When driving the vehicle on I-94 near taylor, mi, 2 codes popped up on my dashboard cluster: 1) transmission system problem 2) blind spot info system problem when diagnosing this at a local auto stores & the Honda dealer itself, a stored code of dtc p0741 torque converter clutch circuit performance or stuck off is listed. Honda has identified a problem with this under service bulletin 23-078, but after talking with the dealer & calling american Honda they state the issue does not relate to my vehicle, even though it falls under their 2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline model. . The model in question is a 2017 Honda Ridgeline black edition. American Honda is not taking ownership of the same issue as described in their bulletin stating improper specifications when manufactured.

To whom it may concern: I am submitting this complaint to report what I believe to be a potential safety-related defect in my Honda vehicle, as well as an unresolved dispute with american Honda regarding responsibility for resulting damage. Recently, I was informed by my case manager at american Honda that my claim had been closed and that Honda would not cover the necessary repairs. When I requested an opportunity to escalate the matter, I was told that no escalation was available. I am seeking NHTSA’s review because the circumstances involve component failures that may affect vehicle emissions, performance, and potentially safety. The fuel injectors in my vehicle failed, this failure caused the catalytic converter to become damaged, andhonda accepted responsibility for the faulty fuel injectors. Honda has refused to cover the damage to the catalytic converter. Because the catalytic converter failure was reportedly caused by faulty fuel injectors—components for which Honda accepted responsibility—I believe the manufacturer should cover all resulting damage, regardless of warranty status. I request that the national highway traffic safety administration: investigate whether similar fuel injector failures are occurring in Honda vehicles. Review whether these failures are causing catalytic converter or other engine damage. Determine whether the manufacturer is appropriately addressing these failures.
All the warning lights came on. I took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis. They told me that the problem was the fuel injectors. The vehicle only has 40,000 miles. They said there was a factory problem with the programming in the ecu and they are aware of the problem. They have issued an extended warranty for this. They now refuse to honor the warranty because my title is a salvage title. A salvage title has nothing to do with their faulty programming. They now want to charge me $1,300. 00 to have them fix it. The vehicle is at the dealer now waiting for a remedy 12/5/2025. I think this could be dangerous if it is not repaired. The engine could stall or fail while on the road.
Auto stop start does not work properly in this vehicle after repeated fixes by Honda and dealership. Vehicle sometimes does not restart after stop start engaged at stop causing a stall like event. Auto stop start tries to start vehicle after stop but vehicle either stalls/fails to restart or is extremely slow to restart. Vehicle has been repaired, new starter, new battery, new relays less than one year ago and vehicle is now experiencing the same issues. Owner (me) is now disabling feature every time vehicle is started to prevent system from engaging.

Approximately six(6) months ago, my wife and I noticed a very noxious gasoline smell in the cabin of our truck, and upon further investigation determined that the smell was a direct result of gasoline that had infiltrated the oil in the engine. The oil was changed and the used oil smelled very strongly of gasoline. I sent an oil sample to blackstone industries to get the oil analyzed, and they, in fact found gasoline in the oil. Honda said that the results were useless because they wouldn't accept third party results. I took my truck to the local Honda dealership (napleton Honda in loves park, IL) to address the problem. They, in turn contracted the technician department of american Honda who said the strong gasoline smell was "normal. " I have contacted american Honda and they suggested getting a second opinion. The case number is, xxx. At this point a second opinion at another dealership would be useless because they're going to tell me the exact same thing. So, in conclusion, I would like the noxious, dangerous gasoline fume root cause to be identified and repaired. The fumes are making me, my wife, and any passengers nauseous. I bought a new 2025 Honda Ridgeline truck from hendrick Honda, easley, SC and within the first 24 hours the instrument display showed an “auto idle stop error” and to get service at the dealer. I took it back to the dealer within two days, and they said they ran diagnostics and couldn’t find nothing wrong. The service advisor said “it will probably just go away as you drive it more. ” well, after a couple thousand miles now, it has not gone away but sporadically reappears while driving. I called the service advisor back and he said I could bring the truck back and they could try a diagnostic test again. I asked him to instead contact Honda automotive as this is a known issue with the Ridgeline then call me back to notify me of the solution. He never called back.

The vehicle lurches forward when accelerating. You start off from a stand still, as you are accelerating the vehicle slows, then speeds up, then slows then speeds up. This happens multiple time. You can watch the tachometer, it goes up then down, then up then down. It can happen 10, 20 times while accelerating.
Rodents chewed through fuel vent line. We did have emission warning light come on. Took to dealer and was told unsafe to drive. Seems to be an issue with the soy based lines used. Could have potentially resulted in a vehicle fire. Auto insurance will cover repairs but not rodent tape to prevent future reoccurance.

My 2020 Honda Ridgeline has an auto idle/start system. The truck engine turns off when it stops, then automatically turns on when brake is released or gas pedal pressed. There was a Honda notice issued that the system may not automatically restart. A fix (software update) from Honda was implemented on my truck on 03/29/23. This "fix" did not work. On 09/05/25 at 1:25 pm I pulled up to an intersection. The auto idle system automatically turned off the engine as intended. About 2 minutes later, when the brake was released and gas pedal pressed, the engine did not restart. The truck stalled. Various efforts (~ 1 minute of panic) ensued to start the engine. Eventually, put the truck in park, waited, then started the engine. This situation occurred during high traffic at a busy intersection. It caused other drivers to take risks pulling out in front of other cars to get around my stalled vehicle. It was a very dangerous situation. A class action lawsuit was filed against Honda about this. Honda claims their software update fixed the problem. My scary experience shows that it did not fix the issue. Their auto idle/start system is simply unsafe. Also, it is not possible to permanently disable it.
Started car and check engine light on. Honda dealership said the fuel sensor was bad. Less than 18k miles.
While making a right turn from a yield sign into oncoming traffic and doing about 15 mph, I depressed the accelerator to speed up and the truck stalled for about 2 seconds. The rpm's drop and you literally lunge forward until power resumes. No warning lights come on and no codes are given. This put my safety at risk and the driver accelerating towards me at risk. This is the first time it happened with my 2021 Ridgeline. However, my 2019 Ridgeline had this happen about a dozen times. Honda service could never replicate the issue with the 2019 Ridgeline, but there was enough data out there about defective high pressure fuel pumps that they agreed to replace the pump. After replacing the pump, the issue went away. Now my 2021 Ridgeline is doing the exact same thing. I can therefore only assume it's the high pressure fuel pump again. I see that Honda recalled 628,000 vehicles in 2021 and then recalled an additional 720,000 vehicles in 2024 for the high pressure fuel pump failing. My current VIN for some reason is not in this recall. Honda corporate was of no help whatsoever when contacting them. They told me my truck is not under recall. This is a severe safety issue and Honda needs to expand the recall to cover my VIN and any other VIN's that are affected by this defective high pressure fuel pump.

I delivered my vehicle to a Honda dealership in July 2025. They inspected the vehicle and agreed to replace the fuel tank. Since then, I have been receiving notifications that the fuel tank is back ordered with no eta. I am continuing to pay insurance registration for this vehicle and I’m unable to use it. I would suggest that at this point Honda needs to buy it back.

Transmission jerks when shifting thru gears, car shudders and rpms jump when both upshifting and downshifting. Have had the transmission serviced several times by Honda dealer, fluids changed and updated with no change in performance.
Whenever I’m driving in my vehicle everything seems to be fine until I stop at a red light. On three separate occasions, while my vehicle is stopped it will automatically go into neutral and stall. This causes my truck not to run properly. I have to shut my car off, and then turn it back on to put it in drive and operate it like normal. I’m unsure what my cars issue is but it is an inconvenience and a safety concern due to it keeps happening while in traffic.
Honda has issues with the fuel injectors for this year vehicle. Instead of performing a recall, they pushed it off by extending the warranty. If the injectors fail, the car becomes inoperable and could result in accident. Honda needs to fix this issue now and not just issue a warranty extension.
There is a presence of gasoline in the oil which is causing two(2) safety issues. 1. The infiltration of gasoline in the oil can cause the engine to malfunction to the point of seizure which could cause a sudden stop in traffic flow. 2. The noxious gasoline fumes are unbearable in the cabin of the truck causing headaches, nausea, and lightheadedness which could cause an accident while driving and could cause the driver to become disoriented and cause an accident. I took the vehicle to napleton Honda in loves park, illinois to address the problem, and they, in turn contacted american Honda for guidance. The dealership said the technical arm of american Honda said the fumes and the gasoline infiltration was, "normal. I was contacted by american Honda and they suggested that I get a second opinion from another dealership, which imho is moot because they will contact american Honda for guidance and they will be told the exact same thing. The case number with american Honda xxx. The vehicle is currently under warranty for approximately one(1) more month. I had the oil analyzed by blackstone laboratories and they did, in fact detect gasoline in the oil. I have those results. I talked to the Honda case manager and she said that Honda will not/does not accept third party testing. American Honda will not even agree to test the oil themselves to determine if what I'm saying is true. I would sincerely appreciate any assistance since my truck is almost unbearable and certainly unsafe to drive. There are currently no warning or check engine lights on, but a simple oil analysis would, 100% confirm the presence of gasoline in the oil. I have noticed the gasoline odor for approximately 9 months and it has progressively gotten worse. I try to combat the noxious odors and impending motor damage by changing my oil very frequently which is approximately every 500-750 miles with full synthetic oil. Please contact me if you need anything further. Thank you. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of informat.
My vehicle has less than 95k miles on it. Purchased it brand new from the dealer in 2016. It was one of the first few Ridgelines in the state. I've always had it serviced on time at the dealer, and kept up with its maintenance and care. The engine started to fail out of nowhere - making a weird tapping/knocking noise. I made an appointment to have it checked out by the dealership, and that same day my check engine light came on while I was on the freeway going 70mph. It began shaking at an idle. I got off the freeway, and parked. I was afraid to turn the car back on. The check engine light listed off numerous warnings of failed systems. Since my appointment wasn't until the next day, I left my car near the dealership overnight, instead of driving it back home for fear of causing an accident, or having my engine overheat or explode. I brought it to the dealership the next day, and they confirmed that I had a fuel injector issue, consistent with a known issue, for which I had an extended warranty letter the mil warnings. However, they also noted a possible connection rod issue in the engine, and said the engine would have to be completely replaced or rebuilt. I have read and heard from many other people with a 2017 Honda Ridgeline that they have experienced this issue with their engines failing well before they should - at 90k miles, 140k miles, etc. There is a known issue with many of the 2017 Honda Ridgelines - and a recall did occur, but my VIN says my vehicle is not part of this recall - however, clearly my engine had the problem that Honda was aware of. My whole family was in the car when the check engine light came on, and the sound got worse - we could have been injured in an accident on the freeway, or had the engine overheat/explode while we were in the car. The issue was reproduced and confirmed by the dealer service center, and has been inspected by them. No warnings or symptoms before the failure - just complete shutdown out of nowhere.
The automatic engine stop/start system is a safety hazard. On multiple occasions with two different drivers (husband and wife owners), the engine has stopped just as the accelerator is pressed after waiting for traffic to clear at a stop sign or while waiting to enter a street from a driveway or parking lot. The delay when expecting the vehicle to accelerate has nearly caused accident(s) several times. Drivers are forced to switch off the automatic stop/start system every time the vehicle is driven since it defaults to active and it is not safe to use. The system should be permanently disabled or at least programmed to be disabled as default when engine is started. This issue was reported to the local Honda dealer during the first routine service--owners were told that nothing could be done by the dealer. The service advisor suggested that we contact manufacturer or NHTSA directly. The incident date and mileage were entered below for yesterday since that was the latest event. It has happened numerous times since the vehicle was purchased in July 2024.

On multiple occasions at highway speeds when coasting for a few seconds roughly 50mph to 70mph, the truck begins to stall/ lose power. We thought it was related to the auto-idle feature, but the last two events I had it turned off. This has happened 5 or 6 times to me and my wife since about six months after buying the truck. Four of the events - November 2023: [xxx] in new jersey at ~50 mph, engine lost power, applying gas did nothing. A few seconds later it regained power and made a buzzing noise. [xxx]: on [xxx] in virginia, going down hill at ~70 mph, the engine lost power without warning, steering & brake pedal began to freeze up as if the truck was turning off when coasting briefly down with the flow of traffic. I pumped the gas pedal to no avail - a couple of seconds later it recovered and started up - and buzzed loudly. I avoided an accident; luckily the vehicle behind us was not tailgating. No lights or warning appeared on the dash. The dealer scanned the truck's computer and they noted a transmission event code, but nothing more. Could not replicate the issue. [xxx], jacksonville, FL [xxx] near [xxx] at ~62 mph, in the middle lane with auto-idle turned off, engine began to lose power briefly with a slight buzz (high pitch) when it "came back" to full power - again while cruising, almost coasting - to keep pace and distance from the vehicle in front of me. My wife witnessed the event and made note of the time and speed. [xxx], 8:13pm - on [xxx] going through jax on the way to the airport to pick up my wife. In the middle lane (second over from left lane) at ~60mph started to lose power in spite of my foot being on the gas. I kept the gas applied and the engine power came back. No buzz sound. At ~ 31,531 mile on the odometer. The truck has been back to the dealer 3 times and they cannot replicate the event. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Considering purchasing but, after checking VIN, there was no report of camera harness or fuel pump recall being completed.
I went to fill my vehicle with gasoline on 02/06/2025. The 2018 Honda Ridgeline has a capless fuel system to enter fuel into the vehicle and there are two flaps that the gasoline nozzle is required to open. It repeatedly attempted to insert the nozzle and the first flap would not move. I pushed harder, and the first flap broke. I still could not insert the nozzle to get gasoline into my vehicle. I then observed a block of ice preventing the nozzle from accessing the second flap. I could not remove the ice to put gas in my vehicle. On 02/07/2025, the temperature rose above freezing and I was able to mop out the water from the area, however my capless system was broken at this time. I brought it to the local Honda dealership and they were able to repair the damaged component, however charged me for this repair as they contended there were no recalls on this issue and the vehicle is out of warranty. I went on the internet and found in several consumer forums that people have cited this to be an issue with the Ridgeline and other Honda vehicles. I am unclear how Honda could manufacture a vehicle component that allows water to collect at the entrance to the gas tank which could cause a myriad of engine issues as well as the ice issue which would prevent being able to put gasoline in the vehicle.

Gasoline fumes originating from engine compartment and entering the cabin of vehicle via hvac. Fumes are thick enough to cause eyes to water, mild respiratory distress (coughing) and clothing to smell of gasoline after exiting the vehicle. Concerns exist about possible fuel leak given how dense the fumes are. Multiple users on social media report similar issues of gasoline fumes from the motor coming into the cabin via hvac system across the Honda lineup, but mainly users with the 3. 5 liter v6 motor. Some point to leaking fuel lines. Of those I found looking for a solution, all said Honda techs either located a fuel leak or were unable to fix. Dealer will be inspecting vehicle at next oil change if not sooner if problem continues to worsen. Issue is intermittent but increasing in incidents over the past three days. With the motor running, vehicle idling in park and hvac system off, the fumes do not enter the cabin. The moment the hvac system is turned on, the cabin begins to fill with fuel fumes. Fumes don’t fully disperse from the cabin when driving unless at highway speeds. Vehicle was purchased new from dealer, has never been involved in any incidents or experienced any issues beyond poor drivers side window performance. The check engine light isn’t illuminated nor are any other fault indicators. Note: given how many complaints I’m seeing online about this exact issue, I wanted to submit this to see how many others have reported fuel fumes coming from the motor. If it is as widespread as users indicate, I’d hope that multiple reports have been submitted and my report is one more into you launching an investigation. I live on a farm with equipment twice my age. Fuel fumes don’t happen inside the vehicle unless something is wrong, even the oldest trucks on the property with fuel tanks stored behind the drivers seat inside the cabin.
Corrosion formed on the rear frame and a recall was issued for Honda Ridgelines. The checkered flag Honda dealership tested our Ridgeline, and it failed the punch test regarding corrosion. The fuel tank, which is mounted to the rear frame, can become unsecured as the rear frame deteriorates from corrosion. An unsecured fuel tank could have a fuel leak and an increased risk of fire. The dealership confiscated the Ridgeline and Honda manufacturer still has not issued a buyback or any compensation.

Bought this 2019 Honda Ridgeline on 1/2/25. Honda corrected the recall for fuel pump and after that, my car is burning fuel like crazy. Now they said that I need to replace my fuel pump and they said my VIN is not included on the recall for fuel injectors. Honda know that they should recall all their 2019 Honda Ridgeline model and not just a specific VIN. They need to recall this faulty fuel injectors with the new one and honor the 10 years and 150,000 miles fuel injectors warranty on all the 2019 Honda Ridgeline model and not just a specific VIN numbers. This is safety issue and should be addressed by Honda.
Recall is from Feb. 2024. Repeated calls starting in Feb. 2024 to vans Honda in green bay, WI. Called 4 or 5 times and talked to a service rep. They are responded that they did not have the part needed to fix the issue and did not know when the part would be available. The all said that I would be contacted as soon as the part was available to set up an appointment to have the defective part replaced. On 1/6/2025 I again contacted vans Honda. The rep said they did not have the part but that he would put in an order today to order the part for me. I asked why after calling five time the part was not on order already. He did not know. My vehicle now has another issue. The display is showing "emissions system problem". I believe this new issue has to do with the fuel not being delivered to the engine properly due to the defective part in the fuel pump. I believe Honda needs to fix all the engine problems this recall has given to my vehicle.
Vehicle goes into limp mode, limited power, flashing check engine light this happens after extended period on highway (hour or more) below 20 degrees f. When you exit highway and come to a stop. All good as soon as you try to accelerate cel starts flashing and I have reduced power. To correct this. The vehicle has to be shut off and restarted. This means it happens when pulling out into traffic from a stand still at a stop light stop sign. Limited to about 15 mph regardless of road pulling onto. Then have to pull over shut off and restart put back in drive and go. This is not ideal in most cases and dangerous. Honda released a TSB but will not cover if out of warranty. I filed case with Honda at 70 k. They agreed to pay for parts and labor minus $50 deductible and sales tax on parts. This affect all 2017 to 2023 and some 2024 vehicles with 3. 5l engine. This first happened to me with roughly 2k miles on car and is sporadic. Only cold weather and matches their TSB. Happens frequently every winter for me. For last 3 years when I found Honda TSB 24-085 suddenly the dealer knew this was happening. Yet I have been complaining for 3 years of issue. Once I showed them TSB suddenly OH that’s what you mean.
A smell of gas came into the car. Fuel pump was the problem as per the dealer. Could cause driver to pass out or fire.
2022 Ridgeline's auto idle engine off/on activated while driving/moving. This week it occurred (Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024) on i95 in virginia when going down hill at approximately 70 mph. The engine ceased without warning and the steering and brake pedal began to freeze up when I had eased off the gas to coast briefly down hill (in order to keep in the flow of traffic). I then gave it gas, pumping the pedal, and a couple of seconds later it recovered and started up; the truck’s starter buzzed loudly as it restarted. I avoided an accident in traffic by not panicking and luckily because the vehicle behind us was not tailgating and that the section of highway was straight and not on a bend - otherwise it could have been catastrophic. The rest of the trip we turned the feature off and the truck had no incidents. Based on the few previous events, which were at slower speeds, it seems that if the truck coasts even briefly the feature can trigger as if the sensor "senses" that the truck is not moving - and the engine turns off (previously it felt like the truck was stalling). I previously mentioned the incidents to the dealer service techs but there is no awareness or acknowledgement of the issue. This week I placed another call to the dealer and left a detailed message - but nobody at the dealer has acknowledged this is an issue.
There is a fuel pump recall on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The danger of this is it could go out causing a crash and or injury. I have been trying to get this replaced for one year now, to no avail. I want to avoid this happening while driving at freeway speeds, and need to have it replaced ASAP.
I had to replace a bank of injectors and I only had about 75000 miles on vehicle. This is a defect they should not fail so early. They are TSB and recalls on my model just not my VIN.
Fuel pump module - truck surges, stumbles ,slows down at 20-40 mph. Contacted 2 Honda dealerships mid- late may 2024 ( gunn Honda, hillcountry Honda san antonio TX), was told parts to fix unavailable. Contacted same 2 November 16 , told parts still unavailable to fix, even though it’s been 7 months since I received recall notice and contacted the dealerships.
Was extended warranty for my make model and year for faulty fuel injectors. Exact same codes on the bulletin but wasn't covered due to VIN specific.
While driving vehicle hesitated and almost shut off. It has happened twice in the last month. Also sometimes is hard to start engine. I received the fuel pump recall in February 2024 and again in may 2024 stating that parts should be available in fall. I called dch Honda of temecula and I was told that they do not have parts and they have no idea when they will have parts on hand. I fear that my truck will shut off and I will not be able to stop it in time. Especially when driving 65-70 mph on freeway.
I took my 2019 Honda Ridgeline in on November 4, 2024, for a p0430 code (which was intermittent) and for a fuel pump recall. The dealership informed me that the fuel pump would need to be ordered, which would take a few days. However, shortly after dropping off the vehicle, I received a call stating that the fuel injector for cylinder 6 had failed the test, and they quoted $1,734. 71 for replacing the fuel injectors. I inquired about Honda service bulletin 19-073 (dated July 5, 2019), which addresses issues related to debris from the fuel injector manufacturing process. The dealership then called back and informed me that this issue would only be covered under the warranty period. They advised me to submit a claim directly to Honda, providing me with a phone number for that purpose. Since getting the vehicle back, I have conducted further research and found Honda service bulletin 21-010 (dated February 11, 2021), which extends the warranty on these fuel injector repairs to 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. My Ridgeline has only 61,000 miles. I filed a claim with american Honda motor CO, case # 15143166 on 11/16/24 requesting reimbursement for the fuel injector repair in the amount of $1,734. 71. I received a phone call on 11/30/24 stating my claim had been rejected. They stated I needed to submit a complaint with NHTSA. The symptoms experienced are the exact the same as the two service bulletins describe, thus the repairs should be covered. I emailed the service department on November 15, 2024, to inquire about the status of the fuel pump, but as of today, it has not yet arrived. I have been waiting over a year for a fuel pump replacement. I have highlighted pertinent information in the attached documents.
