Im the original owner of a 2013 Hyundai Elantra which I just took in to local Hyundai dealer for oil change and to also see about getting airbag malfunction warning light checked out. . . They told me there is no recall issued on this car. . . . . . How can that be with something as dangerous as that?.
Airbag warning light came on for no reason while I was driving and remains on. I called dealership and was told I would have to pay $169. 00 just to diagnose the problem. Reading the other complaints on this website it appears gt has the same airbags as other Elantras but is not on recall for this part? why not? isn't this a safety issue?.

The air bag warning light is on im not going to pay close to 300$ for a safety fix there are plenty of the same models with the same issue, a bad clockspring! never went over any bumps never any railroads just started it one day and it was on.
At approximately 93000 miles, the air bag warning light came on and will not go off. At the same time the steering wheel controls for the phone/radio also failed. Apparently it is a common failure with 2013 Elantras.
Air bag warning light staying on. Took the car to Hyundai dealership. Diagnosis code was high resistance. I am told this is a broken wire. Hyundai refused to pay the $360 repair. My extended warranty also refused to pay the repair. When the light is staying on, if in an accident none of the air bags will deploy. The car only has 67,000 miles. This is a safety problem and there are many complaints about this. I spoke with their customer care dept, they refused to pay for the repair. Their was an extended warranty on some models, but they say my car isnt on the list. I have contacted the bbbauto line, and the missouri state atty general. At no time is money more important than consumer safety. I only ask for them to rightfully repair my car. They advertise how safe their cars are and there are 6 air bags. Unfortunately they dont work. Please help and make other consumers aware of this problem thank you.

The contact suspects through research the issue may be the timing spring in the steering wheel. The dealer Hyundai of anderson 1925 pearman dairy rd, anderson, SC 29625 (864) 642-0900 mentioned the spring was a common issue but they would have to run a diagnostics test and charge a fee. The manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The failure mileage was 60,000. Tf.

The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000. Aw.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra 4dr GLS with 86,000 miles on it. Red airbag warning light will not turn off. Took it to local Hyundai dealer in lansing, mi. Told me it would cost $122 just to read the fault code with their equipment. They told me it was fault code b138200. They said it was the airbag front seat passenger back assembly. Part number 884003x631pbs. They told me it was not covered under warranty because I am over 60,000 miles. When I looked up the fault code it stated side airbag front passenger resistance too high. They want $1,321. 00 to fix it. Searching on line revealed many complaints on the Hyundai Elantra airbag system. I believe this should be a safety recall. Thanks.
While driving up over a mountain pass the airbag deployed warning lights were lit and the low tire pressure light lit. I stopped and checked the tires. The right rear tire had a hole in the sidewall.
