The contact owns a 2000 Hyundai Accent. While driving approximately 15 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers failed to activate. She took the vehicle to a mechanic and was informed that the windshield wipers were disconnected at the ball joint and motor. The failure is identical to the one mentioned in NHTSA campaign id number 00v096000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer:linkages). The current and failure mileages were 112,000.

While driving down highway it was raining, turned on windshield wipers, and then they stopped. This has happened twice. Contacted dealer, and he stated that the windshield wiper linkage came loose from the wiper motor.
