For reasons unknown I was at a stoplight. The car started shaking, and the check engine light started blinking, and then the light went off. Also, the steering wheel locks up at times and I’m unable to to move the steering wheel because it’s locked.

Bad engine crankshaft, engine is still under 150k miles. Experiencing same issues as other models with this engine have. Other vehicles have received a recall for engine and extended warranty protection but not this model pressing on gas throttle but low acceleration or none in some instances.

My 2016 Hyundai Accent engine has all of sudden stop working and I have explained to multiple shops and my insurance that I was deployed for a whole year and the car was driving fine and once I came back it just wouldn’t crank. Two Hyundai shops informed me that the engine is locked up but neither shop provided a thorough investigation as to why this has happened. There were two-three major hurricanes in texas where it was stored while I was deployed in kuwait and iraq from March 2023- March 2024 as well as another hurricane in georgia where I am currently located now which happened September 2024. The engine is locked with no explanation as to how and a Hyundai representative by the name of don who provided the goodwill repair on July 09 2024 and I had it towed to Hyundai in marietta and they looked and provided the same explanation that the engine is locked and to get it replaced with no detailed reasoning why. My safety has been at risk due to driving across states and town to get this vehicle serviced properly and causing mental anguish and depression as I am not able to get to where I need to go everyday which is causing friction in relationship and I am missing important events. I emailed the ceo randy parker and his executive assistant amanda has done nothing but further deny the goodwill with no explanation on how, why, what, when. No, the problem was not confirmed as again it was no detail reasoning behind how the engine locked when it was working fine before returning from overseas. The vehicle was inspected by the local Hyundai dealerships in killeen texas and another in marietta, GA and only inspected by one adjuster recently on October 10, 2024. There was no check engine illuminated in the car once I returned from overseas as it has not been driven much. There is still no check engine light illuminated even after all the shops checking. To make this right, I would like for Hyundai (hmusa) to honor the goodwill repair and or replacement of the engine.
The scanning system will track this mold. It can degrade and split. The gas tank is moldy and looks damp. It can cause fire the fuel filler tube clamp this mold can cause fire.

Our 2012 Hyundai Accent hatchback is not drivable at this time is is over at the service department through ron marhofer Hyundai of green in akron ohio, it has not been repaired yet. . Our vehicle was dropped off 10/11/2023 and today of this letter it's 02/01/2024 still no repair I am very upset because my wife is in stage 4 cancer and has to have treatments and now I am unable at this time to let her meet her medical needs. . I am so stressed about this mess the service manager is trying to provide us a loaner but we are waiting what I would like to happen if it cannot be repaired I would like a check for the difference so I can buy another vehicle like a buyback.
I was driving home with my children from the store, when my car started smoking, shut off, and the engine caught on fire. I barely made it out of the car with my toddlers before the whole thing was engulfed, and I lost all of my money, cards, and the majority of our clothing, as it had been in the trunk after having finished washing it at the laundromat up the street.
I started burning oil and was going through a quart of oil every 150 miles, then due to the excess oil consumption my catalytic converter went out.
My vehicle had a fuel injector lock open flooding the car until it damaged the O2 sensor and also contaminating the engine oil. The car went through about two and a half gallons of gas in 3 minutes. During the repair process I mentioned to the dealership that the engine oil smells like gas and was a quart and a half higher than what it was after the last oil change 5 days prior. I'm believing the quart and a half was most certainly all gas. The dealership informed me they could not repair the oil as it was not covered under warranty. If I wanted to dispute the warranty I had to contact Hyundai customer service. That was April 25th 2023 and as of may 23rd 2023 despite repeated phone calls Hyundai customer service they have never called me back. There are 2 safety issues in regards to this 1. When the fuel injector locked open dumping two and a half gallons of gas vapor in 3 minutes could easily have led to a fire or worse. 2. Refusing to replace the contaminated engine oil is a safety issue because gas in the oil will cause the engine to fail. If this happens on the interstate which I drive all the time it could lead to a catastrophic accident involving me and other cars. Eventually because I didn't have the money the dealership comped the oil change (I do not have the money for the change because had I changed the oil 5 days prior to the breakdown). The dealership recognized the safety hazard from contaminate engine oil but Hyundai motor company of America refuses to even call me back and if they had it their way would I would have just had me drive in a vehicle that represented a danger. The repair invoice has the oil change listed as warranty but it was not likely to be covered by warranty as the service customer service manager informed me they're going to have to fight with Hyundai and will probably end up competent in the long run. This was after 2 weeks of fighting with Hyundai to get them to pay for it and still they have never called me back.

2016 Hyundai Accent se 86,000 miles. My car has no acceleration I don't get on the highway due to this issue. It feels like the car is going to stop but it doesn't. I have to put the drive pedal to floor. To get desired speed. Also I have to put oil in the care weekly. Even after a oil change no oil is leaking to the eye. I ride around with oil in my car. Hyundai has been ineffective with any help the service manager say alot Hyundai mcdonough GA the service manager said he would do a diagnostic test when I get to the dealership at appointment time. That when he change everything around so Hyundai absolutely suck. No check engine light come on due to my financial situation im unable to pay the high fees for a diagnostic test. So I keep oil in the car and don't get on the highway. . . . .
Car turns off while driving continuesly misfires even after replacing coils and spark plugs check engine light on and flashes car charger port keeps blowing fuses.
My vehicle does the same thing as NHTSA id number: 11423521 and now I know not to bother taking it in for service for this issue. I was validated when I read that complaint as I have and continue to experience the same non-responsive issue when I accelerate from a complete stop ever since the vehicle was purchased 2020 February. This form asks for a specific date but there is no specific date. It happens every time I drive the vehicle. The issue can be erratic and I never know when I can or can’t depend on the vehicle’s acceleration and live in fear of causing a wreck or worse inuring / killing someone else. I get honked at all the time from impatient drivers insisting I pull out while I wait to make sure there is more than enough time to pull out and accelerate safely. Impatient drivers be hanged and pay attention to your own driving.

Driving down the highway car caught fire.
Whenever I get gas even when I pump really slow when I go to remove the nozzle gas spurts out. I have had the charcoal cannister replaced as well as replacing the gas cap but it still happens. This is very dangerous since gas is leaking onto the car and area surrounding it.

My 17 yr old son was driving his 2018 Hyundai Accent home from work, and was merging onto the freeway and when he realized the cars in front of him dead stopped he slammed his brakes but was unable to stop in time. Happens all the time right? it should just have a little front end damage, when the vehicle in front of him only had minor bumper damage. But, instead, within just moments, his vehicle burst into flames and he only had seconds to react. He grabbed his phone and wallet and had to exit through the passenger door because he was on the freeway and needed to get to safety. His car was completely engulfed in flames and burnt the entire car. He was very close to being either badly burned or killed, if he hadn’t acted as Smart and quick as he did. What if this car was carrying a family with small children, or an elderly person who couldn’t move fast or react like my son did. It could have been a much, much worse situation. I just don’t want this to happen to anyone else. We, along with everyone else at the scene, including chp and friends who are mechanics, believed this fire should not have happened, and we all feel like something must have been wrong with his vehicle for this fire to have happened. We just purchased this vehicle in sept of 2021 from mission bay Chevrolet, we had only made 2 payments at the time of the accident. We have seen far worse accident and far worse front end damage on other vehicles and these car did not catch on fire. Cars aren’t supposed to catch on fire in an accident if this nature, this should not have happened, and we really want some answers as to why? thank you for your time!.

Cam shaft split system emission failure . Lighter socket not working. Valvolibe oil change 7/16/21 mail recall. Recieved 7/1721 vehichle loud sound. . Acceleration not speeding . Car. Not drivable.
I change my oil on the date that it's due it my miles whichever comes first. I was out of town 2-20-21. The car was driving really rough. . Red light came in then off. The next day, my boyfriend took it to get and oil change which I still had 1,000 miles until the next oil change. They told him it was the oil pump. I don't understand how this would have happened bc I faithfully change my oil. I haven't been driving it bc they said it will blow up the motor. I have an appointment to get it towed and fixed. It's going to cost over $600. 00. I have talked to several people they say it's to new of a car to have the oil pump mess up.

On 2/11/21, I was driving north on i294 when I suddenly lost acceleration. I had several near misses with a semi and the vehicles behind me. I pulled over, checked the vehicle and did not find an issue. I went back on the road and then the check engine light began flashing. I took the car into the shop, where it was found to have a bad catalytic converter, spark plugs, and ignition coils. This was not something that happened over time. It was very quick. I had the parts replaced. 700 miles later, on 2/25/21, the same exact thing happened. Again, very close to wrecking and causing a very serious accident. I took the car in again, and they were shocked to find the catalytic converter had melted. Per mechanic, it is due to service bulletin 428 and 429. Please note that there is only one area for adding speed, and one area for description of issue. This occured while driving on the highway, and continued until the car was taken to the shop, twice, on two different dates.
While driving on the interstate, car decelerated and would not go past 5 mph. Had to get it towed. Throttle body replaced and now needs the the catalyt converter replaced in which I do not have the funds. There is an ongoing "ticking/clicking" sound in the engine, check engine light is currently on. While driving and coming to a red light, the car engine revved and the car started accelerating even though my foot was firmly on the brake. Car made a jerking move so I threw the gear into n and then park to stop the revving. Car is currently parked.
Okay, I'm going to try my best at explaining what I am experiencing. This is my second Hyundai Accent. The first car I had was a 2004 Accent. The second car I have now is a 2015. Both cars have the same exact problem. And I am not fixing it. This is definitely a manufacturing error. It's so dangerous too, because my engine could just blow up. Anywhoooo, both cars just burn oil like gas. I repeat, burn oil like gas. I need to check the oil every (at the most) 2 weeks because of how badly oil is just burning up. Also, there is a "check engine" code being thrown for something small in the evap system. Same cars, 11 years apart. Same problems!? I don't think that is right whatsoever. I have researched ongoing recalls & expired recalls. To my disappointment, I find nothing. This is a major issue. There is absolutely zero irony in 2 cars, being 11 years apart, newer one being a 6 speed manual, having the same issues exactly. I was so happy to get a newer one, thinking, "OH there can't be possibly anything wrong with this model". Wrong. Absolutely, positively no car should have to dump almost 5 quarts of oil in your car every 1000 miles or less. I constantly need to buy 1 or 2 quarts of oil biweekly for this 2015 Hyundai Accent. I can't just get rid of it, cars are expensive! this is absolutely the manufacturers problem. So I am going above their heads to get this taken care of. Monday, I want to try and call Hyundai, either the one near me, or some "hotline". This is unacceptable. My car will show that "low oil pressure" light and my heart just drops. "I just put oil in it!". I say to myself. Do not get me wrong. I love my car. I want my car taken care of. As, when I bought it, blaise alexander *apparently* didn't know about it. And they flat out lied about the check engine light! I've had numerous people look at it. They hardly have an answer. Its expensive and labor intensive. Please help me solve this problem. I am not the only one. -morgan buerk.
The red air bag light is always on, and the passenger sensor is always off even when there is a passenger. I am concerned that if I were to be in a serious accident, the air bags will not deploy. This started at about 115,000 miles. The car also recently started to eat up my gas for no valid reason. I drove 1. 5 miles, yet used up 10 miles of gas, entirely abiding by traffic laws and signs.
I am very unsatisfied with the fact that I have to get my oil changed 1 every month, due to burning oil as well as hard ride. My car will not pass inspection after 2024, due to emissions, I paid $600 to get a passed sticker and sick of dumping money into this vehicle. There have been so many recalls on this car. What is Hyundai willing to do ? I’ve purchased this vehicle in 2013 from brad benson Hyundai on route 1. Please get my car running normal again. I have most of my receipts for all repairs and maintenance. I have 150,000 miles on the vehicle. Please help valvoline informed me of engine recall for my vehicle.
It started runing bad I pull over smoke comeing from fire wall I put it out /next day I started it and turn it off/ the check engine light is on/ only 54000. 00 miles/thank you/runing on the highway.

As I go up a hill or rapidly accelerate on an incline the check engine light will come on. The problem points to the knock sensor (code p0326) being at fault. This does not happen often but when it does it is disconcerting. I replaced the knock sensor with a new oem part, but it too acts the same as the old one. I called the dealer and they want to charge me $90 to diagnose the problem and then any labor/parts needed to repair it. However, I have read several reports online about a software update, flashing the ecu has fixed the problem. If this is so, shouldn't this be a reason for a recall?.
Car has extremely hard time starting when you put fuel in changed all sensors and purge valve no help mechanic is stumped.
Car is accelerating by itself, and continues to increase speed after the gas pedal is no longer pressed. This occurs while in motion on city streets, on highways, and when turning. And when stationary or in neutral the rpms will jump by 1500 to 2000 rpms. Is a manual transmission and the rpms jump up 1500+ when shifting gears. Started happening around 55,000 miles dealer reset the ecm which resolved the issue temporarily but came back within 2 weeks, car now has 61,000 miles and has been getting worse.
After starting the engine and tapping on the accelerator, the car will accelerate on it's own and rev up to 1,500-2000 rpm without pressing on the accelerator. Even when braking. Returning the car to neutral causes the engine to rev up to or beyond 2,000 rpm until the vehicle has been turned off. This incident first occurred in April 2016. I was told there was an issue with the sensors by the Hyundai dealership. The issue resurfaced again in January 2017. This time they told me it was due to a carbon buildup in the fuel system. Now it's doing it again. I have seen many other reports of this happening to hyndai's on the internet. This is a huge safety issue.
This vehicle has totally destroyed and flooded by hurricane maria 09/20/2017. I made claim and insurance did not declared it as " lost" because it has a new vehicle. Safety features on steering wheel wont function , dash , radio, floor, seats, rear trunk was flooded. According to the manufacture company , the vehicle lost it's warranty because it has flooded. I don't need an accident and experiment air bags failure, all media system don't work to keep my hands on steering wheel.
Each time I put gas in the car I have difficulty getting the car to start up. About after the third try to start it goes then cuts off after going a few feet so it start and then cuts off a few times before it gets going. Putting gas in the car the pumps leaver stops before finishing gassing up.

Around 50000 miles the car would over rev about 1000-2000 rpm when the clutch was released and foot off of the gas. It has progressively gotten worse. Now it will on its own while standing at idle run up to 5000-6000 rpm without warning and the only way to stop it is to turn the car off. When in gear, the car will accelerate without warning. If you depress the clutch, again it will run up to 5000-6000 rpm. The problem becomes exacerbated in warmer weather and lessened in cold weather. During the 12/24 heat wave here in PA, the car was undriveable and dangerous as I could not depend on it not "taking off". The dealer updated the software on 12/22 which did not resolve the issue, and no codes were found in the computer! before 50,000 miles everything was fine.
Always needed oil.
A trip turned into twice being stranded on the side of the road with this car. Never been out of the bay area with it. It starts skipping a few beats, loses acceleration. Recovers itself until the next time. Becomes quite intermittent after that point. I got to jacksonville after leaving here. Lost power, tossed white smoke out the tail pipe. Just lugs along and then recovers. So I pulled off the freeway. Into a shopping mall. Turned it off. Started it again? nothing but white smoke out the back end. I called a tow truck. Had it towed into the local Hyundai dealership. Where after an hour? they had done some type of emissions clean out? and a transmission flush. Out of pocket? $289. I leave. I decide to come back home instead. I just didn't trust this car the rest of the way to va. . I get to ocala. Merging on to the 75 interchange? two cars and a semi behind me. A semi to the left side had to move over because I punched the gas to merge on? stalled, something went boom under me? and so much white smoke behind me? it engulfed the vehicles behind me. It literally lost power and I had to coast over to the shoulder? then recovered itself. I got it to the rest area a mile up the road. Called a tow truck again. Had it towed to the local Hyundai dealership. These people replaced the cat converter and a sensor. The rest of the trip home. At the 60 mile mark again? it starts up again. Spitting and sputtering. Losing acceleration. . Trucks behind me. I'm praying by this point. I eventually pulled off at the wesley chapel exit * and slowly made it home back to clearwater. Hyundai America is who I called at this point. Took it in yet again to a local Hyundai dealership who as usual after 2 days? find absolutely nothing wrong. I get it back? and it sounds worse and runs worse than it ever did now. Sounds like a puttering volkswagon. I am seriously afraid of this car. Seriously!.
Got car in 2011 in 2015 it stopped working after making loud noises that began with a chirp, found out it was alternator and battery. Had to borrow to fix it it was 700. 00 +. 14 months later it did it again, the shop guy was so angry he contacted his parts guy and got another alternator, I had the car towed to joseph's garage and they installed the second alernator! now its doing it again!!!! I cannot keep doing this. Going to ftc, bbb, and attorney general. Also federal consumer protection.
I'm driving my car for almost two years now and the lights for the air bags are still on and have never went off. So I thought, supposedly may be the fuse needs to be replaced but so far to this date I cannot determine what's the issue other than a faulty air bag system. No I haven't taken the car to a dealer yet, but I need to know am I the only person having this issue. I love the vehicle besides its unintentional poor gas usage I am a satisfied customer. But perhaps maybe its time to start searching for a more efficient newer car. Be careful when buying used cars everybody.
