While driving, the car started braking, lost power steering,stopped and warning on dash said hydraulic brake system, do not drive. I was able to pull onto turning lane. Turned car off, then on again. Warning gone on dash, put into gear and was able to drive no problem. Made service apt. Drove 60 miles before happening again. This time would not restart. Towed to dealership. Was told hydraulic brake system failure. I have 20,000 miles on car but 1 yr out of warranty. $2,700. 00 and 3 days later they say this part has 1yr warranty. If this had happened on freeway it could have become deadly for me. I no longer feel safe in this car.
The contact owned a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The brakes failed while driving 60 mph and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The driver pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and all the warning indicators illuminated. In addition, once the driver was able to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road, the vehicle was turned off but the engine remained operable. Upon inspection of the engine compartment, the contact observed flames. The fire department extinguished the flames. The driver did not see any smoke. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard where it was deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

The vehicle was taken to dealer for inspection however the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the brake failure. Therefore the vehicle was traded-in.
