2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2021

I pulled out in my vehicle from a cross-street onto a busy main highway and after about 15 or 20 yards, the car engine suddenly shut down without any previous warning or signs. I towed to Hyundai dealer service department and described what happened. Only knowing the model and year, they indicated that it was likely caused by the same issue as dozens of vehicles they had on the lot or already fixed. This is a severe safety issue known by Hyundai, the government (via existing class action lawsuit settlement), yet the owners of these vehicles have not been notified or provided a safety recall. I was at great risk stalled in the middle of a busy highway until a sheriff deputy passing by assisted.

3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2019

On July 5, 2019, the car suddenly stalled while in motion in city driving. I immediately attempted to re-start the car: it did not restart, no cranking of the starter. I then pushed the hazard light button: no response. There was no electric power, I. E. , no lights, no radio, no a/c, no steering, etc. After 2 minutes, I re-attempted to restart the car, but it did not start, no cranking. The hazard light button then worked. Electricity came back on. Aaa came and jumped the battery, but car no start. Car went to Hyundai dealership. Service manager, the engine seized because of major breakdown. "we could not turn the engine manually. " he stated: "we have seen this before in other Hyundai, but your vehicle was not in recall. " please urgently investigate. This is a dangerous situation. If I was driving on the highway, or high speed city driving, the seized car could have flipped, endangering myself, passengers and other nearby vehicles and people.

4 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2019

Vehicle engine seized in the middle of the road with no warning or indication that it was about to happen. My 3 and 4 year old were with me as we were stuck in the middle of the road, thankfully no oncoming traffic at the time due to the light being red. This is the second time I have had a known issue that was recalled by Hyundai but did not include my VIN number. I also had trouble with my steering wheel and called about it and it was not covered because my VIN was not included in the recall. Hyundai you need to seriously take a closer look at your process for handling these issues when there are obviously many vehicles outside of your recalls that are experiencing the exact same issue. People's lives are at stake. I was literally in the process of making a turn and could not complete the turn which left me dead smack in the middle of the road. Had this been during heavier traffic times, I could have possibly been hit by oncoming traffic because of my car stalling in the middle of the road.

5 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2019

I was driving to work on a city street m24 in oxford michigan two weeks ago and without one single warning light ever coming on the vehicle the car completely stalled and all lights came on and the engine has not ran since. Being told this will not be covered but the dealership where my vehicle is has 10 of the same known issue waiting for new engines.

6 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2019

I was driving down the road about a week after the dealer supposedly fixed two recalls with the engine on my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe sport base. Suddenly, and without any audible warning, my ecm light came on and my vehicle starting lunging and lurching forward like it was about to stall. I pulled over and read the manual, and it noted that it was the ecm sensor and that I should immediately drive the vehicle to the dealership, so I did. Driving there, I was only able to maintain a speed of 60 mph on the interstate, which put me and my 8 -year-old daughter in danger from faster-driving cars, especially since it was a torrential downpour. Any time I stopped or slowed down, the engine would shutter like it was about to stall and then would get better just past 10-20 mph until I approached 60 again, where it would not accelerate again. When I got to the dealership, they immediately knew the problem and ordered a knock sensor harness. However, in reading the variety of lawsuits, issues, and service campaigns, it appears as though Hyundai is knowingly allowing people to continue driving cars they know are defective, thus putting us and our children's lives in jeopardy. These vehicles need to be recalled and have all of the engines and related parts replaced, or they need to buy the vehicles back at original msrp so we can purchase a functional, safer vehicle.

7 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2018

Driving down the expressway and car just kept getting slower and slower and I pulled off the expressway and it came to a stop and stalled out. None of the oil or heat lights came on while driving or when it stopped. Hyundai said the engine seized up.

The contact explained to the dealer that the replacement part for the recall failed; therefore, she should not be responsible for replacing the engine. 9 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2017

Vehicle stalls while sitting idling waiting at stop lights problem is intermittent and unpredictable. Engine shutters while idling as well. Vehicle loses ability to accelerate when this occurs requiring the driver to put the vehicle in park, turn the engine off, then restart the vehicle. Safety hazard in busy traffic. Additional issues with slippage sounds from the axels when turning corners. Problem may be linked to other open recalls involving manufacturer reported machine errors during the manufacturing process that causes premature bearing wear within the engine. The noted safety risk on other VIN numbered models within the same class is that it may cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. This vehichle was just purchased from carmax virginia three days ago. Issue was not obvious at the time of purchase. There were no open recalls for this VIN number at the time sale was made, but issue is quite present at 50,000 miles and I have contacted carmax to inform them of the issue. This particular problem seems consistent with all models of Hyundai manufactured around 2014. A national recall of the entire line should be considered to alert consumers and avoid unwanted purchases and or damaging accidents.

15 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2016

Previously reported to dealer that car often stalled or hesitated when accelerating after a stop or very slow forward motion. This has ended up in numerous hesitations and near accidents when entering into traffic. On Friday, 1/29/16 while exiting from the 9th tier of a parking garage the hesitation happened on all 9 tiers as I rounded the corner to the next tier and began to accelerate. I have an appointment again with the dealer on 2/19/16 and will report further after that but suspect I will get the same message that they "could find nothing wrong".
