to dealer and opened case with Honda of America. They simply ignore the issue. Many people having the same problem.

31 Suspension problem of the 2006 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 10/01/2023

Dave at beard auto repair in downers grove, IL told whole rear subframe rotted away from the main frame shock support rotted away suspension completely detached - not safe to drive at all. Not even for 5 minutes. Subframe holds all your suspension one severe bump could make wheels fall off and roll away im thinking the recall on the older crvs should probably be extended to Pilots as well since I'm having similar issues as listed in this recall article. . 32 Suspension problem of the 2007 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/21/2023

The rear subframe is completely rusted out where the trailing arm is attached. I was looking to see if I could purchase a used Pilot on line and maybe do an engine swap and was shocked how common this problem is. Many owners were selling there Pilots for parts because of this problem. I originally noticed this while inspecting the cause of the vehicle swaying from side to side at speeds over 40mph.

33 Suspension problem of the 2003 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/28/2023

My 2003 Honda Pilot rear subframe suspension is rusting and causing control issues. This is a common problem on the 2003-2008 Honda Pilots. In Honda TSB 21-019 Honda states " the subframe mounts may pull away from the body of the vehicle (see images below), but extensive testing has concluded that vehicle stability will be maintained. " this is not true. Other Honda's have experienced similar issues and Honda has issued a safety recall. There should be a safety recall for the 2003-2008 Honda Pilots for this subframe rust issue. Failure Date: 06/04/2023

The abs, brake, and traction control lights come on when the slightest bump in the road is hit. I am being told by the Honda dealership technician that the issue is a $2000. 00 sensor that must be replaced but however is on back order. I am told that this very sensor controls the steering, traction, and brakes. I am told that the brakes can disengage or not engage at any time.
