Failure Date: 06/12/2023

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? engine failed how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? car cut off on busy highway with my kids in the car and we were almost hit several times trying to make it to the right lane to pull over!!! has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? the dealership stated the engine has seized and needs to be replaced. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no! were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no lights appeared until the engine seized…I still had plenty days and miles to go before oil changed!!!! car broke down out of no where & this is my 3rd time posting on here about this issue. I tried opening an investigation and no one responds. An investigation needs to be open for thr Hyundai Santa Fe 3. 3l engines!!!!.

2 Engine Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2020

I was not notified of my car's entire engine recall, by mail, email, phone. . Nothing. I was on the busiest freeway (driving the speed limit. . . 75mph) in the state, and my car's engine failed!! I was scared to death. I could have been killed. It was the most horrible auto experience in my life. I am now scared to drive and can't drive on freeways. The whole ordeal, towing, eventual motor replacement , having to drive back up to exchange rental cars, loaner vehicles, etc. , has caused me some ptsd. I was told by the dealer in the town close to where the car motor failed, Hyundai did not send out any recall notices. They did not want to be inundated with owners. Yes, the Hyundai dealership many miles from my home eventually replaced the motor. However, Hyundai did not make it easy for me . Ie. , at first, no loaner car available (I had to get a rental car. ) I have yet to be reimbursed for my towing and rental car expenses. When I flashback to this, I get upset. I can't afford to sell my car, but do not want to keep it either. Look into this. As I said, I could have been killed or seriously injured. Save others from dying or injury please.

4 Engine Failure problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2019

Stopped at red light. Everything shut off, engine would not start or engage. No warning lights took it to the dealer, where they said it was major engine failure and they had to contact Hyundai engineering. They could not tell what went wrong. Hyundai want to split the cost of repair because the car was not under warrenty. It now February, Hyundai has not admitted that they have an engine problem. They have try to replace the engine twice ,only to have them fail. They now going to try a differnt engine type. It now time to replace car. I have an case # 16797233 with Hyundai customer service, which has not been very helpful.

5 Engine Failure problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2019

While driving engine failed, unable to accelerate and lights on dash board lighting up. Car stopped and put in park, turned off. Tried to restart and car would not start.

6 Engine Failure problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2017

My vehicle was involved in the engine recall which caused the vehicle to completely shut down due to engine failure. After having the engine replaced by a Hyundai dealership, the vehicle continues to intermittently loose power without notice. Although, the tachometer reads 7000 rpm, the speed is 20 mph with the pedal to the floor boards. This happens without notice and has happened on interstate highways with cars speeding buy! we have to pull over and shut it off and then restart. Then it will be fine til next the next time. The local Hyundai dealership has not been able to correct the problem although they have replaced several things. It is an ongoing problem.

The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe sport. The contact stated that the manufacturer provided a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 17v226000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact stated that the manufacturer failed to provide a remedy and parts within a reasonable time frame. The contact experienced catastrophic engine failure and the vehicle stalled intermittently. The vehicle was taken to two different dealers (1. Shockley Honda, 7400 shockley dr, frederick, MD 21704, (301) 694-5400 and 2. Heritage Honda parkville, (410) 882-3000), but the failure could not be replicated or diagnosed.
