2 Brake Light problem of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 05/23/2020

Early 2020, I had multiple reports that my driver side brake light was not functioning properly/off when I brake. I replaced the brake light bulb in summer 2020. Not long thereafter, I heard the same complaint from other drivers who noticed and were able to notify me while at a stop. I had it checked at a local oil change shop and they found nothing wrong. This year, I was told at separate times that it was not turning on. A couple of days ago, I had someone I knew report that the night brake lights function but when I brake, the driver side light is off. It could be an internal wiring issue or something else I can't reach. Either way, it is a brand new car I bought and should not experience issues this early. The earliest they can get my car into the dealership service department is November 16, 2021.

5 Brake Light problem of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 01/06/2017

Two issues: severe problem - when driving at a rate of approximately 35mph today on a major city thoroughfare, our 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe 2. 0t ultimate suffered a sudden and complete loss of power (engine and all electrical systems including lighting). After coming to a stop, the vehicle was stranded in place until it was able to start up again many minutes later. Fortunately no one was physically harmed as the individual driving behind our vehicle was observant enough to identify the issue (despite a lack of brake lights or hazards) and stop in time. No visible engine light or fault code was triggered. Less severe problem: on a regular basis, the vehicle suffers abrupt and sustained loss of power in merging situations (especially when turning on city streets from a stop). This seems to be from an overactive or otherwise ineffective traction control system/programming. Despite even planning for the possible loss of power, this has still resulted in a number of "near miss" situations. A warranty visit has been scheduled for these issue and we will gladly provide the results and/or other updates upon request. We are, however, seriously considering selling the vehicle at a loss due to these two issues.

6 Brake Light problem of the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/27/2015

Bought the car used, 2007 Santa Fe with 71k miles on it. 2 months after I got the vehicle, the esc off light started intermittently coming on. Then one day it stayed on and that same day the check engine light came on. I noticed the next day that my brake lights would not come on when pressing the brake and that my cruise control would not engage at all. The esc off light will not be on when I first get in the car, but the minute I hit the brakes, it comes on and stays on. Ever since the first day the check engine light came on, it has stayed on since. I believe this may be part of an earlier recall, but my specific vehicle did not fall under that recall.

17 Brake Light problem of the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

My esc light comes on and goes off intermittently while driving, this has been happening for probably the past year. I have never noticed any effect on the performance of the vehicle and since I didn't know what esc was I did not pay it a great deal of attention to it. My passenger air bag light also does this "coming on and going off thing" so I assumed it was a weird dash light glitch. About 4 months ago vehicle started having electrical problems (power door locks sometimes stop working). Finally today I noticed my rear brake lights were not coming on. . . Obviously I was very concerned and called Hyundai to find out if there were any recalls. Hyundai gave me a case # but said my vehicle is not covered under current recall, so I am not sure if anything is wrong?.
