The contact stated that while driving, braking, turning, or stopping, the steering wheel shook abnormally. The vehicle was taken to pinehurst Toyota (10760 us 15 501 hwy, southern pines, nc 28387, (833)267-2310) an authorized service dealer for Hyundai, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the steering coupler failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,000.

2 Steering Failed problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving approximately 45 mph, the power steering malfunctioned without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering column coupler was fractured. The contact stated that the vehicle was currently at the independent mechanic for replacement of the coupler. The dealer (holler Hyundai, 1150 orlando Ave, winter park, FL 32789, (407) 645-6203) was contacted and stated that there was no recall for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall for the steering wheel failure. A case was opened and the contact was referred to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.

3 Steering Failed problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that the steering failed and caused the vehicle to swerve from left to right. The steering had to be set to the sport setting for highway driving and to the comfort setting for city driving in order for the contact to be able to control the steering. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who upgraded the steering computer system however, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer advised that nothing was wrong with the steering. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 2,000 and the current mileage was 4,000. Mah.
