This car has a recall which put my child and others at risk. It also has a recall for excessive corrosion, which has made the suspension unrepairable. It only has 124k miles. I would like Hyundai to take the car from me and give me the remaining value so I can reimburse my child, who had to buy a car that was safe to drive.

I was driving and all of a sudden my car was shaking and I lost my traction control and I could not stop my car with brakes. I have abs and traction control warning lights on in my vehicle.

After driving over a train track at low speed the front passenger coil spring snapped and it ripped up the tire. The car is not drivable. It seems that this has happened to other models around the same year and it shouldn’t have failed at only 110k miles.

Campaign number 22v311000 unsecured steering column: have not received the owner notification letter.
Tech foud rust all over the undecarriage and to fix the issue with the torsion axle assembly, it was decide to replace all the torsion axle assembly and other items. The campaign 992 recall was initiated because Hyundai acknowledged that the underbody corrosion protection applied to certain vehicles was insufficient. The torsion axle assembly was before the campaign 992 recall. A rembusment for that was submitted and approved by Hyundai but suddley they reject it.
Repair shop did not perform alignment requested on 2001 Hyundai Accent. One reason was: "cradle is rusted through" similar recalls exist for Hyundai elantra (similar design) and sonata (engine cradle) for same model year. This represents a dangerous condition. Vehicle is operated in wisconsin, where roads are salted in winter.

My mechanic told me in April 2020 my 2001 Hyundai Accent is not safe to drive because the sub frame has decayed up to were it connects to the body underneath.
I was interested in this car but before purchasing I took it to firestone for a pre-purchase inspection. One of the repairs needed was a cv axle. It was popping when you make turns and visibly leaking grease. The dealership refused to make any repairs without drastically increasing the price. Essentially, they would make more money selling this unsafe vehicle to an unsuspecting buyer. If a cv axle fails when a person is driving, it would mean complete loss of the vehicle and therefore obvious consequences. I understand a used car needing maintenance, however this is complete negligence that could result is someone losing their life. Please investigate earnestly, I'm guessing this isn't the first nor the last time this will happen at this dealership. You can see which dealership I'm referring to by looking at the ownership record and the date of incident, or by contacting me directly.

The engine light is blinking on the dashboard and making too much sound from the engine, took the car to mechanic he said problem with O2 sensors and catalyst system effieciency (p0420) code.
Rear right shock mounting nut ,all 4 welds broken off frame shock mount. . I was told by 3 mechanics this is a factory defect. Dealer wont cover , 5yr ,60,000 mile warranty up. Car only has 48,000 miles on it.
While driving on interstate in phoenix at noon on a dry and clear day, traffic stopped abruptly. I rear-ended a full sized pickup truck. The front end went mostly under the truck, shattered the upper half of the bumper and headlights, folded the hood in half. The windshield was also broken. My head hit the steering wheel and no airbags were deployed. The police report estimated speed at impact to be 25 mph but there was not an extensive investigation.
In November 2016 the exhaust pipe from the front axle to the muffler fell off due to brackets rusting. A couple weeks later a recall notice was received from Hyundai about rusting to the chassis and suspension. Repair work was done at the time of the incident. Hyundai sprayed the underside for rust-proofing, then denied a reimbursement claim on the exhaust system. In April 2017 the rocker arms and rotors had rusted, and required full braking system and rocker arm replacement. In June 2017 the entire suspension system required replacement, due to rusting of the shocks and struts. An attempt to file a second claim for reimbursement cannot be processed through Hyundai's website, citing the VIN number and last name matching the original request that was denied without explanation.

(my car has been driven modestly since purchase on 1/15/16) there are roughly 40,760 miles on my car. 1/31/16 I turned out of my work parking lot, made a left. My steering became uncontrollable at less than 15mph. I have a steady hand. I remained calm. But when I tried to break to prevent a possible collision into anything after the steering seemed to have gone out, I braked harder than normal, but not slammed. The car jerked uncontrollably as I pressed on the break, it felt like the breaks were jumping/hitting the ground. On the same3-5mile drive home this happened several more times, drove half the speed limit and still persisted. This is cause for anxiety for any future driving. If panic had of taken over because such issues that alone could have been my life. I had quick thinking when this happened, not everyone does. My car is definitely not okay and I had several "almost" collisions on this one drive home when I was alert and aware something was wrong. Granted it periodically worked as it should of, it never shouldn't have. Had this not happened at low speeds when the first profound lose of control occurred due to a mechanical issue, not driver error. And had I not been on alert with my hand awaiting to use the e-brake after it became very apparent something was not okay. . I undoubtedly would have totaled my car and would like to stress the risk of injury that happened at low speeds. Granted, I handled myself well, and made it home in one piece I fell apart after I was safe at home , after it sunk in what could have happened to me. My car is not safe for driving. There is a service bulletin(service bulletin no. : TSB-13-at-008 ) (NHTSA id number: 10052147)(hyundaiaccent2012-2013) that I believe this is related to and I very much would like to know if the repairs needed to make my vehicle safe again will be at no cost to me.
Driving, all road conditions the car drifts left or right and the steering wheel feels like it hits a stop point and correction has to be made constantly. Dealer gave me another 2013 elantra to test drive and it drove well without the problems of my car. And it had more milage than mine.
The vehicle is making a noise when you are stearing the gear.

I was driving approximately 20mph when I heard a breaking noise from underneath my 2010 Hyundai Accent when I lost steering power, the brakes didn't work and the accelerator as well. This caused me to lose control of my car resulting in me crashing into another parked vehicle. Thank god it wasn't on a hwy going 65-70 mph. I see there aren't any recalls on any of the mentioned problems. Also to note I had to replace a coil pack that I read another owner had problems and the airbag light came on and I'm thinking there's also a problem with that too. Thanks Hyundai for not keeping your consumers safe. How many people have to die in accidents cause of manufacture defects before they investigate and issue a recall. I will never purchase another Hyundai. Buyer be warned!.

Front suspension for both right and left sides has excessive play.
I merged on to the freeway on ramp increasing my speed as normal. Witness states I was driving in the center of the street. All of a sudden my vehicle lost traction and starting swirving right and left as if a tire had blown out. I try to get control of the vehicle by letting off of the gas and steering straight when my steering wheel locked up and I was unable to move the steering wheel. I tried to hold the steering wheel straight as my car vered off the side of the freeway and rolled over once. I had three small children in the back seat buckled and secured and my car landed on its tires. No airbags deployed during the rollover accident and I was unable to get control of the vehicle due to the steering wheel being locked and the sudden loss of control. Once I had pulled my children out of the vehicle I noticed non of the tires had blown but my entire front end of my vehicle was destroyed. Prior to the accident there had been no noticable problems with the car and the accident was due to a mechanical issue or faulty assembly of the vehicle.

I have continued to have problems with the braking system, steering and suspension which started when I was coming home from picking my son up from school Dec. 21 2012. There was snow on the road and I tried to slow down going down an incline but the brakes caused the car to jump, the steering would not respond fast enough and the suspension felt like we were riding on metal rims. I almost hit a telephone pole but we slowed in the softer snow which wasn't beat down yet. Ever since then when there is snow or icy roads especially up here in the mountains of west virginia I test the brakes, steering and suspension on the road I live on before going on the highway. Oh, I forgot to mention that if you should be unfortunate enough to hit a pothole it does through the car to the right if your right front wheel catches it and if your left front wheel catches one it will put you into oncoming traffic. I had this happen to me several times over the past years.
At 33,000 miles the tires had to be replaced but I thought this was acceptable mileage for low profile tires. Then one year later at 58,000 miles, the tires had to be replaced again, now at 77,000 miles, the tires are getting to a point of replacement again. The tire wear is excessive on the rear of the car. The tires are rotated every 6,000 miles and kept properly inflated. Each time the tires have been replaced a 4 wheel alignment was performed. The printout I have indicates the rear of the car is out of acceptable specs. I let Hyundai perform the last alignment and they did not mention any repairs were needed and would not let me keep a copy of the alignment printout. I recently had another alignment specialist just look at the car and he suggested I take it to a body shop to have the rear suspension of the car reworked/replaced in order to get the rear tires close to where they should be located. In good weather there is a constant need to turn the steering wheel to keep the car in the correct lane. The car is difficult to drive in any kind of inclement weather because of the constant need to correct the direction of travel. In snow and ice the car constantly "fish tales". When a bump in the road is encountered and one of the rear tires bounces, the rear of the car will dart to the side that the tire has less contact with the road.
Aug 2011 bought 2010 Accent automatic with 38,000 miles . After I complained of vehicle vibration [a known problem to Hyundai] dealer and manufacturer replaced two transmission mounts as defective but refused to fix erratic idle and passenger area vibration at idle. Non-Hyundai mechanics said vibration caused by defective upper engine mount. The better business bureau and Hyundai consultant verified the vibration was still there but Hyundai refused to fix it. I read newspaper article that said Hyundai engineers worked hard on models to fix the vibration and other suspension problems so I traded the 2010 dog in August 2012 for 2013 Accent se 5-door automatic, thinking lightning cannot strike twice in the same spot. Now about 1000 miles and 2 months and there is play in motor mounts, vibration in steering wheel with compressor on, erratic idle, rough ride and bouncy floating suspension, and other small items, but vibration in passenger area 90% gone. Fuel economy not as advertised. I took car for inspection after online appointment with most conveniently located dealer l. A. Hyundai at lax [not selling dealer] and manufacturer ; three employees including owner and service manager would not inspect the car , shouting match ensued, they called police to remove me and car from the lot. See youtube site legaladvocate71 for videos and site attorney-ethics-elderly-abuse. Com. Police ordered me off the lot. Still have not gotten inspection. Hyundai does not back their cars and will lie, retaliate, and threaten you with arrest if you seek service. This is a horrible auto buying experience. This does not include what happened at the selling dealer. Without availability of warranty service, the car is worthless now and forever in all areas. Hyundai will order you arrested if you complain.
August 2011 purchased 2010 Hyundai Accent auto. 4 door sedan. VIN [xxx]. As previously reported to the NHTSA, in March 2012 a better business bureau arbitrator ruled that the car had suffered manufacturer defect transmission mounts. The dealer did replace the two mounts which substantially reduced a front end and passenger compartment vibration and shaking. Some vibration remained; I took the car back to the dealer. At two dealers I was told by about six Hyundai employees that the remaining vibration was "normal". But I went for another inspection, the mechanic noted the vibration and said it was normal. But thirty minutes later, the service dealer wrote vibration "cannot be duplicated". So the arbitrator and Hyundai corporate consultant [xxx] in writing witnessed the constant vibration and made such ruling after Hyundai dealer said "could not be duplicated. " October 2012 Hyundai's [xxx] said vibration had been fixed; this was not true. The defective mounts need to be the subject of recall for the safety of other Hyundai owners. The 2013 Accent. Purchased August 2012. The owner manual says check for vibration in the steering wheel; and have loose bolts checked at 15,000 miles. By online appointment I asked the dealer: "engine idle is erratic, not smooth, please adjust; with air conditioning running, car idling in park, vibration felt thru steering wheel, please adjust; when put in gear, engine moves, please adjust motor mounts. " la Hyundai at lax cancelled the appointment and with corporate [xxx] refused to inspect the vehicle August 15 in person on. . Read more...
Car owners will have to take matters into their own hands. After 3 dealers, contacts with Hyundai motors America corporate, and at least two contacts with the better business auto line, others and this manufacturer could care less about their cars and even less about the car owners. I think the ftc and NHTSA are bull. November 19 inglewood California small claims court case [xxx] judge ruled marina automotive llc dba la Hyundai at lax engaged in "concerted failure to provide warranty service and constitutional public accommodation" did not have an "anti-discrimination policy" and "did not honor rights" of a car owner. Judge found Hyundai dealer liable for $609 repair costs plus $115 court costs after owner of a 2010 had to go elsewhere for inspection after no inspection by the dealer. And a better business bureau complaint is pending against Hyundai and its dealer asking for the license revocation of both and equitable damages of $25 million dollars each after dealer and Hyundai motor America refused to inspect 2013 Hyundai. The dealer la Hyundai at lax's agent [xxx] said on August 15 voice mail to car owner after refusing to inspect: ". . . We have consulted with Hyundai and we are completely within our rights not to service your vehicle. . . . We read your blog of yesterday. . . And all the claims you made. . . We have already verified with Hyundai that we do not need to accept any clients. . . Please don't come to buy a car or to do any other type of shopping here . . . . For servicing it is probably best you go back to [the dealer] where you bought it from. . . . We are under no obligation to service any vehicles for any customer that we are not able to satisfy. " note that none of what the Hyundai employee alleges here is stated in any of Hyundai's advertisements or warranties. The warranty says a car can be taken to "any authorized dealer" for warranty inspection and repair. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Purchased approx Aug 10 2011 from carmax. Noticed vibration or shudder from steering wheel in park and idling, more pronounced on right side of engine, right side of car into back seat. Some vibration and shudder while decelerating at speed and around 20 mph. Took the car to Hyundai lax los angeles around September 2011. They claimed the car had 4 motor mounts (engine and trans I assume) and that 2 of the mounts were bad. At different times they described the mounts as "broken", "cracked", and "stretched". They installed the two mounts (lower front and back location to me) calling them "revised". I asked to see the bad mounts but they did not show them to me. The repair reduced the side vibration by about 90% but the vibration was still there. The steering wheel vibration is unchanged. I immediately took it back to the dealer and also to Hyundai vermont, los angeles. Both service managers and technicians said the remaining vibration is "normal" (their words) but they put down on the repair sheet that the vibration was gone which was not true. I told them the vibration is not normal especially for a brand new car that costs over $12,000. They said all Hyundai 4 cylinders have the same vibration. The vibration remains. I have read online two Hyundai technicians who claim the vibration could be caused by defective upper engine mount, loose timing chain or belt, defective harmonic balancer. I have seen this week a video on the Hyundai sonata and its vibration; my car makes the same vibration and noise, almost like one of the plugs is missing. (I had an engine diagnosis and it said all electrical is ok; no check engine codes are showing). I have also read about the September 26 recall of the Hyundai sonata for vibration problems. I think the 2010 Hyundai should also face recall since the dealer has admitted the vibration.
Unsafe Hyundai manufacturer defect. Better business bureau auto line arbitrator arthur c. Devine has determined that Hyundai has manufacturer defect of motor mounts. Documents to the arbitrator indicate this is an unsafe condition in that the suspension could separate from the vehicle. Hyundai is? not safe. The bbb claim is hyu1216311. From a may 12 hearing the problem results in an unrepaired constant vibration throughout the passenger compartment with the car idling in park. All Hyundai models should face recall for this dangerous condition. Hyundai officials have refused to fix the condition, motor mounts, and suspension, claiming the unsafe vehicle is "normal" and "operating as designed. " other online reports support that claim that the suspension is not securely bolted to the body. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the ignition, battery and problems with stalling. The dealer performed a diagnostic that located the failures at the battery cable, the ignition wiring system and the front suspension was corroded. In addition, the engine oil container and starter motor connector was also corroded. The dealer replaced the battery cable and several other unknown parts but the failure was not corrected and the vehicle continued to stall. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 1,200 and the current mileage was 3,000. Kmj.
The car is has a very low body. As such, it gets damaged every time the car goes over a bump. The car has not yet hit 100,000 miles and it is already falling apart. I reached out to Hyundai and asked them to take a look but they declined.
The contact owns a 2009 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that the brake pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard when depressed. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer several times, but the failure was not corrected. The dealer replaced the brake cylinder four times. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told that the vehicle was operating in the manner in which it was designed. The failure mileage was 75 and the current mileage was 34,000. The horn was replaced. Also, the consumer problems with the front end, the tires were cupping, as a result the front end had to be aligned. Also, there were water stains on the carpet. It appeared water entered the vehicle through the holes in the tire wells. The oil drain plug was replaced. Updated 09/02/14.
