2024 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy. Clicking/knocking noise from left rear shock absorber area. Noise occurs when accelerating from a stop as the rear of the vehicle compresses under load, and can be reproduced by pushing the rear of the vehicle up and down. Consistent with known self-leveling rear shock absorber failure documented in TSB 22-22-001h, which has been reported across multiple Palisade model years. Dealer appointment scheduled for may 4, 2025. Issue is ongoing.

2024 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy. Single loud popping noise from right rear area occurring approximately 10–20 seconds after coming to a complete stop. Noise is consistent and repeatable during normal everyday driving. Suspected cause is brake caliper, rotor thermal expansion, sway bar end link, or rear suspension bushing releasing load after vehicle settles. Dealer appointment scheduled for may 4, 2025. Issue is ongoing.
While traveling to abilene TX to see my doctor my check engine light came on. I pulled into the Hyundai dealership and ask the service advisor to plug into my vehicle and let me know what was going on. After he talked to his service manager he advised me that they "where to busy" and the earliest they could get me in would be the next Monday. This was Wednesday. My home is 100 miles from abilene. I asked if he thought it would be alright and he said sure. I barely made it back to big spring before it started clinking and cluttering. It sound horrible. My son said it sounded like it through a rod. He checked the oil and said that I had low oil however my low oil light did not come on. I notified the dealership and was advised that I had to have it towed back to the shop in abilene which I did. After a week passed I was in abilene and stopped to check on my vehicle. Needless to say my repairs are in excess of 20k. New engine etc. And rear suspension is out also. After researching I have found I'm not the only owner with these problems. There are numerous complaints about these problems with the Palisade. This is a danger to all who own this vehicle. Fires, accidents and no telling what can affect us. All these vehicles need to be recalled because of the engine that was placed in these vehicles. The engine is eating oil fast. My oil changes were on time. Hyundai and the dealership are unwilling to offer any help in repairing my vehicle. The parts on the suspension are sub standard. I can't believe they are called the #1 SUV in America! buyers need to be aware of the substandard parts and engine. They also need to be aware the Hyundai doesn't stand behind their product or the dealership either for that matter. I shutter to think of who I could've been on the side of the road with a blown on fire engine. I'm thankful I made it home before the vehicle cratered.

2 open recalls on safety with no fix yet. Suspension has messed up, random electrical issues in dash and cruise control. My transmission also stalls at certain times. Dealership replaces struts, states they can’t get the vehicle electrical to act up although I have photos and videos and they can’t get the engine to stall. They can’t fix my seatbelts or the airbag and now a theirs row recall note was sent this week for it. This vechicle is not safe to drive/ride my children in and they can’t fix it.
Rear shocks failed. Were replaced under warranty. This is the second time this has occurred.

When driving at low speeds and going over bumps and speed bumps there is a thumping noise coming from the driver’s side rear. I’ve had the issue for quite some time now and there is a TSB on it for a faulty shock insulator. Between 2 different dealerships they have replaced it 3 times now and it’s doing it all over again. The last dealership has told me it is normal noise for the age and mileage of the vehicle.

The car started having a sound that sounded like a bowling ball rolling around in the back. I emptied trunk space and had tires checked but there was no issue. I called the dealership and they stated they knew what it was because it was a common problem in the Hyundai Palisade. I made an appointment to come in and have it fixed, along with a safety recall for rear seatbelts. The appointment was made in early January 2026 to bring the car in on 2/2/26. When I arrived they had no record of my appointment and told me I could bring it back another day. I refused because the car has a safety issue as well as sounding like the wheel is coming off. They asked me to leave it and told me it would be a few days because they would need to order parts. The next day I got a call saying the parts for the safety recall were backordered but the suspension repair would be done by 2/5/26. I called on 2/9/26 because I had not gotten any information and they stated the parts for both repairs were backordered. I asked how long and they said 2-4 weeks. It has been 7 weeks and I still have no car. When I call to check (they have never reached out to me for an update unless I call them) I am told parts are still backordered and there is no projected date. I have now made 2 car payments on a car I can't drive. I have no rental vehicle and was not offered one. The dealership seems unconcerned.
Rear shocks have gone out I am hearing metal on rubber noises dealer had explained issues is common and shock are on back order.
At low speed, and today for the first time completed stopped at a stop sign, we here and feel a very loud "thunk" through the steering wheel and coming from under the front end of the vehicle. It's very loud and jerks the steering wheel when it happens, and can be felt through the car seats as well. The whole vehicle seems to shake. This has happened so far approximately ten times, and we are losing confidence in the car's safety. The dealer told us that he had not heard of this problem, but we know that to be untrue, because a simple google search reveals that it is a known issue.
I was at work and went to move my car in our parking garage. I hit a bump and my front tires started to shake along with my steering wheel, and my brakes wouldn't work. I briefly lost total control over the brakes, steering wheel and tires causing me to almost hit a parked vehicle before everything self corrected. No alerts came on. I recently was hit on my rear passenger side and had repairs done to my vehicle. I had also experienced this shortly after I purchased the car and the dealership supposedly fixed the issue. I’m not shew if the wreck causes this issue to malfunction again or what, but this isn’t safe. I just reported the issue to the collision center that recently repaired my vehicle. Waiting on a response.
Defective rear self-leveling shocks/suspension. Unstable going over even small bumps. No replacement parts available. Took service technician on a ride along to confirm issue. Tech stated itis a know issue with a formal TSB published with 20-22 models but is also affecting newer models.

2023 Hyundai Palisade VIN [xxx] vehicle rear shock absorbers failed. Steering and drivability adversely impacted. Many many many complaints online document these defective parts and Hyundai's failure to resolve problems and supply properly functioning parts. Hyundai customer service is useless and claims no information on replacement part availability or time. Now that Hyundai has their newest problem of killing babies in their defective third row seats, I would have thought Hyundai would resolve outstanding issues. Nhtsa needs to intervene now. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
- loud rattle in back of car which was determined by brenham TX Hyundai dealer to be bad rear shocks on 12/4/2025. - inspection available upon request. - faulty shocks could fall off and cause a wreck or damage/wreck to anyone following. - brenham TX Hyundai performed the inspection. - no warning other than the loud rattle coming from back of car. We were told that the shocks were in inventory. Setup up repair appointment on 12/12/25. Waited 1 hour then we were told the shocks were on back order. No idea as to when they would be shipped or re chives by the dealer.
I am writing to report a recurring safety-related issue with my 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The rear shocks on my vehicle failed at approximately 29,000 miles and were replaced under warranty. Unfortunately, the same components have failed again at around 65,000 miles, resulting in a noticeably rough, unstable, and unsafe ride. The repeated failure of these suspension parts raises concerns about the durability and reliability of the vehicle’s rear shock system, as well as the potential risk it poses to occupants and other drivers. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed to determine whether a broader defect investigation is warranted.
Posterior shocks fractured at 24,000 miles. Car handles poorly and drives unsteady. Dealer has confirmed fracture and has promised new shocks 4 months ago. Have contacted Hyundai corporate and have been told weekly that they are working on a solution but have no idea when a solution will come. There was no warning when this occurred.
I purchased a new 2020 Hyundai Palisade sel. When I only had 47,683 miles I had my rear shocks replaced for the third time. Poor handling, and noise when the shocks fail. The shocks needing replaced was confirmed by the dealer service department. No warning lamps or messages were displayed.
Rear suspension has continued to have issues. First noticed after about 20,000 miles. A clunk and gurgling sound in rear. Took to local dealership and they didn’t do anything about it. Took again at 35,000 miles and was ignored again. 42,000 the dealership finally listened and replaced rear shock insulation, problem persisted but was a little more muted. 48,860 miles took it to another dealership and they replaced both rear shocks reporting them both as leaky rear shocks. Now at 70,000 all previous symptoms are back and louder than before.

I have a popping noise coming from the rear driver side suspension and it rides rough. I have been told by Hyundai that my rear shocks are leaking and from a different shop that my rear shock mount and absorber are causing the noise.
Early issues at 56,000 miles with rear shock suspension causing excessive bouncing. Read this is common and can happen multiple times.
I purchased this vehicle with 18,000 miles on the odometer. I am not a reckless driver, and primarily commute to and from work on paved roads. At 29366 miles, I had to have one of the rear shock absorbers replaced after it started making a strange noise. Again at 49596 miles, both rear shock absorbers had to be replaced. I recently took this car back to the shop with 86000 miles on the odometer and once again the shocks are having to be replaced. This is a known defect with Hyundai's self leveling rear shocks. The first two incidents were covered under warranty, but Hyundai is refusing the replace them this time because it is no longer under the manufacturer warranty.
I was driving slowly, about 5 mph, and was pulling over on a residential street to park on the street, and my Hyundai started shaking…the steering wheel and car were shaking and the brakes weren’t working. I nearly rear ended a car full of people. It did eventually a stop and the whole thing lasted maybe 10 seconds but it was terrifying. I had it towed to the dealership and they can’t seem to duplicate it.
I'm also a victim of Hyundai's defective rear suspension. Another complain fully encompasses my situation and feelings. I and others have been replacing rear shocks every 10,000 to 20,000 miles due to failure. The upper trim models will use a self-leveling shock in the rear suspension, part number(s) 55367-s8bdo right side and 55367-s8bbo left side. The lower model trim uses a larger coil spring and non-self-leveling shocks, with no issues. The failure happens within just a few thousand miles. Search web forums for Hyundai Palisades and NHTSA you will find hundreds of issues. The model years affected are 2020 through 2025. The 2026 has completely changes the rear suspension setup and eliminated the self-leveling shock. It appears imo the manufacture is counting on the warranty expiring and or the resale market to correct their problem. Hyundai refuses to recall the vehicles and correct the problem. They will change the shocks with the same faulty product biding their time. The third most common critical reason for a car accident cited in the NHTSA report was a combination of “steering/suspension/transmission/engine-related problems. ” this combination category accounted for just 3 percent of the traffic accidents cited in the report. Part of the reason why these mechanical failures are rarely cited as the critical reason for a car accident is that they’re harder to document and identify post-crash. Blown tires & worn brakes are easy to spot, but problems with the suspension caused by wear and tear are harder to sort out from the damage incurred in the crash. Steering and suspension problems can cause a loss of control over your vehicle at inopportune moments. Transmission and engine problems could keep you from being able to accelerate quickly if the need arises—leaving you stranded in an intersection with oncoming traffic and at risk of a car accident.

Routine vehicle maintenance is the best way to prevent steering and suspension issues that could contribute to a car crash. The problem still remains Hyundai will not change the manner of repair. Need a recall!! please!.
It's time you finally step up and have Hyundai issue a recall on the rear shocks that fail. The problem is on the upper trim models with self leveling shocks. The shocks fail and will need to be replaced every few thousand miles. The problem exist for years 2020 to 2025. The new models for 2026 Hyundai has completely reworked the rear suspension and no longer uses the self leveling shock. The dealership admits they stock a fair number of shock parts due to the constant failure. Unless you are in the pockets with Hyundai it's time for you NHTSA to make some noise and require a recall. . . The rear suspension can be corrected with larger coil springs and non-self leveling shocks. I have been through 3 sets of shocks in 25,250 miles. Do you see a problem, or should I call and talk with someone?.
The rear shocks wear out extremely quickly and require replacement every 10-20k miles. They make an awful clicking noise on acceleration, deceleration, and turning. The dealer has seen it, diagnosed the problem, and refused to cover even under their extended warranty that I purchased.
Component/system failed: the rear suspension strut assembly on the passenger side fully dislodged while driving at approximately 30 mph. The vehicle and damaged component are available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: the sudden failure caused the rear of the vehicle to drop and become unstable, creating a loss of control risk to myself and nearby drivers. Reproduction/confirmation: the issue has not been reproduced but was confirmed by the Hyundai dealership upon inspection. Inspection: the vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer’s service department and corporate case team. Warning signs: no warning lights, error messages, or abnormal noises were present prior to the failure. The dealership classified the failure as impact damage, claiming an external force caused the rear strut to detach, which excludes it from warranty coverage. However, my insurance inspection found no evidence of significant impact or collision, noting only minimal scuffing and no structural deformation. This indicates the issue was more consistent with a mechanical or structural defect rather than road damage.
Rear driver side shock is bad loud bumping noise while driving makes car very unsettling feels unsafe.
Leased vehicle in 2023 after a few months rear suspension was giving problems after a year of ignoring claims they saw the rear bushings were out. They changed it and after a few months again the problem came back more permanent. They admitted the part was faulty. Change the suspension and now it sounds like a space ship when breaking. Went in for 30k maintenance and now the ac vents sound like a plane. Two days later after a storm I see the roof is leaking and rear sunroof is also leaking. Since the near three year ownership it has been problem after problem not cause by me but by poor quality management at the dealer.
Rear shocks leaking and fail inspection. This was confirmed by both the dealer and independent service center. There were no warnings. This is the second time the same shocks have needed to be replaced. The first time they lasted 3 years, the second time two years. This is an endemic problem with these shocks affecting both the original and oem replacement parts.
Since the first week of driving my vehicle in August, I have reported to the dealership that it rides fairly bumpy over any road and fails to properly break if it is a bumpy road, causing me to almost have a collision. The dealership was unable to reproduce the same issue I was having and says that my car drives just fine. No messages have popped up.
Suspension failure - shock absorbers sever bouncing caused - unsafe for rear passengers replaced absorbers - problem reoccurred within 5k miles dealership inspection - part failure again no warnings, sudden popping sound with increased bouncing. This makes the car unsuitable to drive safely.
The rear struts are failed within a very short amount of mileage driven. Warrantied twice, but fail again after 20-30k miles. Safety concerned because boucy ride can result in lost of control when hitting bump in the corner. No warning lamps or messages appeared. However, clunking noise from the back.
Car has 45,000 miles and the rear shocks are blown and making a rattling popping noise.
I have a 2024 Palisade, and any small bump, pothole, or lane bump causes my steering wheel to shake uncontrollably. If I go over a speed bump or come down an incline, the brakes make a rumbling sound, and if I try to brake, the brakes stutter and just shake. I’ve almost hit a car in front of me a few times because it didn’t want to stop. This is a very expensive SUV to be having these issues, and it’s a major safety concern.
Braking on a low speeds when the road changes from smooth to slightly rough or bumpy the car acts as if abs is kicking on. The stuttering brakes can be felt on the brake pedal and the steering shakes vigorously.
