Air bag light is on constantly. Started as an intermittent problem, but now it is on constantly. I am not sure if the air bags will work and had conflicting answers from the local car dealership. I noticed there have been several complaints about air bag light.
My airbag light came on. I have had no accident. I called the dealer and they want $185 diagnostic fee. Shouldn't airbags and safety be covered by the dealer if no accident has occurred? I am driving without an airbag right now due to no fault of my own. The airbag light just appeared about a week ago.
2013 Hyundai Elantra. Consumer writes in regards to tire mobility kits safety recall. The consumer stated the dealer advised the recall expired. The airbag light was on.
Airbag light gos on and off.
Every time I turn the vehicle on my air bag light comes on. Some times stay on all the time and some times it goes off and on while I'm driving.
Srs air bag light stays on all the time. Same issue as described in so many other complaints. 70,000 miles on vehicle.
My air bag light turned on a few months ago. At first, it was when I was only turning my steering wheel or when I was in park. Now, it's always on. I have seen this issue so often and for it to be such a common issue and not recalled is very disappointing. This is a huge safety issue and can be fatal if I were to be in an accident because my air bag wouldn't deploy properly.
The airbag light came on and I got it diagnosed and it was the clock spring. The clock spring needed to be replaced and the tech said that the clock spring itself wasnt broken, just that it shorted out. This should be covered under the warranty since this is a safety issue. I googled this problem before I got it fixed and there was a consensus that Elantra have an issue with the clock spring. Hyundai did a partial recall of Elantra within 2011-2014 for this issue, but my vehicle wasn't included in this recall.
The driver side airbag indicator light period comes on and off while driving. Even though there has been no accidents.
Airbag light stays on constantly. Car has not been in an accident.
Steering wheel makes a clicking sound every time it is moved and shakes violently when trying to stop the vehicle. The air bag light will not go off.
My airbag light randomly turned on while driving on a city street and won't turn off.
The airbag lights wont turn off.
Airbag light remains on, bags have never deployed; known issue with Elantras - how is this not a recall?.
Air bag light wont go off. . . And seat belt fell out of the adjuster.
Certain steering wheel controls -- including the volume controls and bluetooth phone controls -- stopped working. A few months later, more steering wheel controls -- such as other audio and media controls -- stopped working. A year later, the ability to change the steering tension, from comfort to normal to sport, stopped working. Within the past year, the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel have stopped working, and the red airbag light is on continuously. Although Hyundai has issued a recall for certain 2011-2014 Elantra vehicles, and my vehicle meets that year range and model, the dealership will not cover replacing the airbag clock spring assembly because my VIN does not match their criteria. As such, the dealership has quoted $480 to fix my vehicle's airbag clock spring assembly. If my vehicle experiences the same airbag safety issues that covered vehicles have experienced and which prompted the recall, my vehicle also should be covered under the extended clock spring warranty.
The air bag light had been illuminating and staying on for a bit then going back off. Last week it came on and has stayed on. There has been no reason for it to be on.
The airbag light stays on. They have recalls and or manufacturers extended warranty for other Hyundai Elantra's, but not for 2013 Hyundai Elantra gt? this is a serious safety issue and I am placing a complaint because this should be covered and not an expense to owner of the car. It's extremely dangerous and could cause serious harm with such a default. All Hyundai's having this issue, should be covered under extended warranty, not just some.
The airbag light stays on all the time. The light is supposed to go out after 6 seconds of the car being started. Mine does not go out and remains lit. They have extended the warranty for 15 years for this issue due to the clock spring needing replaced.

Hyundai did a partial recall of Elantras within 2011-2014 for this issue, but my vehicle wasn't included in this recall. The light would generally stay on but would occasionally turn off on the highway, but then back on.
Airbag light stays on while car is running.
The airbag light comes on and off while driving or sitting still.
2 weeks after I purchased this car, the airbag light on the instrument panel came on. Dealer refused to do anything about it. Also noticed 2 weeks after I purchased, that the sunroof assembly leaks, and water pools around the spare tire. Worried about water damage caused to the spare tire, and the possibility of mold growing.
The airbag light came on my 2013 Hyundai Elantra gt at the 61,000 mile mark. Took it in to the dealership to find out the problem and it was determined the the clock spring was found defective from the manufacturer. They were willing to replace the clock spring but at a cost of $495 dollars. I asked why they were charging since this was a manufacturer and safety problem and they determined that my car was no longer covered since I had gone over the 60,000 mile mark. I called Hyundai USA to report my concern for this safety hazard and all they told me was that they could not cover it due to mileage. I am greatly concerned for the safety of my family and self knowing that the airbag is disabled if a car crash were to occur. This is the only means of transportation that I have and unfortunately cannot afford to pay for something that is a safety defect and hazard which I feel Hyundai should fix at no cost.
Air bag light was coming on and off while driving, since 8/17/2019. Now it is on all of the time. Vehicle has not been in any recent accidents, or received any damage. Research shows this is probably a clock spring in the steering wheel. $79 dealer fee just to identify the issue, before parts and labor to repair. Seems to be pretty common for Hyundai vehicles of this age and should be a recall!.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that the air bag indicator was illuminated for a long time without warning. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was not provided.
My steering column makes an awful noise like a clicking noise the whole time I'm driving it really scares me but I have to drive it bc it's my only means of transportation. Now my break lights all the way across doesn't work and it's not a fuse. Last thing is my airbag light stays on also which scares me . Please some one help get these issues resolved quickly I'm the second owner so I probably haven't gotten the recalls about these issues. Please please help me . Thank you.
The srs (air bag) indicator remained lit after starting the engine and the startup routine of checking all the systems. That has never stayed on until 6-3-2019, and now it won't go off. I've checked the fuse to the system, checked the seat belt latches, and the connectors. Light still remains lit when the engine is running.
The electrical volume and controls on the steering wheel went out. The airbag light came on and won't go off.
My airbag light came on then went off but now back on. I called the dealer (dennis Hyundai) today (4/24/19)to ask about the recall on the airbag I would on the new, iesha the lady I talked to said there is not a recall on my car? why not if the light is on the airbags will not destroy. What am I suppose to do?.
Takata recall I have recently had my airbag light come on on my car. I have waited a month or two and the light will not go off. I have done numerous amounts of research and found out that this is an extremely popular malfunction with Hyundai sonatas and Hyundai Elantras from the year of 2012. The problem happened right after I rolled over my 100,000 mile warranty so it was covered no longer. This is a safety concern to many people as this is a very popular car. I've had diagnostics done on my car and told it was the clock spring that has malfunctioned. Reviews also have the same malfunction.
My airbag light is on and will not go off. I was told it will cost almost $400 to get things fixed. I feel this should be a recall because it's affecting my safety to drive my vehicle.
Airbag light has come on randomly. Now it stays on.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated on and off. The contact called gosch Hyundai (100 carriage cir, hemet, CA 92545, (951) 658-3188) and was informed to schedule a service appointment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 38,800.
2013 Elantra gt, 5 years old at 109k miles. We bought it used 3 months ago. The airbag light came on a week ago. The problem is the clock spring in the steering wheel which is a very common issue on this type and year vehicle. There is a service bulletin about this which extends the clock spring warranty to 15k miles and unlimited mileage but the dealership says that our car is not covered under this extended warranty based on the VIN. The dealer told us to call Hyundai corporate at 800-633-5151 and ask for "good will" warranty coverage which I did and I have a case open # 11648781. The representative on the phone was evasive and not willing to do much. The same with the dealer. The extended warranty NHTSA id number is 10115229, the manufacturer service bulletin # is 5np-e9r9g-08 (attached here). The issue covers 2011-2014 Elantra and 2011-2013 sonata models. The clock spring part # is exactly the same between these models. I do not understand why some cars are covered and some not. If this is such a common problem to trigger extended warranty, all cars in the affected years must be covered. The clock spring should last he life of the vehicle, thus the 15 years extended warranty. Hyundai should do good by its customers and fix all affected vehicles. Extended warranty is much cheaper than a full blown recall. One last thing, this problem is also a safety issue since is disables the entire airbag system. The steering wheel controls are also affected, the cruise control button a mixed up, the cancel became set for example which could be quite dangerous. Other buttons don't work at all or all the time. This is my second Hyundai vehicle and it looks like it will be the last. Very frustrating.
