At approximately 22,000 miles my 2017 Accent's brake lights would no longer work. My tail lights are on but my brake lights that illuminate brighter while braking will not work. I have attempted to change the fuse with an identical one, bought new light bulbs, and will now be taking it into a dealership. I believe it is the brake switch that is faulty but I am unsure. Ut they are booked for weeks and this is a huge safety/legal issue. Recall number 131.

I have the very basic model of the 2010 Hyundai Accent. As I was driving down the road a woman was nice enough to stop me and tell me my brake lights weren't on, so I pulled over and tried testing it out to see what she was talking about, every time I stepped on the breaks none of the lights came on. I went home and had my step dad take a look but nothing in the fuses were lose and none of the bulbs were burnt out, so we did some research online and noticed that Hyundai sent out a safety recall "Hyundai is recalling 1,059,824 vehicles, including the 2007-'09 Hyundai Accent, because of roll away risk and brake lights that may not illuminate. . " I am more than sure this is effecting my car as well.

I was unaware that Hyundai had issued a recall on these vehicles back on September 2, 2009. My car started not wanting to let me shift out of park, after I had applied the brake to do so. Just last night October 2, 2013. I noticed that my brake light were on and not my headlights, and the car was in park, and the vehicle was off. I will attempt to get this fixed at the Hyundai dealership in enterprise, al. I hope they will fix this safety issue, as I have readed other complaints from people across the nation have had with this and dealerships have refused to comply and fix this free of charge. Hopefully the dealership will fix it.
The brake light went out in my car it was made 06/06 and there is a recall for the same problem but there saying my car isn't covered under this recall. The should look into expanding the recall to other cars.

Gentleman pulls up beside me at a stoplight and says, I don't have any brake lights. I check them and sure enough, no brake lights. I called Hyundai and they say my VIN does not have any recalls. I did see a recall on 2007 Accents online. Want to know why mine isn't on the list. I'm sure they must be using the same parts. I'd like to know how something like this can go bad like the others did and not be recalled.
