Other Fuel System Tank Assembly Problems of Hyundai Sonata - part 2

Sonata comes with a 18. 5 gal gas tank. Upon fill up car will only take a maximum of 12 gallons. The supposed "range" of the cars computer show maybe 50 miles when registering near empty. Even so, only 12 gallons can be put into tank. With approximately 6 gallons that have to be still in tank, I should have a range of 180 miles at 30 miles per gallon. Gauge is in need of calibration apparently. Dealer claims to have never heard of this issue even though it happens upon every fill up.

Brand new car purchased and few issues. 1. Gas gauge only goes up to 7/8 even with full tank fill up. 2. Gas mileage does not seem to indicate correct mileage. With full tank gas, the indicator shows 450+ miles, but actual mileage is 300~350 miles. 3. Error occurs when playing songs from iphone 6 using usb cable.

The fuel tank on 2000 Hyundai Sonata is cracked and leaking gasoline. There is a strong gas odor in the cabin. The fire department and hazmat team responded. I could have been killed in an explosion if the gas vapors ignited. There is a recall for the previous model year Hyundai Sonata. The fuel tank can crack and leak gasoline. That is what happened to my 2000 Sonata. The car is now at a dealership where they are replacing the subrame because it has a recall for sever rust. They do not want to recall the issue with the rusted, cracked fuel tank.

Entering the car the interior smelled of gasoline. I drove the car a few miles and once stopped, I could smell the strong odor of gasoline outside of the vehicle. Looking underneath, I saw gasoline dripping to the ground from the front area of the gasoline tank. The car was driven to a mechanic and repaired. The part that failed was from the gasoline line and has a rounded right angle bend in it. Total overall length, including the bend is approx 7 inches. The line had rusted through allowing gasoline to escape the line. The failed part could easily have lead to a fire or catastrophic event.

Split fuel tank on the side, 2nd fuel tank to fail in the last 5 years. Hyundai claims there is no problems with fuel tanks, but google the Sonata fuel tanks and there is a ton of complaints. Hyundai will do nothing about it. No recall, no nothing. House and garage has severe gas smell and a large puddle of gas on the floor.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle had severe rust around the gas tank, brake lines and gas lines. The gas lines had leaks. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the gas tank, brake lines, gas lines and cross members needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000. Sw.

I was having great difficulty getting fuel into the vehicle. I took it to the Hyundai dealership in annapolis, MD. They replaced the valve-canister cl, canister assy. , and valve-purge contr. When I picked up the vehicle, the issue had not been resolved. I took it back and I'm not sure what other parts they may have replaced because I never again received any paper work. When I picked it up again, I was able to put gas in it, but it was leaking fuel all over the road afterwards. They had punctured a hole in my gas tank while working on it. It took approximately a month & four trips to the dealership to get this all resolved. And then on Aug. 4, 2014 I filled my gas tank up & fuel started leaking in the driveway again. Whatever they patched the hole in the gas tank with instead of replacing it, had blown. I contacted the dealership on Aug. 5, 2014. When the new serv. Mngr. Finally agreed to look at the vehicle on Aug. 12, 2014, he told me that it was in fact their fault & that he would order a new gas tank & it would arrive in 3-5 business. He also told me that they needed to replace all of the parts that I had already paid for back in Feb. I told him they already replaced them & he simply said ok & scratched them off the estimate of which he will not provide me a copy of. I have contacted them numerous times, but they still have not replaced the gas tank. I emailed the serv. Mngr. & copied the ceo yesterday hoping this might incite a response. The assist. Serv. Mngr. Emailed me this morning & asked me if I could drop it off next wed. I told him I had 2 appt. 's that day & could only do so if they could provide me with a vehicle. I have not heard back. I believe the issue of not being able to get fuel into the vehicle should be a recall as well from all of the people that I have seen on the internet searching for resolutions to the same problem with their Hyundai's.

My check engine light has been coming on said small evap leak any way went too dealer and mechanic said this has happened on hundreds of cars it is a leak in top of fuel tank and says gotta replace tank and couple of other parts on top of tank gonna cost 1500. 00 plus for tank and all parts and labor really these cars are lemons who can afford all these problems.

Fuel tank has split in half due to poor welding. Seems to be very similar to the issue with 1998 Hyundai Sonata. 3-4 gallons of gas leaked onto the ground within a few hours.

2011 Hyundai Sonata limited 2. 4l. Ever since I purchased the vehicle from the dealership in bloomington,in five years ago I've had a difficult time getting fuel to pump into this car. I can't even put it on the lowest gas pump setting and it will disengage the pump over an over again. Literally, most times only being able to put 5$ in at a time very, very slowly, with some gas stations leaving me unable to pump at all. I've complained about it over the phone for years. After going through cancer treatments, I finally went to the terre haute dealership for the first time instead of bloomington, also for more recall issues. They found the gas pumping problem and said it's the canister and valve near the gas tank that needs replaced quoting me $548. 65. Of course there's no warranty now at 140,000 miles. Once again left to do the work myself, as the part is really cheap an easy to fix. I don't know how one can justify that price. . Tired of all the crazy issues with this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while refueling, fuel spilled out from the filler neck. The contact also stated that the vehicle would only accept a small quantity of fuel before the fuel spilled. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that there was a failure within the fuel tank. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure occurred intermittently and had occurred more frequently in recent months. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 04v178000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

One day, while fueling my 2003 Hyundai Sonata, the pump clicked off after 1 gallon. From then on, it wouldn't let me fill more than 1 or 2 gallons without clicking off. Since that day, this problem occurs every time I refill and every time my tank is near empty or half empty, so I know that's not the issue.
