Air Bag Light On Problems of Honda Ridgeline

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver side seat belt sensor failed and needed to be replaced. In addition, the technician stated that the seat belt failed to retract. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 166,000.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Honda Ridgeline. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v344000 (air bags) and 16v061000 (air bags). The dealer scheduled an appointment for the recall and later stated that they would call the contact once they were available to schedule the repair, but made no mention of part availability. The dealer failed to follow-up to let the contact know the status of scheduling the two recall repairs. The manufacturer was contacted to determine when the parts would be supplied to the dealer. Air bag dashboard light and front passenger airbag light activated dispite no colission to trigger them. Independent mechanic says the air bags have been activated and need to be replaced. Advised to have evaluated be Honda dealer for which I am loathe to do since they always "pad the bill''. This seems to be a manufacture defect.
