My Honda Pilot has rust on one of the subframe mounts causing it to come loose from body. Honda issued a technical service bulletin about it for an investigation from NHTSA. But, the dealer is acting like there is no such thing with the known issue and repair kit they made to fix the issue. I will attach the service bulletin below to about the issue of what Honda put out supposedly to fix the problem. They keep saying this bulletin does not exist for my vehicle but the bulletin states all years not VIN specific.
The whole underneath sub frame, floor which it connects to, the left & right frame rails are completely rotted away so the shocks are hanging without a piece of frame on them. Completely unrepairable. Not worth fixing. What shall I do? this is a significant safety issue & concern . My mechanic will not give this an inspection sticker until it is road safe.

The rear trailing arm, normally attached to the rear suspension is clearly corroded and came detached when driving under 25 mph up a road. The same issue Honda had to do a recall on their 2005 crv model. Researched Honda Pilots, in our (midwest) area, every single 2005 Pilot had the corrosion. Also cause the muffler pipe to detach from the catalytic converter (included in the photos attached).
Excessive vibration, speeds above 50mph vibrates the entire vehicle.

Rear sub-frame welds failed. On January 1st 2023 while driving the vehicle a loud noise was observed. We got an appointment at the local Honda service center and we were told in fact it was the sub-frame and that Honda is refusing to cover this under the factory warranty. We are almost 500 miles from home and have a two year old vehicle with a broken sub-frame.

The left rear frame of the vehicle is rusted out where the rear drive line bolts to the body or frame. Causing the rear drive line to have the ability of failing to stay attached to the vehicle. The rear suspension also connects at the same area. Just a huge rotted out hole at the moment.

The steering became extremely loose over time on my Honda Pilot posing significant safety concerns because of it. The tires adamantly follow all the divets, lines, grooves, and bumps in the road causing me to lose control of the vehicle very easily in poor driving conditions. This is especially exaggerated during inclement weather such as snow or rain. Recently, due to the steering looseness, I lost control of the vehicle and hit a mailbox damaging the entire right side of the vehicle. Please help to work with Honda to resolve this issue. Thank you!.

I was driving on the pennsylvania turnpike in the left-hand lane alongside the concrete barrier. The road curved to the right and when I tried to gently steer to the right the steering wheel got stuck and locked. I wasn’t able to steer to the right and so the car hit the barrier. The steering then unlocked. Since I was trying to originally steer to the right, the car moved to the right and hit the guard rail along the right-hand side of the highway where the car finally came to a stop. It was fortunate that there were no other cars close to my car when this happened. I don’t know what caused the steering wheel to lock up. The car was very badly damaged and eventually determined to be a total loss. I suffered a concussion and need ongoing pt and ot. Also, I am limited to only working part-time until my concussion symptoms improve. The car was well maintained and had passed the state inspections a couple of weeks before. The issue could have been caused by a front suspension assembly error.

I have taken my 2018 Honda Pilot several times to the Honda dealer, and they have failed to fix what appears to be a transmission problem with the vehicle. The transmission is burning transmission fluid. The vehicle makes a grinding sound when you shift gears. The gears feel like they are catching when you change them, the transmission gears shift appears to be delayed, slipping/jerking and pulling. This situation is very dangerous to me, my children, and the public. The Honda dealer appears to be stalling, so the vehicle runs out of the warranty. They do little to fix the problem; they keep charging me money and repeatedly replacing the burnt transmission fluid. This vehicle has a lemon transmission that they need to replace. Please help investigate this common problem that so many people are complaining about, and Honda keeps ignoring or excusing the complaints. They are selling unsafe vehicles. The incident/issue is contimous, they have not fix the issue. Please review the attached documents. Please contact me with some that can speaks spanish or is able to translate. Thanks.

Confirmed with local mechanic that the rear cross member of the sub-frame needs to be replaced immediately. Badly rusted and is a safety issue.
Honda did not contact me for a year and a half I have been waiting for them to replace my air bag, no response!!! I’ve left numerous messages and still no response I gave a 1 year old daughter, we almost got hit by a car and if it had hit us something could’ve happened! because I had to swerve off road my suspension and power steering are messed up because of pot holes, just so I wouldn’t hit and impact the passenger side of me my car where airbag is bad and nothing would’ve happened to us, not that it was our fault the driver was driving almost right into us!I blame Honda for this disaster would could have been very bad! of course the other driver drove away like nothing happened! so now I am stuck at home not able to go to work and bring my daughter to doctors appointments and invade of in emergency my vehicle is not safe enough to get us anywhere! I am asking god to bless us in this case and count all the blessings he has given us! I don’t have a lot of money to pay for repairs and this is the only car I’ve ever purchased and owned. If there is any way anyone could help please! maybe a new Honda would be nice for christmas, but hey a girl can dream right! thank you for your time!.

The car's rear subframe has rusted to the point where the suspension no longer correctly mounts to the frame causing an unstable ride and handling issues. Yes, the car can be inspected. This is a safety issue because other parts of the suspension system or brake system could become loose or break off or otherwise be negatively affected by this corrosion. It could also cause me to be unable to control the vehicle properly if it gets worse. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by both a dealer and an independent mechanic. The Honda dealership has inspected it. There is a very similar problem with some of Honda's other models from this era including the ridgeline and the crv that have recently been recalled and I think this vehicle should be recalled for this issue as well.
Severe erosion of my undecarriage, metal just falls off from under the car. My fuel tank leaks and gas pours out. It has been deemed unsafe to drive by my Honda dealer, but has a good engine and other parts. It has been severely impacted by rust and erosion. The previous owner was a resident of chicago, where salt is used, which I believe influenced this defect.
State inspection faild, check engine light, bank 1 catalytic converter internal failure and bank 2 catalytic converter internal failure, passenger side axle to be leaking, power steering pump to be leaking, power steering reservoir tank to be leaking, front and rear brake pad.

On February 3, 2022, the right front lower control arm bushing was observed to be leaking fluid. This condition was confirmed by a Honda dealer toward the end of the same month. The failed bushing is a defective design that has existed on Pilot vehicles since at least 2009 and persisted in successive models. The fluid-filled elastomeric bushing failure is manifested by loss of fluid which leaves a black streak on the underside of the control arm necessitating an unscheduled maintenance action. Left undetected, the failure would lead to a loss of structural integrity and conceivably a loss of control under consistent hot and dry environmental conditions where polymer degradation is accelerated. The attached files depict the failed bushing as well as a serviceable bushing from the same vehicle.

Twice in the past 4 weeks, while driving, the car switches into neutral. The car dash still says it is in drive and the gear buttons still show “d/s” highlighted. However, the car is rev-ing the engine as if it is in neutral and the car is only rolling instead of driving. It lasts for about 10 seconds and then resumes working normally.
At accelerating speeds between 37mph and 62mph, the steering wheel trembles and vibrates and shakes profusely. At decelerating speeds between 62mph and 37mph steering wheel trembles and vibrates and shakes profusely. Entire vehicle begin to shake. Driving is hazardous. Vehicle has been and is still been inspected by certified repair centers and there is no solution and the issue remains.

Unusual amount of oil consumption. Faulty cylinder 3. Gaskets cause the oil to leak into the spark plugs causing the engine light to come on with loss of power. Changed cylinder 3 spark plug at least 10 times or more since purchasing the vehicle in 2021. Oil also drips onto the alternator, replaced it twice in 9 months. Wheels and steering wheel shake when hitting the brakes. Replaced brakes and rotors twice as well.
While driving with six on board (car holds up to 8) I hit a moderate bump. The car made a loud bang, and felt unstable. At the same time, abs, vtm-4, and stabilty warning lights came on. I was in a construction zone with no place to stop, so I kept going. The instabilty seemed manageable, so I kept going to an exit. On the ramp, while cornering even slightly, there was a rubbing sound from the rear wheel area. In a straight line, it sounded okay, but didn't feel right. When we were able to park and get out, the rear wheels were splayed out (extreme negative camber) as if the car was grossly overloaded, even though if was empty. Upon inspection, I found that the two rear mounts for the subframe had completely pulled out of the unibody. The subframe had rusted from the inside, so there was no appearance of structurally significant rust until it failed. When the suspension subframe pulled away, it pulled apart the wiring for the abs, etc. This is a very unsafe condition that appeared with no warning. A quick internet search shows that it's also quite common.
The contact owns a 2021 Honda Pilot. The stated that the vehicle was pulling to the left or right while driving. The contact stated while depressing the brake pedal the vehicle started pulling to the right. Additionally, while driving over rough road surfaces the vehicle was making a loud rumbling sound as if the traction control was failing. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 9,800.
I bought this 2004 Honda Pilot new in 2004 in louisville. In 2018 I drove to florida without incident. While here in florida I have had a problem with oil leaking. Than the compressor for the air went out and I took it straight to the dealer here. They told me it was not worth fixing. Since then I have had 2 mechanics look underneath the car and said it was so rusted that the frame was dangerous and they could not risk fixing it. I have checked with other Honda owners only to find out this is a problem with numerous Honda years and no one fix this problems because of liability . I have photos of the rusted out rearend and the frame is not attached. You can find owners trying to weld the rearend back on. No one will repair my compressor because of the rust and damage. When I had it at the dealers they did not mention this problem at all. They just said it was not worth fixing. My car has about 200000 miles but has has its service. This has to be a major recall or replacement. We could have had a major accident over this and didnt know dena feima smith 9554 routt rd louisville ky 40299 502 645 1338. I have a 2011 Honda Pilot with only 45,243 miles. I took it to the dealership where I originally purchased for routine maintenace sevice on 10/05/20, and was told that the compliance bushings are leaking and needs to be replaced. This is a well maintained and driven vehicle, so it is surprising to learn about this problem with such low mileage. May I know if there is a recall for similar issues?.

Honda customer service in torrance, CA gave us case # but unhelpful. 2013 Pilot's part of front suspension rear lower arm bushing warranty extension: 7yrs100k miles. This summer local dealer service depts didn't always answer their phones & couldn't always book due to covid/issues. In June the Hondacare website + other media including Honda's twitter were down for days. As loyal Honda owners we were patient as we've also been affected by the pandemic. We were finally able to have the suspension checked due to rough handling/poor performance/noise. Dealer noted that the bushings were indeed cracked as Honda knows but said that while our Pilot's under 100k mileage of warranty extension, he used excuse of our purchase date just a few weeks past 7yrs despite being well under 100k. Honda would only offer fraction of repair cost w dealers demanding $500-600+ to fix safety defect fitting nhsta criteria; should be recalled. Undue punishment for not pushing to have vehicle seen sooner or knowing exact purchase date. Honda aware of issue but doesn't publicize or update owners further compromising safety. Dealer minimized our concerns on uploaded receipt. Honda said 'request to meet dealer's district manager' but dealer claims 'can't. 'still awaiting their reply. Honda unhelpful so left voicemail for Honda ohio corporate affairs and communications official who self-identifies on social media:"trained as company spokesperson" but she hasn't replied tho we faxed + mailed letter. Yet Honda's all over social media offering various covid/financial/goodwill assistance. But pandemic-related delays had vehicle enter dealerships days after its 7-year purchase anniversary, we're counting on Honda to embody its widely advertised aesthetic of ethics and do the right thing by providing the repair as outlined in the original warranty extension letter Honda sent to owners five years ago without followup.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving at various speeds on several occasions, there was a cranking sound coming from underneath the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that several unknown components needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the shocks, control arms, drive train and other unknown components needed to be replaced. The contact referenced the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 23v228000 (structure); however, neither the VIN nor the year, make, or model was included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 149,000.
I took my car in for regular maintenance. I was notified that both front lower compliance bushings were excessively worn and needed replacing soon. I researched and found that there had been an extended warranty for this problem however I'm past the 100,000 mile warranty. My mileage 136,648. I never received any warning about this serious safety concern from anyone including my dealership. This is very costly and I'm hoping I can get some help in getting this repair done ASAP since it such a safety issue.
Clicking noising when in reverse or turning and also stalls between 40and 50 mph transmission has hard time shifting also sensitive breaking system always breaking lights comes on or it will suddenly break by itself. All this while car is in motion.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Honda Pilot. The contact stated there was an abnormal bumping sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle. The sound was heard intermittently. The vehicle was taken to van's Honda located at (2821 s oneida st, green bay, WI 54304, (920) 499-5483) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the tie rods were corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
I started to notice the rear of my vehicle making clunking noise and occasional metal on metal ticking noises at lower speeds and over bumps. I just assumed my rear shocks were going out. I then later realize the rear of my vehicle is sitting a lot lower especially the driver side. About a week later I took my car in for brakes and while on the hoist lifted up I see that both of the 'trailing arms" right/left sides have completely detached from the sub frame. Now knowing the real issue at hand and doing my share of research online this doesn't seem to be addressed by the manufacture at all, possibly knowing the potential of having one of the main components for keeping your rear axle intact with the whole vehicle fail that easily!!!.
