1 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 08/29/2025

There is a problem with the car's headlights. They are having to be replaced every couple months. I have taken it to the dealership and they told me it would be several hundreds of dollars to diagnose, but cannot tell me anything upon inspection other than needs replacement. We are having to purchase new bulbs every 2-3 months. One side goes out, then the other. We are being careful when replacing them, not to handle them with our fingers and using the bulb lubricant as advised per the parts store. I have receipts for multiple headlamp purchases.

3 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 02/17/2025

The low beams on the 2014 and many other year Hyundai sant fe models do not work properly. While you are driving at night the low beams do not light up enough or shine bright enough on the roadway so you can see and drive safely . . . I even installed brand new bulbs , and nothing changed as far as the brightness . The headlight housings are clear and do not have any type of damage that would prevent the bulbs from providing plenty of light on the roads . This is very dangerous for anyone trying to drive these vehicles on any kind of roads at night time .

4 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 01/31/2025

Between [xxx] am on [xxx]. I powered on my vehicle and the rear trunk door simultaneously opened. As I was driving my son to school that morning, I noticed water dripping onto my foot. I continued to drive but was distracted by beeping and warning messages but because the dashboard display was constantly switching from daytime to night lighting I could not readily see the dashboard. I tried to manually adjust the light by turning the knob off "auto" and also turning lights to "off" but it would immediately switch back. I made it to the first stop light and while stopped I was able to observe water droplets on the front panel of the interior fuse box. I pulled open the panel and water dropped out onto to floor. I replaced the panel. I continued to drive but was panicked and worried that water was in the fuse panel area. I arrived at my son's school and left the car running as he was dropped off. On the drive home, the beeping continued. This time, I saw the warning message about vehicle in my blind spot but I was on the street corner about to make a right turn and there was no vehicle next to me! the lights also kept switching as before. There was rust observed in the fuse panel area. When I got home, I called the dealership to inform them what happened. They refused to give me a loaner. I told them that water intrusion should not have occurred (we had severe weather and heavy rains the day prior) and now my car was having electrical issues and I was concerned for my safety and the safety of driving my 3 young children in car seats should there be an electrical fire. I mentioned the recall on my vehicle for water accumulation in the tow hitch and risk of electrical fire. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

"check turn signal error". This message pops up at random times. When this error does pop up, the rear turn signal ceases to operate until the error message clears itself. Dealership "cannot duplicate". I have photographed the warning many times. Hyundai corporate is of no help. Check led headlamp error issue as well.

7 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/11/2024

The closed recall of the brake light failing to illuminate has returned and I’m not sure of my future steps in getting it fixed. The Hyundai repair website mentions it as completed in 2014, when I did not have the car. At random, my driver tail light will not illuminate whilst braking. It has recurred repeatedly, so I’ve put the incident as the most recent time it happened.

9 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

The infotainment screen on my 2024 Santa Fe hybrid started flickering around 3k miles and right now at around 4. 5k miles, 95% of the times it stays dark and unresponsive, 5% of the time it comes on but constantly flickers and only works the other 5%. We have no way to monitor reverse camera and for a car with lots of blind spots, this has become a safety hazard. I tried the small reset button next to the right knob on the center console but no results. There's an open reddit thread on other owners expressing the same concern. This is nothing short of a major safety malfunction that could lead to potential damage to property and/or loss of life.

13 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 11/04/2023

My issue - when making turns at night with the low beam headlights on automatic and switching on the left turn signal the headlights go out for up to 30 seconds then come back on. This is very dangerous when driving in rural or low light areas. Possible headlight switch issue. Taken from the internet - I have a 2017 Hyundai tucson and last year this problem only happened once, but now it has been going on for the past 3 consecutive days. If I have my headlights on or on auto and I use the left signal, the headlights turn off. Only the left, not the right. The display on my dash displays the lights going to off and back to auto or on when the signal has been activated and then stopped.

14 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

Incident: I have been almost rear ended numerous, numerous times despite having my turn signal on an appropriate distance from my turning point. Safety issue: the rear signal lights are small and are only located on the bumper. The location of these signal lights are way too low for most driver's to even notice them! the signal lights also look like reflectors on the rear bumper especially in broad day light, making the detection of a signal even more difficult! I do like the Santa Fe, it is my second one, but had I known that the turn signal lights were located where they are, I would have never purchased this vehicle as the risk of getting rear ended is too high.

16 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe

Intermittently when you turn the left turn signal, it will be a delay of 2-3 seconds to actually turn on the lights. Usually it happens in the morning when cold.

17 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/01/2023

The blue link on all older models is not being supported which cause the screen to become stuck on loading screen. This is a visibility and safety issue because it cause blue link to reload and bright lights to flash as you are driving at night every time it reloads. It is a distraction from the road if you shut it off completely you have no access to radio or sound. The issue it cannot be fixed unless you pay for manual update but you have to it working to actually get the update to run. There are many forums discussing the issue.

19 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 08/04/2023

Per the mandated law in September of 2001 all vehicles sold in the united states are required to have a trunk release on the inside. The 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe does not. The 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe small SUV are very known for the lights to go out due to condensation in the tail lights. So needless to say it was built poorly as an owner like myself has to constantly change the tail lights or be rear-ended because I have no brake lights. To me this is a serious issue. One that Hyundai has failed to correct. However, I recently took my vehicle in to be serviced and to have the tails lights changed. The dealership lithia Hyundai of alaska informed me they could not do them because I had to much water in the tail light cover and that they couldn't get into the trunk due to my junction box having failure. Well I suggested they fix the light cover and change the bulbs so I wouldn't get hit from the back. Service advise there was no way to open the trunk from the inside. That I had to pay 5000. 00 to fix one part to be able to open the trunk. I advised that was illegal per NHTSA and they stated they never heard of that. I would like to make this complaint because even though I cannot get one thing fix I should still be able to get my trunk open from the inside, to fix my brake light bulbs.

22 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 02/22/2023

Low beam headlights are very dim. I have taken it in to be checked and have had the bulbs switched out numerous times. It does not help. They said the inside of the headlight assembly is flaking off and that both of the headlight assemblies need replaced. I can not afford to do that! it is a defect on the inside of the assembly its self. I have to drive with my brights on if I drive it after dark. It is very dangerous.

23 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 12/15/2022

The low-beam headlights are terrible, almost useless. I replaced both low-beam bulbs with high-quality bulbs and it did not help, at least not noticeably. The high beams work fine. The low beams are so bad that it is actually hard to see the road right in front of the car at night and the glare from oncoming headlights renders the low beams practically useless. This results with us doing most of our nighttime driving with the high beams on, even in traffic. We can't see the road without doing that.

24 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 07/06/2022

I bought the vehicle 2 months ago, and 2 weeks ago, I noticed the car was shaking when I applied the brakes. The engine light came on and I took it to the shop, and was told I needed a new engine.

The vehicle was repaired however, the contact stated that while driving, the tire pressure monitoring system, measuring system, passenger seat belt and the esc indicator warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the valve cover gasket and alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

26 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/30/2021

When the cruise control shuts down, the tachometer cuts out and the vehicle seems to go into limp mode. Brightening or dimming the headlights causes an intermittent bright flash to the interior lights. This could be potentially dangerous seeing as you have no acceleration, which could cause very extensive damage to person and property. The intermittent bright flash could be a result of an unregulated power surge, which could cause damage to person and property.

Failure Date: 06/05/2021

The drivers side low beam headlight did not come on. . . . Replaced the light bulb and it worked, so reinstalled the light assy into its housing,,checked it and it did work. . . . 5 hours later as I was leaving home the drivers side low beam was not lite again. . . . . The next day, replaced the bulb with a new one thinking I got a bad bulb. . . . Same thing happened. . . I have a lite headlight on the passenger side, high beams work, turn signals work, fog lamps work. . So it is not a fuse or a relay. Googled 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe low beam headlight and found this is a common, constant, and unresolved issue. . Called my Hyundai dealer, earliest he can look at the car is weeks away. So the safety issue is how do I drive at night ? Hyundai must be aware of this issue, but there is not any recall I can find. . I know I am using a correct replacement bulb, and they cost $18. 00 each. . . . . . Thank you.
