2 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2006 Hyundai Azera

Failure Date: 11/14/2018

Any time I let my foot off the gas the car dashboard lights dim, the radio loses volume, and the headlights dim. This is all very noticable. Recently the car would sometimes feel as though the brakes had been stomped on. When this happens I get and abs system failure alert on the dashboard and my check engine light turns on. A couple of times this happened it has completely shut off the engine. Because it turned off I didn't have power steering, so I had to pull over and restart my engine. This happens as I'm driving, I noticed it happens when it shifts down gears. Sometimes when I accelerate and the car shift gears up it can happen as well. I found a notice about a recall on these cars for the abs module system issue. Recall #172.

3 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2011 Hyundai Azera

Failure Date: 03/07/2018

Nhtsa campaign # 18v-026 says the Azera abs electronics can collect water and short out causing a fire while the car is in a garage or not being used. But failure of the electronics because of water leaking into the system also affects the operation of the abs where it cannot work when needed. The recall addresses rewiring the abs so no power is present in the water leaking abs module when the vehicle is not operating and parked but does not address failure of the abs without fire from water leakage when the vehicle is driven. Hyundai should replace all Azera abs systems that are prone to water leakage to preclude the abs systems not working properly in and during braking emergencies. Unattended vehicle fires are one thing, abs failure to operate as designed because of water leakage during emergency braking risks my life and those of others. The faulty components should be replaced to preclude abs failures when emergency abs braking is needed.

Kennesaw Hyundai in kennesaw, georgia was contacted about the series of failures and stated that the failures corrected themselves. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 80,000.

5 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2008 Hyundai Azera

Failure Date: 08/27/2013

I had abs failure light on Aug 27th, 2013. When I checked with my friend, I found out he has the same issue in his car. We both purchased the same type of cars from the same dealer in April 2008. The warranty expired just few months ago. The timing of the issue is puzzling to me. How come both cars have abs system failure during the same week?.
