We had our vehicle warrantied for the rotten frame on our vehicle last year. At that point you would think Hyundai would have warned us that our brake lines were swiss cheese just like our frame, these cars rot out, the entire vehicle is a death trap. The brake lines broke 3 times in the past 6 months after sections were already replaced. These vehicles need all the brake and fuel lines replaced immediately!!! this is not routine maintenance and should be recalled immediately!! the power steering line rotted out 5 years ago, this car was made out of really crappy metal. Dangerous vehicle. Everything on this vehicle is rotted out beyond what is normal, the wheels, the brake drums, everything on these vehicles rot to the point of swiss cheese. After 10 years these vehicles are very unsafe. Our vehicle only has 50,000 miles on it.

Fueling problems. On near empty fuel tank the fueling hose will auto shut off after 1 to 2 gallons. I have to repeat start the fueling and it automatically shuts off after entering a gallon or two. Have to gauge when tank is near full which can cause a fuel spill if overestimating and not being fill if underestimating. It seems to happen at pumps that have the newer nozzle. This is the first summer for this problem and it may be caused by the heat with the newer nozzles. .

The contact owns a 2003 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while refueling, fuel would spill out from the filler neck. The failure would occur even if the fuel tank was completely empty. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel lines were too small to allow the fuel to enter the fuel tank. As a result, the fuel system would need to be rebuilt. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 92,000 and the current mileage was 94,000.
After attempting to call Hyundai, I am absolutely fed up with everything they are doing. I have "repaired" my vehicle on numerous occasions to no avail. After at least 5, definitely more, trips to the mechanic I have repaired the alternator twice, the idle air control valve, brakes, motor mounts, done a transmission fluid change, and have had to repair 2 flywheels in the transmission. That list does not include the general maintenance of plugs, filters, and oil. I can't deal with this anymore. This is not actually my vehicle, this is my mothers vehicle, but regardless of who's vehicle it is, this is not acceptable. What it basically is doing is when it reaches a certain mileage it will basically "kick/jerk/push forward" (for a lack of terms) when it reaches 12 mph and 32 mph and I'm certain of others but my mother virtually never drives above 45 mph so anything above that I'm uncertain of. It also has a very hard time accelerating to 20 mph. Once it's above 20 mph it's easy and accelerates very fast. My mother has nearly been hit twice due to this inability to accelerate as fast as it should. I have taken it too Hyundai and they refused to look at the vehicle saying it is out of warranty, so I took it too numerous different mechanics. I am getting 3 different answers, something in the fuel/air line, engine computer module, and transmission. I do not want to have to pay for any of these repairs so I haven't done any of them, but I am thinking that this definitely needs to be reported. There are transmission and electrical items being reported which may be related to this. If this is as numerous as I'm seeing on here, you may want to issue a recall on this vehicle. Once is a coincidence, 5 times is phenomena, but over 20 times is an explicit failure by the company, no matter if the vehicle is 30 days old or 30 years old.

I smelled gas inside the car after parking. Could see no visible leaks at first. On June 12 could see fluid dripping from midway under car, made service appointment with dealership to repair vehicle. They diagnosed problem as a rusted fuel line under the drivers seat. Service department estimated cost at $2,100. 00 dollars for replacing fuel line and front and rear brakes. Seemed reluctant to do repair of fuel line, mentioning how the brake lines are also located next to the fuel lines, length of time ordering parts and how complicated the repair is along with the rust in that location. Looking for repair shop to do the repair to avoid a fire.
The contact owns a 2000 Hyundai Sonata. While the engine was running, the driver inspected underneath the hood and observed fuel leakage from the fuel line. There were no warnings prior to the failure. The failure was related to the high pressure fuel line. The contact is in the process of repairing the vehicle himself. Currently, the vehicle is not operable. The failure and current mileages were 113,000. Updated 05/05/09
