Ref: NHTSA campaign no 13v489000 Hyundai Genesis 2012, 4. 6l, v8, 4 door sedan, with approx 77000 miles. In the last 6 weeks we had the brake pedal go all the way to the floor 3 times with little or no braking occurring. Two weeks ago this car was taken into liberty (feldman) Hyundai in new hudson, mich for repair of this brake problem. After $95 for an inspection, which did not include any oil change, the report was that no problem was found. This car was serviced in March, 2014, per Hyundai recall no. 114 bh hecu, which called for inspection and replacing the brake fluid. This was done. There have been no brake problems since that time until about 6 weeks ago. This car was serviced in March, 2014, per Hyundai recall no. 114 bh hecu, which called for inspection and replacing the brake fluid. This was done. Some people, who have also had this problem, said that the brake fluid used was causing failure in the master brake cylinder valves. This is obviously a manufacturer's error, and Hyundai should be held responsible.

On 5/11/15 the brakes on my 2010 Hyundai Genesis failed and the car would not stop as the brake pedal sank to the floor. On 5/12/15 I brought my car into global auto mall and drove very slowly to the dealer, pumping the brakes at every stop along the way to get the car to stop. Global auto mall diagnosed the problem and replaced the master brake cylinder assembly under warranty. My car had 45,381 miles on it at the time. On 8/29/15 the brakes on my 2010 Hyundai Genesis failed again and the car would not stop as the brake pedal sank to the floor. On 8/31/15 I brought my car into global auto mall driving very slowly to the dealer, pumping the brakes at every stop along the way to get the car to stop. My car had 49,179 miles on it at the time. Global auto mall has stated that after running diagnostics on the car they did not find any problems and now the brakes are working fine. A recall on the braking fluid that caused corrosion on the abs module was performed on my car already, but there is no way for the technician to actually check for corrosion inside the abs assembly. I do not feel that the car is safe to drive and the brakes are going to fail again, as nothing was repaired on my vehicle.

I own a 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4 door sedan, 6 cylinder. On 3 occasions this past summer, in rapid succession, my brakes failed, and in 1 instance I narrowly avoided an accident on the highway. The brake pedal inexplicably goes all the way to the floor before the car finally comes to a slow stop. Very dangerous. Brought it to the dealer, who kept it for 2 days. They said they replaced the brake fluid(they said it was a recall item and they never contacted me about it, they admitted) and they charged me for replacing my front brakes. Have had the car a month now, and its happened twice more-this is an accident waiting to happen for me or anyone else with a Hyundai Genesis.
The contact owns a 2009 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, he attempted to engaged the brakes but the pedal extended to the floor and failed to stop the vehicle. In order to stop the vehicle the contact was forced to shift out of gear. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the front tire brake pads and master brake cylinder were replaced but failed to remedy the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.
I was traveling on the on ramp of interstate i20 @ 45 mph, applied the brakes and nothing happened except that the pedal went right to the floor, 7 miles later on the exit ramp at about 70 mph exactly the same thing happened again, took the car to the dealer that evening after work. They told me the master brake cylinder had failed and because my mileage was 2,930 over the 60k limit it would not be a warranty repair. I said "are you kidding me?, you must call hna this is a serious problem". They must have because they repaired it "one time good will for customer satisfaction". My confidence in this brand has gone away, this should be a recall.
On December 28th I was driving in my '09 v6 Genesis on the interstate for about 20 minutes and I took a downhill exit with a stop sign at the bottom of the hill. Thank the universe that the road was empty because as I applied the brakes to slow down they went to the floor and the car barely slowed down at all. As I got closer and closer to the stop sign I had to pump the brakes about 4 more times with them going all the way to the floor each time. The car finally slowed down to about 10 miles an hour. As nobody was at the sign at the bottom of the hill I was able to coast slowly through the stop sign and turn left to use the emergency brake to come to a complete stop. I then turned the car off and back on to try the brakes again. They went to the floor about 4 more times and then the pressure finally returned. This is some scary stuff since I was on the highway for about 20 minutes and I know for a fact that I would have crashed into someone had I been driving during rush hour traffic and there been a line to get off the interstate. I got the car home safely that afternoon and parked it to leave the country for vacation. I returned on the night of new years day and dropped the car off on the morning on January 2nd. The dealer said they would look into the problem. I got a call from them yesterday saying they cannot repeat the problem (of course) but also mentioned that they had to replace the master brake cylinder on a Genesis just last week for the exact same problem. Ironically enough I was speaking with my coworker about this (he has a Genesis) and he said his dad has a Genesis and just had the exact same problem 2 weeks ago, to which the dealer replaced some abs parts on his car. . Since purchased used from a Hyundai dealer in 2011 with just 11,123 miles & full warranty, this vehicle has had "intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, intermittent ability to remove the vehicle¿¿s shifter from the park position, illumination of the ¿esc (electronic stability control) indicator lamp in the instrument cluster, intermittent interference with operation of the cruise control feature, or intermittent operation of the stop lamps" as cited in campaign 110 released by Hyundai on March 29,2013. I have brought it to the dealers service department on 11 separate occasions, for the above listed issue -to two separate dealers- and while both utilized the Hyundai warranty to the fullest extent, to replace everything from my radio, to transmission modules, to wheel cylinders, none of these issues fixed the problem. When I spoke to Hyundai last week regarding recall campaign 110, I was assigned a case number, but I received a call the next day that my case was being rejected by the regional office. When I brought it to the dealer for the recall repair this weekend, they insisted that they would have to charge me for the visit, despite my complaint being the one listed in the recall. I feel that Hyundai should honor their recall and address this problem in my car at their expense until they rectify the issue cited in the recall, despite the faulty part having been replaced through my factory warranty multiple times, and prior my receiving notice of the recall. Hyundai motor corporation should do what is required to get the car they sold me to be in safe operating condition, and they refuse to do so.
