"takata recall" . . . On March 16th 2019 my wife was driving with a passenger our 2011 Hyundai Sonata limited when an accident occurred at a high speed the airbags did not deploy and the seat belts did not hold them back both were severely injured the brakes also failed to stop the vehicle. I am attaching a picture of the vehicle after the accident I do have the police report however the officer did not mention on the police report to my knowledge about the airbags but when you contact me I can give you the number of the shop that has the vehicle and they can verify that the airbags did not deploy.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 50 mph, the engine stalled and the brakes failed without warning. The vehicle was restarted and the failure recurred. The vehicle was driven to the mechanic. The failure was diagnosed as an engine issue. The VIN was included in an unknown recall. The failure mileage was 112,000.
I was on the freeway driving at 65 mph when the engine stalled and shut off. There were no warning lights indicating an issue with the engine. I was informed later by my mechanic that the engine had a catastrophic failure. The brakes failed because the engine was not running. I was lucky and able to coast to the next exit, the stop light was green and I could make it to safe location. Had the engine failed a few minutes earlier I would have been in the fast lane of the freeway trying to make it to the shoulder. Or trying to stop at a light with no brakes.
3 times on January 22, my brakes screamed and failed, almost causing me to crash. Since then, once in the rain, as I applied the brakes, the engine revved very noisily and the brakes failed, again nearly causing an accident. Now, every time I take my foot off the gas pedal and/or apply the brakes, the engine revs. This is a very dangerous situation. Hyundai has told me this incident is not covered by them.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the push to start button switch failed. When depressing the brakes and trying to place the vehicle into gear, the vehicle would not move. The failure recurred on an intermittent basis. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they advised him that the brake switch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired for the brake switch. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Brakes failed when trying to stop at red light at exit to parking lot driving between 5-10 miles per hr. Pressed on brake - did not go down. No response - car kept moving until I put gear in park and hit the truck stopped at the light. Driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata purchased on 5/31/10.
