When I am using cruise control, my car will just randomly slam on its breaks. I have taken my car into the dealer multiple times, and they have written it off everytime. They have said it’s “direct sunlight” yet I can prove it’s not happening in the sunlight. It happened again today when it was cloudy. It’s also happened before the sun came up in the morning. I have even filed a case with Hyundai directly, and they said if they can’t get it to mimic it, then they can’t do anything about it. But it’s so random, sometimes it happens 50 miles from home, other times it’s 300 miles from home. Always willing to let anyone inspect my vehicle to help solve this issue. I’ve been taking it to my dealer for a full year until I found out I needed to come put it here. It’s random, it won’t happen in the same spot twice. But every time it’s done it, there is never a vehicle in front of me. My assumption is there is a defect with the adaptive cruise control. I’ve talked with Hyundai and they claim they’ve never heard of this happening to anyone, yet when I google it, there are multiple forums with people stating this exact thing is happening to them. Safety issue is it slams on the brakes so hard I’ll go from 80 to 65 before I can get the cruise control off. If someone is behind me when it does this, they will slam into me. When I’m dropping 15 mph quickly, that vehicle behind me will hit me like I’m a stopped object. No warning lights before it happens. This has been happening since I bought my vehicle at 0moled to now where I have 34k miles.

On 11/18/ 25 I was driving in highway traffic at 60mph and car suddenly slowed down to 30mph. My car would not accelerate no matter how hard I tried. With luck and prayer I moved over two lanes to shoulder. . . Shut off the car for about 10 sec. . . Restarted. . . And car ran normal again. I when deceleration occurred I saw a notice-symbol light up on the infotainment panel in a black space directly parallel to the total mileage odometer. On 11/21/25 I went to dealer, who checked car out and did not find any problem. I then went online and saw isla. . . Intelligent speed limit assistance. . . A choice I did not have on my infotainment system. If I had it, I wanted to turn mine off. We're scared it could happen again.

All of the electric warning lights turn on and the power steering goes out while I am driving.
While driving in the rain, car reported "check forward safety system". Error has not gone away multiple weeks later. Hyundai dealer's first reaction was "OH yes, this happens all the time" (!!) but then refused warranty repair because car is in other than pristine condition, despite being only two years old, still under warranty, with pristine front bumper. Without this sensor, adaptive cruise control, collision warning system, and automatic emergency braking do not work.
Cruise control on 55mph, car has slowed down going straight no uphill or downhill and accelerator did not work nothing blocking the accelerator. Had to pull over to a shoulder to shut engine off and on to drive. Tapping cruise control up to speed up in regulated area such as from 55 to a 65mph zone. . Cruise control speed lowered. Attempting to speed up with accelerator still only slowing down. 3 times this year I had to change spark plugs within a 6 month period error code p0302. Replaced battery alongside. Continues p0302 code. Replaced all coils and spark plugs still p0302. Climbing uphill vehicle sometimes looses power that happened twice in 2025 and twice in 2022. 3 times in 2024. That I must turn on hazards and floor the accelerator to gain speed on up hills in neighborhoods going 25 mph. I have dropped to 10 mph. I get oil change regularly. Always when due. Every few months I make sure to get a full car inspection to make sure everything is in proper working order.

2025 Hyundai Elantra limited automatic brake control on a recent road trip, the automatic brake system activated twice in a manner that could have put our lives at risk. The list below applies to both incidents: on a four lane interstate highway at approximately 70 mph. Wide, level median. Full daylight. Dry pavement. Unlimited visibility. Flat landscape. No objects in the median or anywhere abutting the lanes. No wind. No car for at least a mile ahead of us, none next to us. Brakes were suddenly applied by the “assist. ” brakes so violent we were pushed forward in our seatbelts. Second incident so violent and persistent I started to pull off to the side of the lane for fear of being struck from behind. In both incidents, the “assist” eventually quit. Had this happened with a semi behind us unable to slow down fast enough we could have been severely injured or killed. Apparently, the “assist” cannot be turned off for good. Since the above incidents, we did try to shut off the’”assist" but it was back in operation the next time we started the car. This situation needs to be addressed. The “assist” seemed to want to assist us into an early grave.
Every time I try to use the cruise button I get an error message.

My Hyundai Elantra hybrid has had the horn and front radar go out 3 times. It will eventually start working again. Heavy rain or snow will disable the front radar and then it won’t go away for a while. When the front radar is out, I cannot use cruise control. It is disabled. I feel adaptive cruise control is much safer and cruise control in general. Apparently many people have similar issues. The horn not working often is also a huge concern. I am concerned I cannot rely on my car.
Radar equipped to front of vehicle has malfunctioned, disabling all forward safety systems and adaptive cruise control. Without this equipment functioning, cruise control is completely disabled and the vehicle will not automatically brake or provide forward warnings. The vehicle component has not been inspected, but this is a recurring issue amongst other owners of this model. There is a warning lamp that turns out that states "check forward safety system".

My car has two warning lights on my dashboard. First one is check foward safety system. Second one is check Smart cruise control system. Both of them turned on when I was driving in the middle of a highway. These warning lights activated out of the blue, without any unusual circumstances. I cannot use my Smart cruise control system and the car is not able to alert me about forward collision. This issue has already been addressed through a recall for my vehicle's model and year in korea. My vehicle was produced in korea and was imported to the united states; however, Hyundai has not issued a recall regarding the same problem in the united states. This is a safety concern, and Hyundai should repair it free of charge, and the company should compensate customers who have already undergone repairs for the repair costs.
Pop up display "check forward safety system and check Smart cruise control system" during driving on the free way with no reason. 3 month ago same thing happened. Fixed that problem with re-calibration to the front sensor. But. Same problem happen today. This problem is recalled in south korea on last year.
Forward collision sensor suddenly failed to function properly. This issue was not caused by any damage or a collision; it happened while driving on the highway. Hyundai does not fix this under any warranty, even though the issue was not caused by damage. It appears to be a bad quality/faulty sensor.
Vehicle only has 14k miles and is showing an error message for "check forward safety system" and "check Smart cruise control system" after some research found this is a very common issue with multiple Elantra's where the front radar goes bad causing safety systems such as automatic braking/acceleration, and cruise control to not work. This is a big safety issue that has been reported by many drivers. The error happened going a steady 40mph with no other cars around on an open road. Nothing was hit the radar just suddenly failed.
When driving at 55mph with cruise control on, the car suddenly accelerated to 75mph, this happened on the open road and was able to keep under control. Auto has less than 10,000 miles. I will be contacting Hyundai customer service for a case number on this incident. First indication of a problem was cruise control, auto braking failed iin June of 2023. This follows a replacement of defective front radar unit by Hyundai which was replaced at 8295 miles on July 26, 2023. This problem first occurred in late June/early July of 2023. There was no warning.
While my son was driving on the highway, the Smart cruise control suddenly stopped working with "check forward safety system" and "check Smart cruise control system".
While driving down an interstate at approximately 58 miles per hour, I turned on the cruise control and went to adjust it to 65 miles per hour. The car rapidly accelerated and it appeared on the dash that the cruise control defaulted to 110 miles per hour, which appears to be the maximum on the system. I tried to turn the speed down, but the cruise control would not go below 110 miles per hour. I immediately deactivated cruise control and continued to drive at normal speed. I tried multiple times thereafter to set cruise control, and it would again, rapidly try to accelerate the car to 110 miles per hour and would not let me decrease the speed. After stopping at a rest stop, turning the car off and on and driving again, it appeared the glitch was fixed and I was able to operate the cruise control normally. Please note that the "adaptive" part of the cruise control, including steering assist/lane departure worked fine the entire time.

Drove about 1 hour using cruise control part of the time. Don't usually use it, but used it 2 months ago with no problem. After 1. 5 hour visit, drove home. Did not use cruise control, but at last 10 minutes acceleration issue started where car would "rev" even though I was not accelerating. Able to manage it with brake and normal driving. Tried to reset cruise (turn on/off), but car still had episodes of "revving". Did not accelerate to dangerous level and controllable. After car sat in garage for 2 hours, I drove out of neighborhood to empty stretch of road and accelerated to 50 with no problems and no revving of engine. Service check scheduled.

The airbag light is on and no fuses are out and cruise control and other buttons on steering wheel is not working. If airbags are faulty or do not deploy it is a huge safety concern. Someone could be killed or extremely hurt. It has not been confirmed by a dealer but willing to take it in to be checked. It has not been checked yet by a professional. My warning lamps have been on for about two weeks now.

On June 13 2023, I received an alert on my dashboard that my cruise control was unable to be used due to an issue with the front sensor. The alert went away soon after but then reappeared on August 27th, 2023 the error appeared again. Specifically error code c162078. I wasn't able to get the issue repaired until November 2023, which is also where they replaced my faulty backup camera.
I purchased a car on December 24th 2022 and from the day I left off the lot there were electrical signals showing that the car was malfunctioning. I told alex (the dealer) what was taking place and the dealership never called me or tried to assist with any problems. For months the signals were coming on and off and my last straw was when my windshield wipers stopped working in the middle of a rain storm after I had just made an in person complaint for the 3rd time about my electrical issues on the car while at the dealership on may 13th 2023. I had just been told there was nothing they could do and I called them upon leaving to tell them I could not see while driving because my wipers were not working. They told me to just go home. Travis nash (new car sales manager) hung up on me 5/17/2023 after telling me I am making assumptions when I was shown proof that the car had issues by the service department when they finally serviced my car about my complaints on 5/16/2023. He told me he was never made aware when I emailed the service manager all of my proof the day prior. I called 5 times before I could actually reach travis who would have been alex's supervisor. They even hung up on me prior to speaking to him. I am completely disgusted & I do not feel safe in this car. Travis did not want to give me anything in writing that he was saying over the phone. He would not even send me an email. I don't feel valued I feel used. At this point I don't even know or have faith in this company. I am so hurt and as I told him if I were to die because of the issues then maybe he would have took accountability instead of blaming service or anyone else. I even contacted Hyundai corporate and they said there is nothing they can do because the dealership is a family run private Hyundai dealership. I have proof of all records and I will be attaching it. Attached shows different milage dates, of incidents, official text and emails that were unanswered.
Just quit working after being adjusted still not fixed though has been to Hyundai. Say parts are back ordered for months.
This vehicle has what is now known as "phantom braking" since day of delivery over two years ago and was reported to NHTSA previously by me and Hyundai which has not or will not try to correct this safety hazard. Last incident this occurred on 3/11/2023 for at least the 6th time. This has happened with vehicles behind me which have come close to hitting me.
I was driving using cruise control when suddenly I got the error message “check forward safety system” and my cruise control no longer functions. Turned car off and back on and message is still there. As the emergency braking system stopped working, this is a safety issue. Have not taken it to dealer yet. The car has other software/electrical issues related to the reverse camera and apple carplay. There seems to be several software issues with this car.
Check forward safety system is on all the time, dealer refusing to fix it. Did have airbag recall repai done yesterday had computer update done on car.
The forward collision warning stopped working several months ago. We gave the (leased) car to the dealer for repairs after 4 weeks of waiting (parts, etc. ) we were told the car was fixed and ready for pick-up. I drove it from baltimore to DC for a meeting and on several occassions when car stopped abruptly in front of me on the highway it did not give a warning, when I tried using cruise control, it would not engage because the conditions for doing so had not been met - same message I had when foward collision was not working. It's pretty clear that this was not fixed and instead they must have changed the messaging so that it does not appear as a warning when you start the car. The feature is really important to us because it has prevented a potentially fatal accident on a winding road in NY state where we found a truck on our lane due to a downed tree on the other lane - the car braked well before I did- which is the point of these safety systems. The dealer is len stoler Hyundai in owings mills.
While driving down the highway, a warning light stating the forward collision warning system became inoperable, as well as the adaptive cruise control system. Vehicle has no collisions, yet the dealer can't get the system to calibrate again.
Steering wheel clunking noise, the car tries to change direction by itself especially on wet roads, and I always trying to keep it in the same lane, the problem has been reproduced 2 weeks ago, there’s no warning lamps actually either before, I had not inspected this problem.

When cruise control is activated, the engine rpm automatically increases by about 700 rpm. At 75 mph, the engine rpm is 2300. When control is activated, engine rpm increases to 3000 rpm and remains there. This decreases gas milesge and increases wear on engine.
The vehicle lit on the instrument panel the scc system and the aeb system the cruise control does not work.

For the brakes and lighting issue, my brake lights go bad every couple of months and need changed. I believe this is possibly to do with the recall for brakes. I have had people on many occasions stop me in traffic to let me know an entire side of lights were out at once. I have been pulled over more than once as well for my brake lights in the four years I've had my car. I always keep spare lights in my car for this reason. I called a&b kia, where I bought my car, who said my car was not part of the recall. However, with the many issues I've had with my brake lights I believe it is related. More recently than my brakes, my cruise control has stopped working. Within the past year it has slowly went from working sometimes to not working at all. Other functions on the steering wheel, such as volume and radio controls have not been affected.
