Engine Shut Off Without Warning Problems of Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

While driving the car on the freeway, it will jerk forward and then shortly after lose power. The car shows the battery as being barely charged. I pull over (luckily haven't been killed yet) on the side of the freeway. Let the car sit for a few minutes, restart it and the battery is half full and the car is driveable. I've read online that this is a common issue with 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrids. I've taken my car to a Hyundai dealership twice, and they can't find anything wrong, diagnostics show its fine. The second time I took it in they replaced the battery located in my trunk for $485. That did nothing, as the car is still randomly shutting off, and most times in the most dangerous areas of the road. I don't think Hyundai will do anything about this until numerous people are killed. Forgot to mention that sometimes when it shuts down the check oil light comes on. I've had the oil replaced and the oil sensor, so thats not the issue.

Around a year ago (Feb 14, 2018), I received a message "hybrid system warning, please stop now". My car shut down and thank god, I was pulling into my apartment complex. My car was inspected and was told it was the tps system. That was replaced and I was on my way. Over 7 months ago (July 2018), I received the same message; "hybrid system warning, please stop vehicle now". After the warning, my car stopped immediately and this time the road was clear and I was able to coast to the side of the road. After thornton road Hyundai inspected my care again, this time they stated it was the motor. After over $5000 worth of work here it is April 2019 and the same warning. This time I was stranded on a busy highway. Once the tow truck guy got there, he escorted me to his truck to be safe. I have looked into this warning over a year and no one seems to know the problem. This should be a recall and all Hyundai dealers should be made aware of what this warning is. We as Hyundai owners need answers and help. I cannot afford to put money into a car when the problem is only being patched up.

Tl-the contact owns 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The contact stated that they were driving at 60 mph and their engine shut off. The contact had to pull over quickly while in traffic and the engine would not cut back on after several attempts. The battery light did illuminate. The vehicle was towed to southtowne Hyundai (770) 471-1000 7665 us hwy 85, riverdale, GA 30274 where it was diagnosed and they informed the contact that a new engine is needed. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not informed of the issue. The failure mileage was 67,000. Jw.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle shut down several times without warning while driving various speeds. The contact was uncertain as to what caused the failure, but felt it may be related to TSB number: 06-01-004-1. Keffer Hyundai (9010 e independence blvd, matthews, nc 28105, (704) 247-5645) was made aware of the failure and planned to schedule a diagnostic appointment. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Hybrid system warning has come on four times, car shuts off instantly, then the engine light comes on. The first time was on a city street, the second time was a the dealership when picking up the car after repair, the three time was in a parking lot, and the fourth time was on the interstate in heavy traffic. Car is not safe. Asked for a replacement with no resolution.

Engine shut off and battery only lets you go 1/4 mile pulled into parking lot turned car off waited 5 minutes and car started back up. Took car to dealer but could not find anything wrong told me to drive it. It happened again in April they had car for 7 days but could not find anything. Told me to drive it. It started again on june17th they say there is nothing wrong.
