1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2020

- engine had metal shavings in it which led to excessive amounts of oil consumption, it took the dealership almost a year to admit that the engine was going out -the brake light switch keeps going out, I have replaced my third switch in my 7 years of owning this car. -the taillight wiring harness warp the taillight housing for the brake lights due to excessive heat generated from the 2537 bulbs. In general, the wiring harness don't even last that long.

On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, I was at a traffic light when someone motioned to speak to me in regards to my driver side brake light being out. I proceeded to drive to my dealership to get it changed out knowing it was probably just a burnt out bulb. The dealership service personnel informed me that the whole socket where the light bulb sits in had melted. This caused alot of erosion in the bulb socket and affected the wiring as well. I feel deeply that this can cause a fire considering the light bulb busted and caused the whole inside of the socket to melt. I payed $150. 00 to repair the socket and wiring to fix the problem for now. I was told it may not last long. I'm hoping this problem doesn't linger and create more problems. I am very concerned on how these light bulbs pop and melt everything. I would like this to be treated as a safety issue. Please help me resolve this issue. Thank you for your time and have a great day.

Engine was replaced per extended warranty regarding recall. Vehicle was taken into massey Hyundai on 09/07/2019 and returned with reman motor on 09/12/19. Since then the vehicle has showed over heating and the backup camera displays a white screen on 10/09/19. Called after temp light came on and Hyundai has the nerve to say they will not pay for the tow. On top of that they person who answered the phone explained the wiring harness wasn't replaced. Temp light hasn't came back on due to my son not using the a/c. Nhtsa has not held Hyundai or kia accountable for issues they no doubt knew about. The recall should have been a buy back for these motors. We are not asking for a new vehicle. We just wanted the vehicle working properly. Now my son is stuck with a vehicle with all kinds of electrical problems due to Hyundais flaw. The electrical system was working fine prior to the engine replacement and Hyundai should be held accountable. Nhtsa is starting to frustrate me.

4 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2018

Takata recall my caught fire 4/20/2018, the smell came from near the passenger lower foot area, it was a rubbery burning smell that quickly became white smoke emitting from the area. The car began running very roughly about 6 months ago, I did an oil change. A month later the car was over 2 quarts low on oil, where the oil went I have no idea. The car has been in the dealership over and over and over for various electrical, mechanical and engine issues. I have all documentation and feel the car is a safety hazard. Why is Hyundai performing the inspections on these cars when clearly they are the ones responsible. The inpsections should be done by independent mechanics that will be non biased. My car doesn't have brake lights that operate correctly either they work sometimes or not at all. It just depends on the connectivity of the electrical wiring at the time, I am totally not sure. The car just began being able to start without pressing the brake pedal. This just started and the stop pad for the brake recall has already been performed. It isn't just a stop pad issue. The entire car is an electrical hazard waiting to happen I just pray I am not in my car when it catches fire and no one else is caused any accident or injury as a result of it.

5 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2018

I have been trying to communicate with Hyundai in regards to my electrical with my lighting, I have informed them that my back brake lights have went out at least every month changing them no less than twice a month a long with the head lights, now the part that holds the bulb has totally melted and you can smell the burning and they said that is not covered I have burned myself on this trying to evaluate the situation so I guess I will have to burn in the car after the wiring has completely melted everything else in the vehicle.

6 Wiring problem

2011 Hyundai Sonata limited 2. 4l. Left brake light out for the forth time. . But, this time the new bulb replacement wouldn't fix the problem. I had to have all the recalls fixed, so I made an appointment with the closest dealership an hour away in terre haute, in. The very next day. After they fixed one of the recalls they had to reschedule me for the following day to do all the rest, as they stated it would take most of the day to do. So, the next day my partner following behind me noticed that now both my brake lights were completely out! we again reported the brake light situation to the dealership upon arriving at 8am and dropped off the car. At 5pm that day we called to check on their progress and they stated that they were finishing up on the recalls but that the wiring harness on the brake lights had all melted together on both sides! and, they were unable to fix it until the next day. Ugh. . Then, quoted me $523. 23 to fix it! I've read countless people complaining of this same issue and wonder how many accidents this has caused. Dangerous and absolutely ridiculous! this should be covered in a recall.

7 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2017

The contact owned a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While the contact's daughter was driving, the vehicle started to smoke under the hood. The contact's daughter pulled into a parking space. Upon further inspection, the contact's daughter's boyfriend lifted the hood when the engine compartment suddenly caught fire without warning. The contact stated that a general manager of a nearby store extinguished the fire. No injuries were sustained and a police report was not filed. The insurance company had the vehicle inspected and diagnosed that the fire started behind the engine due to a shortage in the windshield wiper wiring. The contact called jim shorkey uniontown kia (724-317-0282 located at 1050 pittsburgh rd, uniontown, PA 15401), but the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,800.
