I don't know if it was electrical or engine related. The oil pressure light would come on while driving - all conditions - slow, fast, stop-and-go backroads as well as during steady highway driving. While highway driving at one point, the oil light came on and the check engine light also comes on and the functioning of the car is affected (power, steering etc. ) for a brief time, then it went back to normal. It felt like the car turned off while I was driving on the highway and then came back on.

The check engine light come on for no reason. The car locked me out while running and both key fabs wouldn't unlock it from the outside. The Smart trunk doesn't work. When you lock the doors, the driver's side won't lock.
Engine stalled while driving. I was making a left turn in a center turn lane and the engine stalled out. Coasted back to the center turn lane, put the car in park and it started back up. No check engine light or other warning lights.

I was driving northbound on I-295 in washington, DC when my check engine light illuminated and the car began to slow down in extremely heavy traffic and I lost the ability to accelerate. I attempted to accelerate in order to get my vehicle off the busy highway and to a safer location, but I was not able to go more than a few meters. It was fortunate that I was not seriously hurt or killed. This is clearly a serious safety issue and I am surprised that there has not been a recall to fix this problem, especially considering that it appears to be something that has been happening to many Hyundai vehicles for some time now. After more than one (1) hour, I was rescued by a towing company that left my car at the dealership. The dealership has discovered that I require at least a throttle body assembly to repair the issue and has ordered the parts which means that I am renting a car until the repairs are made (the part will take several days to be delivered). After the throttle body assembly is installed, the dealership will rescan to see if that eliminates some of the other codes that were discovered.
For the fifth time I am having an oxygen sensor replaced on my Genesis (the vehicle has 4). The symptom has been a "check engine light" that results in an intermittent, occasional problem when stopped and idling. The engine light starts to flash, the engine begins to idle very roughly, and there's barely enough power to creep through the intersection. This condition clears up pretty quickly but the light remains on. The flashing light/rough idle/loss of power recurs. The problem has occurred requiring an oxygen sensor change five times starting in mid-2016 at around 100,000 miles.

Vehicle had previously backfired periodically, especially when downshifting. Was starting from full stop, engine was sputtering, check engine light was on, tachometer was below 500 rpm. Vehicle was driveable, but acceleration was difficult due to sputtering engine. Drove directly to dealer - vehicle was diagnosed and repaired same day (04/15/2013). Service writer provided copy of factory technical service bulletin #12--FL-007 (July 2012), which states as follows. Traveling to indiana from north carolina on the 6th of may 2011. On a rural road traveling approximately 55 mph, all of a sudden the engine light and esc warning lights came on. After that when I pressed on the accelerator, there was no power. Electricity was still there and the engine was still on, but no power from the gas pedal. I had to turn the emergency lights on and moved onto the side. I was lucky because there weren't many cars around. It would have been pretty dangerous if there were cars around and my car suddenly stopped. I was able to turn the car off and restart. When I restarted the car the engine light remained on but I had regain the ability to accelerate. I pulled into a hotel and called Hyundai. The closest dealer was gaddis Hyundai of muncie, indiana. The service department was closing but I discussed with technician. He indicated that it was common problem with the throttle sensor. He indicated that he would be able to fix it Monday, but that if the light went off and it was running ok, it may never happen again. I told him that I need to be durham , nc on Monday. He indicated that if it happen again. To turn off and restart and it should reset. On my way back from indiana to north carolina I stayed in the right hand lane. On 4 separate occasions the vehicle lost power and I was unable to accelerate. Each time I was able to pull over to the side of the road, turn the vehicle off, wait a few minutes and then restart and continue. The car is currently at the stevenson Hyundai dealership in jacksonville, nc. Here is a forum web site that reflects similar problem identified on numerous occasions related to the Hyundai Genesis v6 and v8. . Read more...
