I was driving up to a busy intersection where there was a red light. I was just starting to brake when my steering got stiff and my car wasn't following the curve of the street. I looked at the dash and all my lights were on. My car had turned off. I didn't know if I was too low on gas but the gas light wasn't on. I put the car in neutral and turned the ignition, which started right back up. I pulled into the gas station and filled up the tank. I didn't have another issue until today, 9-9-15, when I was driving down a slight hill going about 40 getting ready to get into the turn lane when again the steering got stiff and I looked down and realized all my lights on the dash were on. I had half a tank of gas at the time. . . Both times I was able to put it in neutral to restart it without a problem. Both times have been on busy streets with my children in the car. . . . This is an issue!! I called the dealership where I bought it last year and since they were close to closing ended up not helping me. I will call them again tomorrow to find out what the heck is going on. . . .
On Wednesday November 5, at approximately 5:40am, the 2009 Azera came up to an intersection. Failure to stop caused the driver to run the stop sign. The car became lodged underneath a semi tractor trailer, and was dragged several feet before the semi stopped. The driver of the car was killed instantly. He did not have a medical issue that caused the accident. The driver drove this road everyday. They were aware of the stop sign, and had a spotless driving record. Unfortunately there is nothing left of the car to prove that the brakes failed. Only the trunk remains.

I own a 2008 and 2009 Hyundai Azera. On 10/28/14 I had to replace the leaking valve cover gaskets at 50,288 miles on the 2009 Azera and on 12/6/14 I had to make the same repairs on the 2008 Azera at 54,035 miles (VIN# kmhfc46f88a313352). The Azera has the exact same engine as the Hyundai veracruz. Models 2007-2012 of the veracruz were recalled on 7/10/14 for the exact same problem (recall 121). When I contacted Hyundai they refused any assistance and said they would only make free repairs on the veracruz even though the engine in the Azera is exactly the same. The Azera should have been included in the recall with the veracruz and Hyundai should make the repairs to the Azera free of charge. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
Tried unlocking the door with the remote, didn't work, used the key to unlock the door, inside lights didn't come on. When I put the key in the ignition, nothing happened,no lights,no clicking,no nothing. . Like the whole car just completely shut down,no type of power.
The engine blew at 81,000 miles in a well maintained vehicle no warning lights ever came on. Hyundai corp and customer service took no ownership for this problem. No choice but to purchase a refurbished engine. The vehicle had been in for routine service 2 weeks earlier and no problems detected. Very unhappy with this product and the last of responsibility by Hyundai corp.
Intermittent starting problems with 2006 Hyundai Azera. Approximately every 20 instances, the car doesn't start. Dealer service center checked the auto and indicated that they couldn't recreate the problem. Edmunds website identifies several complaints of the same problem in 2006 Hyundai Azera. This could be classified as a safety concern when exposed to late night crime with a disabled auto.
