The tires on our vehicle are failing. They are prospector brand tires, size 225 70 16; dot bf 5cf9cc 4404 (3 tires) and dot bf 5cf9cc 3604 (1 tire). In the 3 years we have owned these tires we have always had difficulty keeping them balanced. The tires have less than 20,000 miles on them, and have significant tread life remaining. Over the years we have had to rebalance them frequently (about 7 times, most recently less than 1000 miles ago). At the last balancing, the mechanic said that there were buldges appearing in the tires, indicating to him that the tires were experiencing multiple ply separations. Now, once again, the tires are shimmying almost uncontrollably at expressway speed; less so at speeds below 40 mph, but still shaking. Using the internet, I found that prospector tires had been recalled by their manufacturer, bf goodrich, once before. I called bf goodrich (at 1-877-788-8899) and was told they had absolutely no information on the prospector tires, other than that they were manufactured in the same plant that makes bf goodrich tires. The customer service representative checked several times with her supervisor, returning each time saying that bf goodrich had no responsibility at all relating to these tires or this issue. I believe these tires are unsafe to use and will be replacing them within a week.

The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. The vehicle has bridgestone/firestone tires. The contact stated that the vehicle drove roughly at 55 mph. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they stated that a tire was defective. The dealer rotated the tires and stated that they had to order a new tire. A new tire was installed on March 15, 2009, but the vehicle was still shaking when in motion. The dealer test drove the vehicle and confirmed the failure. The contact was put in touch with a district manager and given a case number, but the district manager did not assist. Bridgestone referred the contact to a store in syracuse, NY and was informed that the tires were out of alignment. It would cost $194. 36 to balance the wheels. Both rear wheels were out of balance. On March 28, 2009, the contact added undercoating, which the dealer stated may have caused harmonic vibrations. The tire information was unknown. The current mileage was 1,100 and failure mileage was 19.

The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. The vehicle has bridgestone dueler a/t 693 tires, size lt225/75r16. Within one month of purchasing the vehicle, the contact experienced failures with both driver's side tires. The failures occurred while driving 45 mph or less. The dealer found a defect in the front tire where the steel belts had begun to unravel; however, they would not replace the front tire due to the nature of the failure and because it was not covered under warranty. The rear tire was plugged because there was a hole in the tire. Firestone confirmed that there was a defect with the tire, but the contact would be liable for the estimated $130 repair cost. The rear tire was replaced with the same brand, but a different model (turanza). He received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number (04t018000 tires:tread/belt) stating that the original tires on the vehicle were being recalled due to incorrect weight requirements. The manufacturer stated that the recall would not apply to him because the contact already purchased the tires from firestone. The dot number was unknown. The failure mileage was 1,500 and current mileage was 59,000.
Please conduct an investigation into numerous complaints regarding premature tire wear, suspension and steering in 2007 Santa Fe. I think they are connected and affect each otherby poor design or manufacturing process. Purchased as new vehicle in 12/2007. Noticed wobble in steering wheel a different speeds, conditions at 3k miles. Dealer found nothing wrong. Noticed rattle and klunking noise in left front when driving on uneven pavement at 12k miles. No dealer or mechanic could diagnose anything wrong. Replaced all 4 tires at 26k because front right tire worn to belt on inside. All wheels aligned at same time. Still had wobble, vibration at different speeds, accelerating, coasting, etc. Numerous balancing and rotations. Mechanic could not find anything wrong. At 31k, replaced sway bars and links, had wheels bearings serviced. Still wobbling, rattle in front end and uneven steering. At 32k, had wheel bearings repacked, another front end alignment, and all wheels, tires recalibrated to Hyundai specifications. Vehicle drove perfectly. . . For 3 days. All rattles, noises, wobbles, uneven steering problems returned. Going back to dealer 3rd time in 1 month. Rattle and wobble gets worse everyday. Don't feel safe driving this vehicle. I drive 15 miles to and from work on small expressway in austin, TX. No off roading, no pulling any trailers. Only hail damage to exterior. No front end collisions, engine problems or suspension damage before these problems were noticed. (small collision at 30,500k. I was at stop, driver in back rear-ended me at 5mph. My front end tapped car in front of me. Dealer body shop replaced front bumper "shock absorbers. No damage to frame or suspension. Is this a subframe problem, axle assembly issue or what? lots of comments/complaints on internet regarding problems like this. Again, I do not feel safe driving this car any further than to and from work. Cannot afford to trade in, buy different vehicle. .

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving over bumps in the road, the vehicle immediately drifts to the right. The vehicle has been aligned seven times and the rotors were replaced. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer five times. The speed was unknown. The current mileage was 1,004 and failure mileage was 12. Updated 03-04-08 the consumer stated 3 tires failed.
No prior warnings or conditions existed prior to failure. The vehicle would not start and it was diagnosed by a fellow coworker to be the fuel pump. Aaa was called to tow the vehicle , and upon arrival, put car in neutral to back it up in order to tow. Immediately, the front driver tire when flat, and it was a result of the front strut assembly breaking and causing the coil spring to snap and pierce the front tire. It has been 6 days , and I was still without the vehicle which was only 3 1/2 years old with 65,000 miles. I was told that nothing was covered by warranty and replacement parts were not available. In order to get the vehicle fixed quickly I had to accept parts from a 2006 vehicle.
