I have had a fire risk warning safety recall on my car for 1. 5 years and there is no remedy for it. This puts my safety at risk daily, as well as everyone around me.
I took my car to millennium Hyundai in garden city, new york on June 22, 2024 to fix NHTSA recall # 23v651000 (manufacturer recall # 251). The dealer claimed the repair was completed and I have documentation to this effect (see service summary, attached). However, neither Hyundai nor the dealer ever updated the NHTSA database to show that this recall repair was completed, so my car still shows that it has an open recall. I do not want this to be an issue when I sell the car. The dealer refuses to take responsibility for updating the database. Either the dealer did not complete the repair as required, or the dealer is refusing to update the database as required. Either way, the dealer is clearly not in compliance with NHTSA regulations and requirements. Please take whatever actions are necessary against millennium Hyundai. Thank you.
While pulling out onto a major main road, my car just stopped. The rpm's remained on zero after I restarted the car. I had to get it towed. The engine light was on, and it had trouble restarting. The code read camshaft. The mechanic replaced the camshaft and no other codes registered. It shut off two times after the camshaft was replaced. I took it back to the mechanic and it shut off on him 5 times. This car is unsafe. I am afraid to drive it, especially with have a young child.
I was driving my car for 3 minutes, made a left and all the sudden every light on the dashboard came on, the vehicle slowed and the engined died. I was able to get to the side of the street and park the car safely. It took two times for the car to start back up. I called Hyundai santa monica dealership and was able to bring my car in. I have been here all day and since they cannot replicate the issue, they do not know what is wrong with the car. They also are not seeing a history of all the dashboard lights coming on. I have called Hyundai customer care and have started a claim with them as I do not feel safe driving this vehicle with an unknown issue. I was fortunate enough to be on a side street, but if this has happened in traffic or on a freeway, I would absolutely have been hit as the car immediately slowed and died without warning. There were no warning signs at the time this happened. I brought my car in for another issue a few weeks ago as there was a problem with the gas gauge and sensors. Previously, the car (on a filled gas take), would flash the gas tank, look empty, and the car slowed and stopped. They said they fixed this prior issue. I am worried to drive this car as I do not know what is wrong with it, and at this point, they do not know either. I have contacted Hyundai customer care team and filed a claim. I am waiting for a case manager to return my call and information on the next steps.
I received the recall notice for recall 251, NHTSA recall #23v651000. Per the instructions, I have been parking my car outside while awaiting the remedy. I have checked back numerous times to see if a remedy was available. Yesterday my driver's side lock in the handle was broken in an attempted break-in/theft, which most certainly would not have happened if the car was in my garage. I believe the company has not remedied the defect in a reasonable time period and the delay has directly led to further damage of my vehicle.
It has been six months since this recall (manufacturer recall number 251; NHTSA recall number 23v651000) was issued. It is not yet complete. This is an unreasonable amount of time to wait for a remedy.
There is still not a remedy and we have been notified of this problem since November. Having to wait 6 months for a remedy and the chance that it might catch on fire is highly dangerous and scary! there is no reason that this should take so long. Can the manufacturer not do something about this.
The recall was issued in September and to date in February there is no remedy. The manufacturer has failed to provide remedy in a timely manner, leaving millions of vehicles unsafe for drivers including myself.
Unknown.
There is no fix for the car and I cannot park the car where it would not injure persons or property the solution is for Hyundai to replace the car or give me a free rental car till there is a fix -2013 Elantra is subject to fire.
There has been an open recall on my car, where it might catch fire, for months, and there is still no resolution. This seems crazy to me. My kids ride in that car.
Recall #251 has not been resolved after nearly three months (recall is dated September 22, it is now December 15). I do not feel this is a timely resolution for an urgent issue that could cause a vehicle fire.
There was no incident. I’m complaining because Hyundai has yet to do anything to address the recall Sep 22,2023 manufacturer recall number251 NHTSA recall number23v651000. Why aren’t you insisting that Hyundai starts repairing vehicles affected by a recall issued last September. And the last time my car was recalled for a different recall I had to wait 2 months to get an appointment with my dealer. So who knows how long it will take to resolve this current recall. How can you allow them to take so long to fix this serious problem. Do something!!.
I received a notice that I am driving a potential bomb and they will fix it. They are building a factory in my area for making new cars, but shouldn't they be required to fix their old cars before making new ones. They have no date for fixing my car which, basically, makes me without a vehicle indefinitely, which could be forever, if ever. I am unable to purchase a new car, so here I am with a bomb.
Unknown, fire hazard to park or drive vehicle. Expedited measurements need to be taken on recall. . . Reimbursement for a rental car until the problem can be fixed. Hazardous conditions if fire potential.
I'm reaching out in concern for the Hyundai safety recall (Hyundai recall number 251). The letter, I received on 11/14/23, said my car is part of the recall. There is currently no remedy. The only recommendation is to not drive the car and leave it parked away from structures. The 251 recall started 9/22/23. There has been no update and no resolution. I think this is not a reasonable time frame to have your car parked away from structures and not to be driven.
Recall of the abs remedy not yet available I do not feel safe driving or parking.
Nothing has happened yet but: the anti-lock brake system is faulty. Hyundai says the brake system could explode into flame either parked or when driving. We were told to park the car at a distance from other cars. My apartment complex has a nearly full parking lot. Wherever I park someone can park next to me. Hyundai also says it is safe to drive. It is unnerving to have this issue, when I drive the car, which I need to do, I just hope for the best. It was my retirement car and I can't afford another. A fix for anti-lock brake fire hazard issue has not happened yet, and the recall was announced November 1, 2023.
Unknown - the safety of myself and my kids are being put at risk with the recent fire risk recall not being resolved by Hyundai immediately. I do not feel safe driving this car and I have notified/called my insurance company/my finance company, and the local Hyundai dealership for assistance and no help was provided to me. I need this resolved immediately.
I received notice about NHTSA recall number 23v-651 a few months ago. According to the Hyundai recall website (their recall # is 251), the recall started September 22, 2023 and the status is "incomplete. Remedy not yet available. " I think over 3 months is long enough for Hyundai to be able to find a suitable remedy for a fire risk. I would like to be able to have the recall completed and my car serviced for that issue ASAP. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Hyundai has had an "urgent recall" out now for 6 months with no remedy. I'd like to know how long the company has been given to provide a remedy. This is incredibly inconvenient, as my vehicle cannot be parked in or near any structure. Because of having to park it on the street, it has been vandalized (rear-view mirror smashed), but Hyundai refuses to reimburse me for that.
Hyundai put out a recall on Sep 22, 2023 and nothing has been done to fix the issue. Every day I get into my car to drive I am scared & terrified that the car will catch fire while I am in it and not only injure me, my child, or other passengers, but potentially other drivers on the road. I am also afraid to park anywhere due to the risk of the car catching fire. My car is my lifeline and I cannot afford to get another car. My workplace only has a parking garage, so I have no other place to park, so now everyday my car could potentially cause structural damages in the garage and other cars could be damaged. I don't want to be on the highway and not have time to get out of the car safely. If Hyundai knows there is a potential fire threat, every single car should be pulled off the road and replaced or fixed immediately. Not everyone will know what a fire smells like or if something malfunctions in the electrical system due to the fire/smoke, how will passengers be alerted to immediately pull over and leave the car. This recall sounds extremely urgent. Hyundai needs to be forced to fix all of the issues. Waiting 6 months already with these dangerous cars on the road is irresponsible and can potentially cause a lot of trauma to people, such as myself. Leaking brakes should be considered a high priority and I do not understand why it is not being looked at that way. Hyundai is putting so many lives in danger on the road and its inexcusable.
Sep 22,2023 manufacturer recall number251 NHTSA recall number23v651000 this recall was issued over 4 months ago and a remedy is still not available.
My engine is ticking. The auto shop told me that my motor is shot and the same thing happened to my sons car. We both have the same car same year. There has been a law suit for this issue.
The red dashboard light remains on all the time indicating a problem with the air bag. I'm not sure what is causing the light to remain on but it is concerning as I don't know whether airbag will deploy properly if needed. I recently visited the dealership for an appointment to install anti theft software due to recall. Two and a half hours later they presented me with an unsolicited appraisal of my vehicle with $1800 in recommended repairs to my car including $400 to replace a sun visor. During this unsolicited appraisal, the dealership neglected to list the red dashboard light that is constantly on. I believe that this is a common issue with Hyundai vehicles and should be fixed free as a recall because of safety concerns.
I took my car in to the dealership to have the anti-theft software update, I was told that the update would prevent my car from getting stolen using the usb method. Two weeks later, my car was stolen the police found it, and they had used the usb method to steal it so the software update did not work and the dealership isn’t taking accountability. This is an issue that needs to be looked into as they’re saying the software update will help, but it is not helping with all the car theft.
My transmission had to be fixed due to stopping unexpectedly due to gear changing automatically by itself, brakes keep leaking fluid then touching the ground with a tire popping sound underneath , and engine is messing up without warning of any problems with.
I purchased this vehicle from carvana and when diagnostics were done I was told the tire rods are bad and if I drove it itwould be like an accident waiting to happen. I have sat in the car. Never driven it yet. My boyfriend says not safe to drive. I am 68 years old and need a vehicle. Carvana sold this to me like this with other problems too and they are doing a runaround to get it fixed.
Check engine light on. Vehicle jerks while I am driving.
The car shuts down completely while driving — nothing works, cannot put in park, cannot turn back on, nothing. Took to dealership—no codes, cannot identify problem.
Car good.
Car was stolen. I believe the negligent design of the vehicle, and Hyundai's lack of communication/problem-solving, are at least partially at fault.
The airbags on the side of the driver's seat is very dangerous and can implode just by slamming the car door. I've also had an on-going issue with the break line ( lights ) the passenger side break light will not turn off, this issue is also very dangerous for myself and other drivers who do not know when I'm using the breaks due to this issue. I've brought the vehicle to Hyundai north houston to have the break light inspected, ( that was about a week ago ) however I was told that they could not give me a loaner vehicle and the next appointment to inspect this vehicle would be as early as Aug 31,2022 and as late as September 2022. I've had technicians jump the battery several times due to this light not turning off. Many of the techs says it's the breakline and possibly a fuse that need to be changed. I also brought the vehicle to the purchase location ( carmax/north houston ) for inspection and service, but they did not address this as a problem during that time. The vehicle also seems to overheat more than what is normal and profusely leak water. There is also a problem with the tire sensors. The vehicle was given to me at purchase with the tire sensor lights on. I've had the sensors checked out and was informed there is no issue, now the sensor light does not illuminate even if the tire pressure is low. This vehicle has many dangerous driving components and should be investigated immediately.
In July 2015 with 25k miles, the interior of the vehicle was leaking water from the sun visor as well as under the glove box. When I made a left turn I could hear water swishing from one side to the other, then saw water coming out from under the glove box area. Water also dripped from the drivers sun visor. I took it to the dealer in troy mi and they blamed me for having dirty drain holes in the sun roof as well as having a wind deflector on the sun roof which caused dirt to build up and clog the drain holes. The sun roof and wind deflector were factory installed as I bought the vehicle brand new in 2013. The dealer did not remove the headliner to see if any mold was visible. They used an air compressor to clean out the clogged drain holes and charged me for the service even though the vehicle was still under warranty (dealer said it was not covered under warranty). I am not aware of the issue happening again, or if it did happen it wasn't enough water for me to notice. I however have and do smell mold in my vehicle daily. Today, June 7, 2022, with 116k miles, after leaving my car parked outside overnight with heavy rain I again experienced water build up inside the car. I saw water coming out from under the glove box and heard it swishing around. I called the dealer in troy mi and was told they cannot service my vehicle, it is a 4 month wait for diagnosis. I called a second dealer in macomb mi and was told the vehicle could not be looked at until August and all expenses would be my responsibility. The service tech stated the car would need to be torn apart (dash, door, headliner, etc) to find where the water was coming from. A dealer in southfield mi would be able to service the vehicle two days from now, I'm suppose to drive two days with water swishing around? what electrical safety issues are at hand here? it seems as though Hyundai has a defect in the design or part(s) which is causing this issue. I am also concerned with mold growth from back in 2015.
I was stopped at a traffic light, when my car stalled out and shut off, completely random, no warning signs whatsoever. No warning lights, no weird unusual sounds from the vehicle, just all of a sudden it shuts off! so I had to hurry and put it into park, turn the key back to off, and try to turn it back on. It barely started, once it was started we had a green light plus it sounded like it was going to stall out on me again. But when I pressed down on the gas peddle, there wasn't any normal acceleration. The car was in 5th gear and wouldn't shift down to allow it to accelerate at all like it should. So I am trying to get out of the middle of the intersection, had the peddle to the floor, and it's barely moving. While I'm trying not to die, I also noticed that there was no rpms being shown on the dashboard. Like absolutely 0 rpms. This isn't the only time this has done this to me!! it seems like it's becoming more frequent, although still without warning indicating that it was going to act this way. And of course it's been at a busy intersection, basically playing chicken with my life. My husband hooked up a code reader to see if anything pops up and nothing indicates any sort of problem. It will be going to the shop for them to look at ASAP, but I haven't been able to successfully replicate the issue on command, it just does it whenever it wants to, conveniently when it's just myself and my 9 year old son in the car, no one else that may be mechanically inclined along. This has happened twice now, 1st time last week, and the latest time was today. It gets serviced regularly like it's supposed to, and it will be up for inspection in July 2022.
