Check engine light was lighting up on and off sporadically and fuel gage was showing e with light on and now both are not working properly. The check engine light stays on and fuel gage always shows empty even when it is full.
When I bought this vehicle they were in cahoots with the nearby dealership, so no issues like this recall were found. I was never told about the recalls because they trying to charge me!!!! this has always had this problem and at one time had a fuel sensor problem. . . . . I was told it was no problem to make the appointment at one Hyundai dealership and they had the VIN & now . . . . . Now, that I had made an appt. With another dealership this is an issue and all of the factory recall issues were fixed, except for the hitch. It never was. I called the Hyundai recall customer service # number and of course, they say there are no issues. . . The recall # is 077.
I would like to have the vehicle removed and compensate the value to prevent loss of my human life or of another person.
Accelerator stuck while merging onto the freeway, vehicle was going 85 mph when I put it in neutral and used brakes to stop. The engine continued "racing" after stopping and stopped only after I shut off the ignition. Now also happens when accelerating on city streets. Extreme danger if someone driving has this happen and panics.
The gas gas does not work, they said it was the fuel level sensors. This is a great danger as I ran out of gas at a high speed with my 3 year old son in the car. This needs to be addressed immediately. After this happened I have read a ton of other comments reporting the same thing, Hyundai should be ashamed they haven't corrected this issue!.
I had just gotten on the interstate and the car started and continued accelerating on its own. I had the wipers going; cruise was not turned on or set, there was nothing obstructing brake or accelerator petals. I turned the lights to auto then down to running lights then to the on position. Just at that moment when I put the lights in the on position is when it took over the accelerator. I tried stepping on the break and it did nothing as the vehicle continued to accelerate. I made it to the off ramp to get off the interstate immediately. I tried turning cruise on then off and down shifting. Then I put it into neutral and it stopped accelerating but I still could not brake. I started to push on the emergency brake and we started to slow down until we coasted into a gas station and shut the car off. I called roadside assistance and was towed to a garage. I called Hyundai service and they told me if nothing is found or it can't be fixed that I should contact consumer affairs. I did some research and found over 50 complaints for this same thing. Apparently this has to do with the fact that the throttle control is driven by the computer/electric. Because of this something like a power surge happens that causes the acceleration and the brakes to not work. If this would have happened to me with more traffic, I would have crashed. It appears to be fine now but I understand it is intermittent and can't be duplicated; therefore, Hyundai will not do anything about it. The fact of the matter is they don't know what to do. But it doesn't change the fact that this causes accidents and is a safety issue. I am now scared to drive my own vehicle. Complaints/investigations/recalls were found NHTSA. Gov, forum. Edmonds. Com understanding issue found suddenacceleration. Com.
Fuel level sensor stopped working so can no longer tell how much gas is in the car. It caused the check engine light to come on. I am manually having to track how many miles I have traveled since last fill up. This is completely frustrating if not unsafe based on the fact that I see that numerous Hyundai Santa Fe owners have reported this same issue. Please consider asking for a recall on this.
I bought tgis car in Dec. 2017 from a used car dealership. . Shoetly after the engine light came days later brought the car back and the salesman/owner said its the gas cap. . Came on 3 more times. . They kept saying its the gas cap. . Well I tiggten that cap till it cant turn. Another thing the back end of the car makes bumoing noises especially going over a bump!! it feels like back ends going to fall off. . Last week my w year old granddaughter was sitting in her carseat behind the driverside,I was in passenger seat and I heard a thump. I looked my granddaughter looked scared. . Uhoh she says. She didnt drop anything. . The passenger front seat the back of it fell off!! wth!!!.
Approximately 2015 the fuel level sensors began malfunctioning and then failed completely within a few weeks causing the vehicle to constantly show an empty fuel light even when full. In 2017 at some the passenger side rear brake caliper bracket pins seized with no noticeable driving difference until drivers side rear rotor began to fail. I do not know how long I have been driving with only 1 rear brake. Hyundai doesn't sell the parts that need to be replaced. The whole caliper must be purchased not just the defective parts.
Fuel gage reports inaccurate readings causes check ingine light to come on.
Fuel indicator gauge is broken. Does not properly indicate fuel level. Check engine light is always on due to this malfunction. Very common problem according to online search. Too expensive to fix when it should be covered under Hyundai recall when it is such a common problem. I will not know if there are other engine issue with the check engine light always on. Dangerous.
The fuel level sensor has gone bad. From my research, this is a known problem with the 2007 Santa Fe. It has become necessary to use my trip meter to gauge how much fuel I have.
My fuel level sensor went out at 70,000 miles and left me stranded along a busy expressway with a 1 year old. This is very dangerous and I have seen several complaints regarding this issue. This item should definitely be recalled, please notify Hyundai. Thank you.
My Santa Fe esc light came on and the car went into a "limp mode". It slowed down to 10 mph and wouldn't let me accelerate. I pulled over and I could feel the engine sputtering. I turned off the engine and waited a minute, turned the engine back on and everything was fine. Happened the next day as well , now when I drive whether its a cold start or after 30 minutes of driving the vehicle goes into limp mode. I took it to te dealer and $350 dollars later ihad the problem fixed, turned out to be a throttle position sensor. I have done research on this problem and I am not the only one this has happened to. This is a serious issue that I feel needs to be addressed by Hyundai immediately before someone gets injured or killed. The first time this happened to me I was driving on the interstate early in the morning and I was travelling on the inside lane and I was able to pull off the highway or my wife and I could have been seriously hurt or killed.
Gas gauge is going up and down sometimes it's correct but most of the time it's not reading right . I have read alot of complaints about this same problem. Also the engine light is on I'm 63 and my grandchildren ride in my car, there should be a recall before something major happens.
I never know how much fuel I have , the gage goes from empty to full and back to empty in 5 minutes. Back a forth everyday.
I received a service campaign notification re my 2007 Hyundai sante fe auto to inspect (& possibly replace) the alternator & replace the front valve cover gasket. I made an appointment with the van nuys CA service department. After persisting to get an answer as to how long the service would take, I was told I could expect 2 days. I need transportation to & from Hyundai. I was told their shuttle would only take me 6 miles. My home is 8. 2 miles away. I was told I could rent a vehicle for $30+ per day. It it appropriate that such a notification should cost me upwards of $60????? what agency oversees automobile safety or to whom should I complain about this?.
My 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe suddenly accelerated when I attempted to apply the brakes to slow down so I could get into a left hand turning lane. As soon as I touched the brakes, the car revved up and accelerated to a very high speed on its own. I¿m not sure how fast I was going, but fast enough to throw me back against the car seat as I ran through a red light unable to stop. I tried the brakes again but they didn't work. . Shifting the car into neutral or any other gear did nothing to slow or stop the car either. I finally reached down and turned the key off, at which time I lost my power steering. I steered into an open field, hit a fence, and continued quite a ways the car was stopped by an incline to a ravine.
When I filled up my car the gas gauge said it was empty and the light came on. I took it to get repaired and the sensor was bad. There are sensors on both sides of the vehicle. After paying $700 it still doesn't work. I travel on the highway everyday and need to know how much fuel is in my car - this is a safety issue for me. There are several complaints about this same issue but no recall - why??.
After starting my vehicle and proceeded to work my Santa Fe esc light came on and the car went into a "limp mode". It slowed down to 10 mph and wouldn't let me accelerate. I pulled over and I could feel the engine sputtering. I turned off the engine and waited a minute. Turned the engine back on and proceeded to work without incident. Now no matter when I drive whether its a cold start or after 30 minutes of driving the vehicle goes into limp mode. While driving at a slow speed on back roads is not a serious issue I feel that when I am on the highway traveling at 65mph and it happens is a major safety issue. This has happened on numerous occasions and I no longer feel safe in my vehicle. I have done some research on this problem and I am not the only one. This is a serious issues that I feel needs to be addressed by Hyundai immediately before someone gets injured or killed.
Gas gauge reads empty to 1/4 full after filling. Driving home from work, lost all power to vehicle and all the warning lights on the instrument panel went on. Had vehicle towed then read other complaints. When I restarted vehicle next day the vehicle seemed to run fine. The fuel light and check engine light are still on but that is a different issue.
Hyundai Hyundai for about a year and the feul gauge has been screwing up 3 months after purchasing the car used. This seems to be a common problem I've noticed several other people complained about it I don't understand how many factors can just not repair such an issue especially its cost between 500 to 700 dollars to repair.
Fuel sensors quit working. Had them replaced with genuine Hyundai parts. Fuel sensor still not working.
I bought my Santa Fe in 2008, with 12,000 miles on it. I've had to replace a gas pedal switch, gear shift switch, gas gauge switch, driver's seat switch, two batteries replaced, the driver's visor hung down, both hydraulics lifts gate replace, backseat left side door lock replace and still doesn't work right and of course the esc light problems. All the problems started in January 2015.
Started my car and the check engine light and the fuel gage light was lit on dashboard. Shut off car. Waited few seconds, started car again. The gas gage needle went down to zero then jumped to full, which was correct since I had gassed up day before. The fuel gage light went off, but the check engine light stayed on for remainder of that day. As of last night, 1/31/14, no warning lights are on. My local mechanic said he thought there was a recall on this, but I see there isn't even though I am reading several other people having same complaint over the past few years.
Smell of fuel in passenger cabin when you fill up. Fuel guage does not show the correct fuel level along with check engine light is on.
While in a parking lot, I stopped at a stop sign by putting my right foot on the brake. As my foot was on the break, the engine revved up and the car began moving forward. Without removing my right foot from the brake pedal, I put my other foot on the pedal and shifted to neutral (the vehicle has an automatic). The revving up immediately stopped and everything appeared normal once again. I drove back to my home, about seven miles, without further incident. I have not informed the local Hyundai dealer yet who last did a 90,000 maintenance on it 8/27/2014. The vehicle had 88,496 miles on it.
The sun visor is defective and falls down when driving causing a safety hazard. The fuel sensor is defective as well.
The vehicle suddenly loses all power and pressing the accelerator doesn't rev the engine. The "esc off " & "check engine" light comes. This has happened while driving on the freeway. After stopping and switching off engine and restarting it is ok. The air bag "red light" is on.
As I was driving the clutch pedal suddenly dropped to the floor from underneath my foot. Then the car started to accelerate, even though my foot was on the brake and over the clutch. I was luckily able to get it back under control without hitting anyone, and get it pulled over, but it wasn't easy. Having a friend and 2 babies in the car with me, it was fairly terrifying. We got it pulled over and stopped, and finally got the clutch moving up to put the car in neutral and turn it on and off again, but we never did get it back into gear so we had a tow truck come clear it from the road. Never would have expected anything like that, let alone on a car with only 68000 miles.
While driving on hi way 85 the vehicle went into limp mode because of a faulty throttle position sensor. The vehicle quickly decelerated and caused a large truck to have to brake and nearly jack knife. The fix when this happens is to turn off the vehicle for several minutes and restart the engine. There are many blogs on this issue where this has happened to other owners of this vehicle. Normally this is a $50 part 3. 3l engine, however with a 2. 7 liter engine Hyundai is only selling the entire throttle body which is a $500 part. This failure on freeways and major roads can an most likely will cause serious injury and death if it has not already.
Dangerous.
2 complaints: 1. My fuel injector needed to be replaced twice within a year. I deal with a local autobody and they stated this has been a problem for years. The issue causes your gas gauge to be incorrect and the car eventually stops running. Expensive to fix. 2. The driver side sun visor broke off and hung by wires while I was driving. This, again, seems to be a consistent problem with the 2007 Santa Fe. Why no recalls for any of these things?? plenty of forums discussing the same problems for so many consumers.
Unable to tell how much gas is in the car. The fuel sensor is broken. I've seen many posts online about this issue with this vehicle.
I went to the dealer to have recall issues corrected and another customer brought his same year vehicle with the same issues in for his recalls. I heard him tell the service guy the exact same issues I was having. They pulled my car around and when I got in the car the esc light was still on so I went back in to ask about it and he pulls it up my info and tells me the production date did not qualify and that it's the brake switch. He then shows me the production date for the other customer and uses it as an example as to how it's based on when the car was built. He explains why it happens and the danger in it so I stop him and ask him if it's just a coincidence that there's a recall for this issue. Any way you look at it the other customer had the same make and model and year as mine with the same brake switch recall problem yet it didn't affect my car and he looked at me and said the dealership wouldn't get paid for the work cause it wouldn't be reimbursed by Hyundai and if I call Hyundai and was real nice that they may allow it. I called and very nicely explained that my car was having the issues directly related to the brake switch and that a Hyundai dealership had inspected it and printed me copies stating that it was the issue for the recall and said there was nothing they could do. Obviously they are not taking responsibility to account for every single vehicle affected by there mistakes and further more after explaining to me the danger with it they don't care enough about my safety and have no problem sending me back on the street with the faulty vehicle the sold me. If there's anything you can do to look into it and help out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
