On July 27, 2019 driving on a county road at 50 mph in dry and sunny conditions, the airbag light illuminated as well as the passenger seatbelt light. The next morning I scheduled service right away. I started my car to go to schwartz Mazda in shrewsbury NJ on 7/27/19 for service thru my purchased extended warranty. At that time, neither the airbag or seatbelt lights were on, but nervous for mine and my family's safety, I brought the car anyway. I was informed by jarrod in the service department that they reset my computer and to let him know if the light(s) came back on. The airbag light came on briefly on August 11th while driving on a residential road going 35 mph on a dry and sunny day. I turned off the vehicle to park and then restarted my car to return home. The light was not on. Monday August 19th while traveling on a county road at 45 mph in rainy wet driving conditions airbag light came on accompanied by the flashing passenger seat belt light again. Made an appt for service on Tuesday, August 20th with once again, schwartz Mazda in shrewsbury NJ where I purchased the vehicle in may of 2018. Both lights were on upon my arrival in sunny and dry driving conditions. Their code reader produced the code "passenger mat sensor" and I was informed they would have to send it to circle Hyundai in shrewsbury for further diagnosis. I received a call from jarrod at schwartz Mazda at 11 am on Thursday August 22 with news that my repair was not covered under my purchased extended warranty and that the repairs would cost almost $600. I am fearful for my family's safety and the resources I have reached out to have been useless and unaccomodating. Why is no one concerned for the safety of airbags that will not inflate in the event of emergency? please contact me with a course of action I can take to repair this vehicle and keep my family safe.

My head lights flickers off driving. When I barely move the head light controller, it usually turns back on.
Somebody has finally died over this defect, now will something be done about it? I have owned 2 Hyundai santafe's a 2013 and now a 2015. The headlamp system on both cars, using halogen lamps, is inferior, unacceptable, for Volvo, deadly. This problem is not limited to the Hyundai car brand, but many brands using similar projector halogen headlamp systems. Driving anywhere in like equipped vehicles the low beam headlamps fail to provide enough light ahead of the vehicle to avoid an obstacle coming out of the shadows. Case in point, the uber Volvo pedestrian accident. Having driven professionally over 2. 5 million miles in my lifetime, my experience with this projector technology, it is my professional opinion the accident could not have been avoided. Because the lamp system on the Volvo, my two Hyundai's, fail to provide adequate lighting allowing the driver to see, and avoid, obstacles. I am attaching screen shots of a 7 second video related to the uber accident. Just over 3 seconds in, with a little over 1 second to react, the pedestrian is barely visible. The headlamps only illuminate to the end of the 2nd white stripe, on the left, in front of the Volvo. The same is true of both Hyundai's I have owned with a similar headlamp system. Studies have shown, with out any doubt, it takes a little over 2 seconds for a human to react, under ideal situations, to a unanticipated see and avoid driving event. In this exemplar the driver had barely more than 1 second to react, once his brain processed things, and then told his extremities to do something. Therefore, due to inadequate lighting, this accident in no way was avoidable, now somebody is dead, and you do nothing. I have looked for a way to illustrate this dangerous issue, this defines it in spades. Finally if the Volvo had the hid, or led lamps, for the defect to exist there, is more appalling.

While driving, all warning lights on the dash came on, and the gas range continuously fluctuated as if I was putting gas in the car, but it was leaking somewhere. The speedometer also stopped working. This is the second time this has happened since September.
While driving,I signaled a turn and smoke came from behind my steering wheel. My blinker worked but was making a fast clicking sound as if the blinker was going out. The noise will not stop and the smoke is intermittent. Contacted Hyundai because it is a known problem per the internet but they acted like they had never heard of it.

A safety accident has not happen with my vehicle but I do not feel safe driving somewhere at night since my front dome lights have quit working when I open my door. I don't have any warranty because y'all took away the good warranty since the car was originally my mother's. Please recall.

It started off as what seemed like just the bulbs burning out in any which light. Then my passenger window stopped working then started working. The lights still were having issues. It took a bit for me to realize that there is a short or something in the car. The lights go out then come back on then switch which one is out. The worst time was when it went in for an oil change and came back out with no lights working. I contacted the company to make sure there was no foul play and they checked their camera. I've had the lights looked at multiple times by multiple different companies. It never fixes the problem permanently. A few weeks ago the back right passenger lock stopped working then the next week the front passenger window again. Then yesterday the lock started to work and today it doesn't again. And speedometer is off. Hard to say by how much. Depends on which speed reader I go by.

Long break light in the back on top, falls out. Used special take to secure it.
After 141,000 miles the engine threw a rod, I had heard a clicking noise for a while but was assured it was a normal engine sound after taking it to the dealer. I change my oil regularly and have my slips, the engine completely failed while driving. In the last year and a half I am having to replace approximately one low beam headlamp per month.

While driving home from work, it got dark, so I turned on the lights ( the low beams) I was on the freeway, they seemed fine but when I exited the freeway onto a dark surface road, I was unable to see more than 30 feet ahead of me . There was total blackness above the lights. They are not set properly. I looked online to research if others have had this problem and I found out that it is common and people are just driving with their highbeams on to correct this the low beams are set at a terrible angle, it's crazy how bad they are. I live in a rural area and can not use the low beams at all. They do not illuminate far enough into the distance to make driving at night , safe. I purchased this car from a dealer 11 days ago. I did not test drive the car at night, had I done so I would have asked to have the lights adjusted. I would like you to look into this, as I believe this model vehicle should be recalled to have the head light adjustment fixed in order to drive safely at night and as not to blind other drivers by driving with the high beams on.
Our gas gauge shows empty, and the fuel light stays on, all the time. This occurs even after we fill the car up. This occurs whether the car is stationary or running. We have to track our fuel level by keeping track of the mileage. Also, if we turn the car off when fueling, it will not turn back on. We have to try over and over again until it turns on. We have found that if we leave the car running while fueling, it usually stays running; however, a lot of times, the car stops running and then, we struggle to get it started again. This is our 2nd Santa Fe (our first was a 2004, with which we never had a problem). If Hyundai doesn't do something to fix this problem, this will be our last Hyundai. This is dangerous on many levels, and as we all can see, there are currently about 350 other 2008 Santa Fe owners who have posted on this site with the same problem, this is an obvious safety defect, and needs to be recalled. Also, I noticed someone else mentioned they change low beams about once a month. We too, are having the same problem. We have changed more headlamps in this car than we have in all of our cars combined over 40 years.
Bought vehicle used in October 2014. In less than 2 years have had to replace the front passenger side low beam halogen bulb 4 times. Have used the least expensive bulb to the most expensive bulb and all burn out with in a few months of installation. The first installation was done by a Toyota dealership and the rest I installed. Also, the running lights in the same location (both white and amber) sometimes come on and sometimes I have to hit the outside to the lenses to get them to turn on. Do not know if this is relate to the low beam issue.

I live and work in the city and county, tucson, arizona. In the county there are generally no street lights at road intersections. My new car (2015 Hyundai Santa Fe) does not have any running lights on the side that provide side illumination at night. I have had multiple incidents when making right and left hand turns onto streets/roads without street lights where my car's lights do not illuminate the road I am turning onto until I completely make the turn. In several instances as I made the turn I could not see the road and I over shot the turn and drove well onto the berm and was able to stop and steer back onto the road or I turned too soon. Another instance was when I went down an embankment and was able to stop before hitting the bottom. Luckily these were no accidents involving vehicle damage or personal injury/death. The only way that I can see the side street, road or driveway I am turning onto is to turn on my bright lights. Obviously, this is very upsetting to oncoming drivers and a potential safety issue. In addition, at night when stopped or driving straight there is a black void approximately 15 feet in front of the vehicle. On one occasion I practically ran over an obstacle since it was too dark to see it. I took the SUV to my Hyundai dealer and explained the problems. Their solution is to use the fog lamps all the time at night. This addresses the black void in front of the car. It does not solve the right/left turn road lighting issue unless I used my high beams to execute the turn. They said that they were not aware of this type of complaint by other owners. I asked if they would contact the field representative to see if there are any fixes to this problem. To date, I have not had a reply. I am not happy with this headlamp design defect since it puts my passengers, other drivers, and myself at risk.
The dash lights started flashing, the wipers stopped working in the middle of a down pour, the lights went dim. The traction system started detuning the engine. All dash lights on. We find that it is a leaky value cover gasket. Drips on the alternator and causes it to go bad. The service manager said "they are all starting to have this problem and it's $700. 00. If I was the orginal owner Hyundai would replace the gasket, but I would need to pay for the altenator. $600. 00 uhgg!!! now for the fuel guage. Two sensors under the back seat and good as new. $200. 00.

Driving visibility during darkness and/or rainy conditions is significantly reduced due to dim and low beam direction of said vehicle making driving with high beams the only way to safely drive at night.
Very poor visibility while driving at night. Car dealer adjusted headlamps. This had no effect. The vehicle in question is not safe to drive at night with this style headlamp.

I recently bought my wife a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe sport 2. 0t. After having the car for several days I noticed that it did not have daytime running lights. I checked the owners manual and it said that some models had them. The car I bought was the top of the line model so I felt that the car should have them. I called the dealer and they checked their inventory and said that this model does not have them. I thought that all cars had them. I consider this to be a serious safety issue. ## VIN failed.
The low beam head lights have a very short range. There is a definite horizontal cut off just a few feet off the ground. Any thing above the cut-off line is not illuminated at all, night visibility is far too short just a few feet before the car. Difficult to see people crossing the road at night or any objects, creating a very unsafe situation. Exam of the head lamp assembly reveals a definite cut-off of the upper part of the reflector cone, reducing the available light. The high beam cone is round, having no such cut-off. Dealer could not correct because it is a design flaw.
The range of vision on the low beams is sub-standard. Going up hills, they seem to shine into the middle of the hill as if their long range aim was down, not up. Going down a steep hill , they appear to shine on a horizontal plane - not down on the road. The high beams are fine, but it's very difficult to see using just the low beams. Hyundai says there is nothing wrong with the focus of the light emitted by the lamps or with their aim. However, they are not fit for nighttime driving.
The airbag light stays on for no reason it has been on for 8months now and no fuses are blown and now my bright lights wont work when I flip them on the lights shut off.
