4 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2018

Over the past year I have had to replace all my lights(front, tail and brake lights) consistently without warning. When grease monkey changed them recently, the mechanic stated that the wiring was very hot, and looked melted. Issue #2- when driving my car without notice, my lights inside will come on as I turn a corner or hit a bump. I have to turn them off in order for them not to come by themselves. Issue 3- my horn likes to work sometimes and other time, it will not sound. All my fuses have been checked many times, and no issue can be found. When I try to operate my radio from my steering will it have a mind of it's own. If I hit the volume up, it will activate the bluetooth call. Sometimes if I try to raise the volume to the radio, it lowers. Issue 4- when driving, and once I take my key out of the ignition, it's extremely hot. I really feel that there is a serious electrical problem in this car, and it needs to be addressed before something serious happens.

5 Horn Assembly problem

The buttons and horn on the steering wheel are not working, nothing happens when you push any of the buttons. Cruise control, odomiter reset, trip button, volume, bluetooth, radio station change, and horn do not work. The horn not working is a huge safety issue, I cannot let anyone know I am near or they are too close to me. While driving and while in parked mode.

The car would not start and all the electrical component lights came on (emergency lights blinking, turn indicators, electronic stability control, battery light indicator, etc. ). The horn was blaring also and the key was in my pocket. I thought I hit the emergency button by accident so I pulled out the key and hit the button off. It would not stop. I tried starting the car, but it would not. It went off finally. So, I tried starting the car and all the stuff started again. So, I came home while I could. This is totally unacceptable and dangerous.

10 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2012

The oem horn is not effective, I have had it replaced by the dealer when it was intermitant but t no one can hear the new one. I have been cut off numerious times hit the horn and no one reacts, it is as if they don't know I exist. I tested it on my family and they just laughed, calling it a bickcycle's horn. Someone will get hurt/killed. I would think these things must be at least a minium of "x" decibles, it this horn meets standards than the standard must be changed. This is a saftey harzard.

11 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2011

Wife activated the horn to get my attention. It sounded one short beep and went dead. Has not worked since. Horn can hardly be heard standing next the car let alone trying to get someone's attention inside a vehicle with the windows rolled up and the radio on. The other person would never hear it. Hyundai should replace these horns with something that can be heard in an emergency situation and not sound like a horn on a toy scooter. There are hundreds of complaints about the sound or failure of these horns on the internet forums.

The horn in a 2011 Hyundai Sonata is very weak. On a highway with all the road noise cars cannot hear the horn. When the horn is used it sounds like it is in the distance and not warning the car near you. The horn should be replaced with a louder audible horn.

15 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2010

I back up a previous complaint that the horn on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata is completely worthless and a safety hazard. It is so quiet that it is useless as a warning to pedestrians or other motorists should the need arise. It has to be replaced with a "normal" loud horn.

16 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2010

The horn on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata is not audible in traffic and does not provide any warning to other drivers or pedestrians. The very weak, ineffective horn and needs to be replaced. Please note dan bedore , a Hyundai spokesman , confirmed the model built after 9/1 will have a dual shell horn. Hyundai consumer affairs 1 800 633 5151 confirmed this as well dealership does not want to do anything.

17 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2010

I was cut off by a driver making a left turn into my path at an intersection who failed to stop at his stop sign. I tried to get the drivers attention by laying on my horn but the horn on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata is not even audible in traffic and does not provide any warning to other drivers or pedestrians. The very weak, ineffective horn is a safety defect and should be replaced by an effective horn.

18 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2010

Sonata 2011 horn and acceleration problems. People can not hear the horn. Also when I test drove they Sonata the test car had problems where there was accelerator problems. When I stepped on the gas the car almost quit, paused and they took off. This is dangerous and could cause an accident by not accelerating in time. This has happened on my car at least 7 times, accelerate, pause or hesitation the motor kicks in. When I asked the salesman about it at the dealer he told me the motor on the test car was probably cold. This happens when the car is warmed up. This is very scary when you pull out in traffic. Also the horn is a joke. You can't hear the horn and it needs to be replaced.

20 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2010

2011 Hyundai Sonata horn is so weak as to be inaudible at highway speeds. It needs to be upgraded to a dual tone immediately before someone gets hurt from not hearing the horn. On a car of this caliber, there is no excuse. I hope I get a notice to bring mine 2 day old car with 370 miles in for a replacement of the horn. Lane change going home from dealer caused me to notice this. Scared both myself and the guy trying to swerve into my lane.

21 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2010

I purchased a 2011 Hyundai Sonata on 5/11/2010, and noticed that the horn isn't loud enough for others to hear in heavy traffic.

22 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2010

Driving approximately 45 mph on a four-lane divided road, in left lane. Driver of large pickup truck on my right attempted to change lanes into the passenger side of my car. I honked but do not believe my vehicle's horn was audible to the driver of the truck at highway speeds. Was able to take evasive action to avoid truck without collision. The horn on this vehicle is very weak and represents a glaring safety hazard.

23 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2010

I was driving my vehicle down a four lane road and another vehicle driving parallel to me started creeping into my lane. I applied the horn of my vehicle but the other driver failed to hear me. I had to swerve off the road to avoid them. I have noticed that the horn in my car is very weak compared to previous cars I own, and am concerned about other people hearing it.

24 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2010

We took delivery of our 2011 Hyundai Sonata on 4/29/2010. As we were driving home a car on the lane next to us on my right hand side started shifting onto my lane. I blew the horn but he still cut me off. At the light I asked the person who cut me off if he didn't hear me blowing my horn at him and he said no I am really sorry but I didn't see you and I didn't hear your horn either. When I got home I got into my other car and started it with the ac on and no radio I asked my wife to press the horn on the Sonata and I can barely hear it and we were just sitting in our driveway with no road noise and my radio off. I looked into this issue online and others have the same issue with the horns on their Sonata. Hyundai also admitted that the horn was weak but I still see no change or recall. Please look into this matter before it cost someone their life or a real bad accident.

25 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2010

Just purchased a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, as I was driving home I was beside a tractor trailer who was attempting to turn into my lane. Here is the problem as I laid on the horn I noticed it's no louder than the road runner on disney channel. This is a huge safety concern and I think this should be brought to Hyundai attention ASAP. This horn needs to be changed to an appropriate sound level so oncoming traffic and dangerous situations can be avoided. I am not the only person the believes Hyundai should address this issue as I now see many complaints on the web about the horn just not being loud enough. Hyundai has come alone way and certainly has made a name for themselves and I would hate to see someone get injured or killed do to the horn not being able to get attention and avoid accidents. . . I hope NHTSA looks into this issue and it's addressed by Hyundai. . . . The horn needs to be changed.

26 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2010

I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and noticed upon delivery of vehicle that the horn is very weak. I have used the horn on the freeway and the driver of the other car did not even hear me. This is a potential problem in an emergency situation if you want to alert someone on the road. I hope this gets replaced soon.

27 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2010

I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The horn is a real safety hazard. You can hardly hear it inside the car, and in traffic, other cars can not hear it with all the road noise.
