The report does not specify the exact component that failed, but the fire originated under the hood of the 2016 Hyundai Accent. The vehicle and related documentation, including the fire department report, insurance claim, and incident photos, are available for review?. The fire under the hood posed a serious safety risk as it occurred while the vehicle was in motion on a busy highway. Fortunately, the driver evacuated safely, but the incident could have resulted in injury or more severe consequences? of both driver and other drivers traveling. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Due to the extent of the damage caused by the fire, it is unlikely that the issue can be reproduced or thoroughly examined. The vehicle has not been inspected by a mechanic since the incident. The incident was inspected by chesterfield fire & ems (report no. Fr250130004596), chesterfield police department arrived on the scene, and an insurance claim is in process. About a week prior to the fire, oil indicator light would flash on and off periodically, unusual noise began, and the engine light came on. The air conditioner is leaking out fluid when turning on and I feel it is because of the unrepaired recall; this happens on a daily basis but I first noticed it on October 1.
My 2015 Hyundai Accent started having issues with oil consumption at about 80,000 miles or so. I was having to check and add oil to the vehicle regularly in addition to oil changes. The oil consumption issue got worse as the vehicle got higher in miles, having to check and add oil every 600-1000 miles approximately. I was not aware of the known issue with Hyundai motors and the oil consumption so I was not tracking milage or dates of adding oil unfortunately. At about 100,135 miles, the vehicle suddenly broke down on my way to work. There was no warning other than the oil consumption problem. The car rpms got very high and the car started decelerating until it wouldn't go forward anymore and was stalled on the side of the road. I had the vehicle towed to a Hyundai dealership and at this time it waiting for the diagnosis, however, they are sure that the head gasket has to be removed (for $500) to get that diagnosis. When the car died, there were no warning lights on at all, however, previously, there had been lights for low oil occasionally, but not always, when the oil was low. Many times when I checked and the oil was low, there was no light that indicated that it was low.

My catalytic converter failed on my car and will eventually needed a new engine. I was driving a busy road doing about 55 miles per hour and my car suddenly dropped down to 3-5 miles per hour without warning now flashing light on the dash nothing. I could have been killed or hit causing a multi car accident. I was so scared and it was so hot I thought my engine was going to blow. I coasted back into the auto place that just preformed my oil change thinking they had done something wrong. They did a throughall diagnostic of my car and my car was read that my catalytic converter was bad. So I then got my car to the pearson Hyundai dealership where there formally diagnosed my car stating that I needed to replace my catalytic converter for 2500 - 3000, but I had done my research and new it was a known problem. People in several Hyundai forums have been complaining about this same issue. I asked for assistance in getting my car repaired from pearson Hyundai, Hyundai USA, and I even wrote a letter to the ceo of Hyundai to no avail. I have been without my car since June. Hyundai has a real issue with oil consumption, bad catalytic converters and they need to replace my engine warranty or not. I feel my vehicle is very unsafe and I am nervous to drive it. I can't drive it if I wanted to more then a few feet because it chokes up and the goes 3-5 miles per hour feel like it is going to die at any moment. I am asking that Hyundai take ownership of it's faulty car parts and do the right thing by its consumers. Anything could have happened to me in that day in June and it seems nobody is worried about it. Hyundai can not just pick and chose who gets a replacements when other models are having the same issue. There were no prior warning lights or signs other than the error code that the auto place provided.

Bad engine crankshaft, engine is still under 150k miles. Experiencing same issues as other models with this engine have. Other vehicles have received a recall for engine and extended warranty protection but not this model pressing on gas throttle but low acceleration or none in some instances.
My dealership, palmers Hyundai on airport blvd in mobile, al said I can make an appointment to come in to have the abs fire hazard addressed, but there is no guarantee that they will have the part to fix the recall problem because they don't receive the item in bulk. I would have to make appt, come in and wait until my turn and then see if they would have the part to be able to fix it that day.

While driving the vehicle on the freeway it began to slow down and I was no longer able to accelerate. After attempting to pull over, other vehicles began blowing their car horns to let me know something was wrong. Once I came up on the off ramp, the inside of the car began filling with smoke. I had to open the door and jump from the vehicle while it was still in motion. At that moment it became fully engulfed with fire. I have since found out via the internet that a recall has been issued for the vehicle. I have not received any official notice from the car manufacture. The car was a total loss as it was completely destroyed as it burned on the side of the road. My safety was risked as I was driving my car while it was on fire and I had to jump from a moving vehicle to avoid being burned in fire.
Recall 23v651000 has been in place for over six months and a remedy is still not available. I have suffered hundreds of dollars in damages due to having to continue to park my vehicle outside, including having to replace the fuel sending unit after a failed siphoning attempt as well as exterior body and paint damages due to weather conditions. Please press Hyundai to release a remedy as soon as possible!.
I have a call about the abs brakes and the manufacturer is obliged to repair it because there may be future damage and it puts it in danger.
The abs traction controll light comes on randomly. When braking it sometimes slides. No I have not taken to a dealer due to NHTSA saying remedey not detectable. No has not been inspected. Yes, abs tractoon controll came on dash board and slipery warning.
Truck release not functioning which is being recalled on elantras. Both sun visors broken. Will not stay up and swing when down. Have been hit on the head while driving.
I have yet to experience a safety problem due to the recall associated with my vehicle. However, the recall relates to brake fluid leaking and catching fire when the car is either parked or in drive. Because Hyundai has yet to find a remedy for this dangerous recall in a timely manner, it has brought great anxiety and fear as a young driver.
I received this notice of a safety recall for my 2012 Hyundai Accent in late October. Hyundai stated that a remedy would be available in late November. Now it's late December, and I've heard nothing from Hyundai. This safety recall sounds urgent and incredibly dangerous; I don't feel safe driving or parking my vehicle anywhere because according to them, it can catch fire at any moment. Despite this, Hyundai hasn't provided any more solutions other than parking my car outside, which doesn't solve the issue with driving it and frankly isn't any more safe. Hyundai isn't responding quickly enough at all for how urgent this issue is, even though several vehicle fires and thermal incidents have already occurred due to this very issue. It's ridiculous that they state the vehicle is safe to drive, yet they admit that the vehicle can catch fire while it's being driven. At this point, the government needs to step in and hold Hyundai accountable, for the sake of public safety. They need to be made to provide a solution that actually solves the problem, even if it isn't cheap to do so.
I received a recall notice in October for my 2012 Hyundai Accent. According to the recall, my car is safe to drive but should not be parked in my garage or near my home due to fire risk. The letter said a remedy would be available as of 11/21. It is now 11/29 and there's still no remedy available. Because I'm in upstate NY, the temperature has plummeted and my car is having a harder time starting in the morning since I can't park it in our garage. I'm putting in a complaint due to the fact that the manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall in a timely manner.
During cold weather, the trunk lid will suddenly fall when reaching into the trunk. The lid does not need to be bumped for it to fall. I believe it can be inspected upon request. Safety at risk when it suddenly falls. My husband had the trunk lid fall on the base of his neck at the top of his spine when the trunk lid suddenly fell. I had the trunk lid fall on top of my head leaving a goose egg bump when loading luggage in the car. No the problem has not been reproduced by the mentioned entities. No the problem hasn’t been inspected by the mentioned entities. No. There were no warnings when the trunk lid suddenly fell.
Dealer and manufacturer said that the anti-theft software upgrade is not compatiable for my 2013 Accent and that they are working on an update. They should be required by NHTSA to complete this upgrade because we could be injured if someone tried to steal my car.

Bought my car in 2021 and had actuators for windows replaced, now in 2023 I need passenger actuator replaced again. My heater is stuck on 4 and continuously blows and cant be turned off. The summer was ok but wasted gas because I had to have the air conditioner on or else eventually nothing but heat will blow out and so its not in my face the air has to blown in "feet" only mode and eventually starts to really burn while I'm driving. No coverage cause its considered "cosmetic" even though the whole panel needs to be replaced not just the knob. My car is also apart of the Hyundai recall #251 but when calling my local dealership they told me I had no remedy for any type of recall so that ment I had no recall. I called Hyundai customer service and asked about the notice to dealers, the notice lets dealers know that owners of effected vehicles are eligible for substitute transportation if they do not want to continue driving their car. I let him know what my local dealer told me, and how she didn't even let me know about the recall or the alternate transportation choice that's available to me and he just told me that they know about the recall so they should help just ask for a manager next time. I have my check engine light on now after hearing a ticking noise like other complaints, hot air constantly blowing and now I have to worry that whatever is wrong could also effect the problem that is considered to be likely to cause my car to catch fire! please let dealers know just cause there's no remedy yet for the recall, please at least let people be aware that they are at risk of having their car catch on fire especially when they call and ask specifically for the information!.
The car caught on fire while driving on the freeway for no reason, an explosion occurred.
I have already submitted a report here and never had any follow up and I don't see it in the reported complaints section of this website with newer incidents already showing so I know it isn't that there is a back log. My car caught on fire while I was in the car, asleep. I have reports from the fire department, I have struggled with Hyundai for months and ultimately was denied any assistance due to I was missing one of two service records. The fire report clearly stated that fire started in the cabin of the car not the engine so a lack of an oil change shouldn't have been the reason this happened. This event has traumatized me and continues to be an enormous burden on me and my family and their lack of caring is beyond disheartening. I easily could have died that day, by all accounts I should have. I would greatly appreciate some sort of follow-up as I feel like I'm just being completely ignored and discredited. I would gladly provide more information as to the actual incident if needed but like I said I have already done so in another report and don't want to do it again if it's just going to be ignored a second time.
I was driving home with my children from the store, when my car started smoking, shut off, and the engine caught on fire. I barely made it out of the car with my toddlers before the whole thing was engulfed, and I lost all of my money, cards, and the majority of our clothing, as it had been in the trunk after having finished washing it at the laundromat up the street.
My car unexpectedly caught fire while driving at lax airport on June 21, 2023 around 11-11:30a. M. The whole car burned within a few minutes. There was nothing I could do.
I was driving and I tried to stop and couldn’t and someone ran the stop sign and I hit them and totalled my car and I just got off the phone with the investigator and they said it was due to my abs. And I seen the abs light on my dash and when I took it to bridgt breaks they told me it was fine.
My 2022 Hyundai was broken into, in an attempt to steal it, due to the lack of immobilizers in these vehicles (and the viral videos that occurred due to Hyundai’s inability to resolve the issue). My window was smashed in, my ignition ruined, and the plastic panel under the steering wheel was ripped out. I filed a claim with my insurance company and a police report, but now I have to deal with increased insurance rates and at least $500 in damage. I’ve had no vehicle for at least 2 weeks, which hurts my livelihood (since I can’t drive to work) and I likely won’t have it for a few more weeks. I’ve asked my dealership if I have an immobilizer and they said they don’t know. They have confirmed I am not eligible for the software update that helps protect your car. They have confirmed that this break-in occurred, because of the viral video and lack of response from Hyundai. I now feel unsafe in my own home (where the incident occurred) and I worry that, even when I get my car back, the same incident will occur and it’ll cost even more. Or worse, it’ll actually be successfully stolen. Even though my car wasn’t stolen (only broken into), they were able to steal my neighbor’s Hyundai the exact same night. I now have no vehicles for emergencies and day-to-day requirements and fear for the vehicle / my safety. My car has been inspected by a Hyundai dealership, progressive insurance, and baltimore police. I was never notified about this issue by Hyundai. I was never sent a warning or recall notice and when I ask why my VIN isn’t on recall, Hyundai corporate says they don’t know and that they can’t confirm if I have an immobilizer. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my car prior to this incident. No warning messages / lamps and no mechanical failures.

My car has been broken into twice in the past three months, with personal items being stolen each time: a child car seat, a child booster seat, an emergency inhaler medication for asthma, multiple charging cords, a bluetooth adapter system, and a workbag which contained medical equipment and scrubs and shoes. I need a new security system for my car with automatic locks.

I was not in an accident.
On three separate occasions my car has completely shut off while driving! I purchased it brand new in August 2022. Each time there was no warning lights or anything. I would notice I was losing speed. When I would look down at the dashboard and notice all the lights were off and the entire car was off. Each time it has happened I have been able to slow down and pull over. I've had to put the car in to "park" then restart the engine. It's a terrifying experience and I feel lucky that there were no cars in front of me. This has happened 3 times! twice I had children in the car. Once I was going 70 mph and another time I was turning a curve. It has been by far one of the scariest things in my life. I took it to the dealership multiple times but they can not replicate the problem so they keep dismissing the case. The Hyundai corporation has also dismissed my case. I've tried reaching out to the attorneys and the dealership owner. The car should not be allowed on the road. At this point I'm driving with a video camera per advice of an attorney. However, I'm terrified for when this will happen again. It has happened at random and unpredictable times so I never know. I posted on a facebook group and a few other people have commented that their Hyundai's are doing the same thing! they are running into the same problem with dealerships and corporate dismissing the cases.
The wiring connection between the blower motor into the hvac resistor is melting. There looks to be burn marks on the plastic female plug that goes into the resistor. I sometimes smell like plastic is burning. I have to keep fan at max speed to not use the resistor at all. I believe this could be a fire hazard.

The air bag warning light comes on frequently while I am driving and the passenger side air bag does not always turn off when there is not a passenger sitting in the passenger seat like it should. It is to the point where I am afraid to drive my car after spending a ridiculous amount of money on our family car. Please help us. Thank you in advance.
2016 Hyundai Accent only has approximately 132,000 miles and needs a new engine. Three different mechanic shops (one being a Hyundai dealership) looked at the vehicle and determined that it needed a new engine due to engine knock in lower end of engine. Car was well maintained and serviced regularly. Engine light came on intermittently but never stayed on to get a code. In early January 2022, engine started to have a loud knock and then codes were p0011, p0014, and p0420. Bank 1 problem, bank 2 problem, and possible exhaust leak. Decided to change vvt (or oil control valve) and the old one had silver shavings on it (probably aluminum). Shavings possibly from piston slapping and causing wear or camshaft bearing wearing. After reading online I have seen that this has been a common problem with the Hyundai vehicles between years 2015-2017 but the Accent is not on the recall list yet.
Rear wheels make squeaking noises and steel wheel is to hot to touch and breaks smell like they are burning.
