I was driving the cars lights went off it started knocking then a scraping noise I looked under car the plastic cover was half off so I took off to see what the problem was 2 pieces of broken metal were on plastic cover and oil was coming out had to tow it took to dealership in odessa where I bought to car still had packaging in it … dealership says my car is not one of the Tucson that has a recall on it…why?.
The vehicle was serviced not long after I got it as a certified pre-owned vehicle for reprogramming of the transmission, which I told it was a just a reprogramming to make it more reactive. The vehicle would fail to accelerate, or have delayed acceleration. I was not aware at the time that these vehicles were known to have faulty transmissions and if I known this at purchase I would have spent my money on a more reliable vehicle. The vehicles transmission is having issues again, not reversing, not accelerating, etc. The Hyundai dealership I got it from told me that they won't even get me into the dealership for a diagnostic until January 6th,,, which is a huge safety issue. Furthermore, apparently Hyundai is well away of the fact that they have allowed Hyundai owners to drive vehicles with faulty transmission and will not help with extended the warranty on their vehicles. I am 477 miles over 100,00. It seems as though they do not even want to help with repairs, even if they are out of pocket.
There are no warning lights. My car stalls when I go to take off from a stop. It stalled on an interstate. It acts like there is no power if you put your foot on the gas all the way down it will take off eventually or if you put it in park turn it off and back on it will go without histation. This has happened at stop lights as well. I am scared that I will get hit.
Cracked cylinder wall in engine, after major oil consumption issues, complaints filed with dealership, corporate offices, did oil consumption tests and further Hyundai corporate recommended an engine clean out which helped for a while however last year they had to replace my catalytic converter because it was "clogged", but still maintain that it didn't have to do with the oil consumption issue. No warning lights came on engine just wouldnt accelerate properly when pulling out in traffic, made noises and would not perform as it should. I have all service records pertaining to this vehicle since we have owned it. Dealership is wanting us to pay 8k for repairs because Hyundai says its not covered under the recall .
My concern is who is going to pay for the damage to my car? I initiated a claim with Hyundai due to my car malfunctioning at a stoplight, the light turned green and I gently pressed the accelerator and it lurched forward and smashed into the car in front of me. I had taken my car in multiple times telling them the accelerator sticks and hesitates. Each time they told me nothing was wrong with it. I researched online and I found many people were having this same issue with the accelerator in the 2017 Hyundai Tucson. I was also told there is a software update available to help with this. The service department at the dealership said there is not one. I have an appointment with the Hyundai service department on 12/20, I need to know who is going to pay for my car.
When pressing on the accelerator pedal the Tucson jerks and hesitates and seems to almost turn of then after a few seconds will actually accelerate. This almost caused me to have an accident because it stalled when making a right turn.
Driving into work on Friday June 2, 2023 my engine started making a noise that got progressively worse as I got to work. The engine was knocking loudly and I was not comfortable driving it home. I called aaa and had the vehicle towed to a Hyundai dealership. The car has 77,780 on it. I bought it used in 2019. The engine is no good. No lights no indication of any problems just that horrible noise. I was told because I bought it used the powertrain warranty wouldn't apply. I did buy an extended warranty and am now waiting to see if they will cover the engine. I am now up to $300. 00 in "diagnostic" fees. I knew the engine was gone I could have saved my money but of course need to now jump through hoops to see if this will be covered. Not holding my breath I am sure there will be some fine print in which is will be denied. They said that it would cost $15000. 00 to put in a new engine. I owe $9000. 00 on the car. Unbelievable!!!.
When proceeding to move forward, the vehicle will sputter. Almost as if the vehicle is out of gas or not getting enough power to smoothly accelerate. This presents a very hazardous condition when leaving a red light or crossing an intersection. The vehicle jerks and sputters for about 2-4 seconds and then responds to the gas pedal and accelerates. Took it to the dealer and explained the problem and they said it's a known problem but there hasn't been a recommended fix and to drive the vehicle with the turbo mode on. Even with turbo mode on, the issue still persists.
I have had multiple instances where the car will not accelerate and can shutter or lurch when I press on the gas. I recently had an incident where I was turning left and the car lurched into traffic and almost stalled as I was trying to turn and avoid the oncoming traffic. This has happened before and is very unsafe. Fortunately, the oncoming traffic was able to stop prior to hitting my car. This apparently is a known issue with this model and the manufacturer refuses to address the issue for this year. I am at the point where I either need them to fix it or I will have to get rid of it because it is very dangerous.
My 2017 Hyundai Tucson (91,000 miles) suddenly started having issues shifting into gear. We pulled into traffic and were unable to accelerate for several seconds which created a hazard for both passengers and oncoming vehicles. We took to automotive shop in clarksville, in. It was determined that vehicle would not shift into first, third, or fifth gear. The shop informed us this was a common defect with this make and model vehicle. We were also informed that only Hyundai dealerships could service because of specific software and calibration requirements for this specific transmission.
March 6, 2023 the check engine came on and I came out of pocket $900 for new ignition coils. . A month later, the engine starts knocking and now they're saying that the engine is completely bad and would have to replace it. The engine burned alot of oil in that time. I was getting oil changes before the oil change mileage mark. I'm stuck at this moment because there is no recall for the engine for my VIN.
My Hyundai Tucson beginning at 65,000 miles began consuming more oil than normal. There was a transfer of title through a family member with the vehicle and was not aware that in that case the cars 100,000 mile warranty is no longer valid. It is then reduced to half that or 60,000, one of the 2. I brought the fact up to the service rep at Hyundai that it was going through a lot of oil and they stated that it was normal with multiple cars that Hyundai produced. The oil was burning off and no detection of leak and no check engine light has ever came on. It never over heated. I then brought this up to Hyundai at about 92,000 miles and thats when I learned about the warranty being voided because of the transfer. The car at the time is running just fine but still burning oil and still nothing from the dealership about any issues because the check engine light never came on. Until I was going home one day and the car began to stutter and losing power . It was struggling to produce power and I finally pulled over to a safe spot. It did not wanna start after that. I had it towed to Hyundai service center and they later told me that my engine needed a fuel system flush. They did that and I drove it just fine for about a month. Then it did the same thing only this time the check engine light finally came on. The code was giving them a misfire of 2 cylinders and was not holding enough pressure. They then said my motor was gonna need to be replaced and that threw me off. I feel like that should have been detected much earlier but without any sign of overheating or engine alarms it just kept running up until that point of the motor no longer running. I feel that if I were to get some kind of check engine light earlier in then it is possibly that this could have been avoided. I feel like this issue remains and is well overlooked to many of their vehicles. I just need a new engine not looking for money or anything else, just a car that is reliable and safe.
I am the sole owner of a 2017 Hyundai Tucson limited, (awd) with the 1. 6l engine, 7 dual clutch transmission, with 46,000 miles as of today Thursday, February 23, 2023. Currently, I am experiencing problems with the engine/transmission stuttering and vibrating, the gears slipping, and with the inability to accelerate when merging into oncoming traffic. In addition, what frightens me the most is when I am applying the gas when driving and the gears stick causing a brief halt in forward motion then, suddenly progressing forward with a quick burst of speed. On many occasions, I have shared my concerns with the dealership from whom I purchased my vehicle from Hyundai of chantilly, located at 14848 stonecroft centre court, chantilly, va 20151. I have been told that the dual clutch transmissions are trash in so many words and I have been quoted a price of $2000. 00 to have the transmission replaced. I am at my wit's end and unsure of my rights and to whom should be held accountable. Therefore, I am writing NHTSA for assistance.
On acceleration, the rpm's rev but transmission fails to respond. Slow to accelerate on lower speed end.
My car shudders upon accelerating at low speeds and hesitated to respond to the gas pedal at low speeds. This shows itself when taking left hand turns where the car will stall for a second or two while turning before the car finally pops and the acceleration kicks in. The transmission feels unresponsive. This has been happening since my car had 5k miles on it but is worse now that it has 35k miles on it. The dealer says this is a characteristic of the dual clutch transmission, and that it’s normal, but it feels extremely unsafe and not normal for an automatic transmission.
The car has been having numerous acceleration issues, it can take upwards of 30secs to actually start moving from a light or stop sign. It also seems to be shifting late and/or slipping. This had caused me to be stuck at a light in the middle of the road and almost hit by another car. Also, my engine completely failed within 5mins, I was driving and the check engine light came on, then the oil light, then the engine started smoking, and then the car died in the middle of the road. The engine completely seized in 5mins. I had all oil changes done and there was never an oil light on saying it was low. When the dealer checked the engine there was no oil, probably from the rod breaking out. There. Was some if the same issues with the same year that got recalled and fixed for free. I got quoted $16,000 from the dealer. That's more than I owe and what the car is worth. I'm stuck with no vehicle and don't know what to do.
I have had my 2017 1. 8l eco Hyundai tucscon for 3 years now and recently it's been giving me signs of problems that are great concerns for safety, as well-known for this models; it only 62091 miles as of the day of this complaint. On Jan 15. 2023, I noticed that each time I start the car, it takes a little bit longer, then you hear a rattle sound and shaking of the engine block, then it start. Or the engine would suddenly slip, followed by a brief rattle sound while driving. I took it in for service to manly Hyundai in santa rosa on Jan 27, 2023, but the mechanics there told me that they could not find where the problems are coming from, and that I would need to wait for an engine light to come on, as any diagnostic at this point maybe unnecessary and costly. Had I known that the 2017 Tucson had so many issues and recalls, or engine defects, specially the slipping or shaking on acceleration from idle, I would never put my money on a commuter like that. I am still worried for the eugine not to blow up as per previous incidents with this model. Common issues: the18. 0-liter eco 4-cylinder engines, which may have defective rod bearings. The bearings may wear prematurely. This can cause the engine to stall during operation. In extreme cases, a damaged connecting rod can puncture the engine block and cause the engine to leak oil onto hot components, leading to a fire. Please do something.
2022-1-09 left the house to run errands and noticed the car seemed sluggish when I stepped on the gas to accelerate. I'd actually felt like this may have been happening for some time but it is a "sport" and it always felt a little funky when you accelerrated. It was blistery cold so my initial thought was I left too quickly and the vehicle maybe needed time to warm up. It felt like the engine didn't either seem to be shifting to a higher gear, or getting enough power to accelerate which was very concerning as this happened as I pulled out onto a busier road, yet couldn't accelerate. I made it to my first stop but called my husband to express concern something seems off with the vehicle. I told him I would likely skip my errands and come home for him to take a look. After my stop, I started the Tucson up to head home - and now the check engine light came on (solid)! apparently flashing check engine is more serious? I was able to make the drive home to unload groceries but the whole ride home I couldn't accelerate properly so it was a scary drive home, I drove slowly on backroads and used my flashers to get home safely. We immediately called the Hyundai dealer near us which closed. Called four times the next am as we needed whatever was going on fixed quickly. Once the vehicle was at the dealer, we learned it had complete transmission failure. Thankfully it appears this is under warranty. It is still at the dealer as it needed to get an inspector to come out to confirm it was transmission failure (which has now been confirmed 10 days later).
Transmission wants to studder or jump around violently during take off; loss of acceleration at low speeds. Normally have to stop and start again or floor the accelerator to make the vehicle proceed.
This car has a the 7 speed dct. This transmission is very unsafe. I have been fighting with the transmission losing power and being jerky for the last year or so. After looking online I found that everyone with this transmission is having the issue. You never know when you will have power and it has almost got me into a major accident several times. There was a class action lawsuit agains Hyundai in 2016 for the dct transmission and they Hyundai lost. Yet they still put the same unsafe transmission in the 2017 and said they fixed it. Hyundai needs to be held accountable for lying to the consumer as well as putting the consumer in an unsafe situation.
The dual clutch intermittently shakes and hesitates while accelerating from a stop. Also, sometimes it's sluggish while driving and feels like it might stall. This is dangerous because if I needed to speed up to avoid a crash, I'm afraid the car may hesitate and be involved in an accident. There are recalls for other Hyundais with the dual clutch transmission for this same problem. Available for inspection upon request. Didn't show this to my dealer. No warning lamps. The engine has always intermittently shook and hesitated when accelerating from a stop. The feeling that the vehicle is sluggish and that it may stall after accelerating while stepping on the gas pedal started recently around 19,300 miles on the odometer. I also reported this issue to Hyundai.
The components that are malfunctioning are the gas nozzle entrance, and the dual clutch transmission. It’s available for inspection, and is being inspected currently at a dealership. My safety’s been put at risk to combustion when filling gas, resulting in risks of fire and/or explosion. The dual clutch affects my, and others, safety with major hesitation, jerking, and risk of stalling at any given time. The problem with sparking at the gas nozzle entrance has been reproduced and recorded by the dealership server al times. The dual clutch was diagnosed as faulty and replaced twice, both within a two and a half year span (from which I was told it will continually happened and need to be replaced down the road). The issues have been inspected by dealership, kengraff Hyundai surprise, arizona 85388. There were absolutely no warning lamps, messages, and/or symptoms of the problems.
Vehicle has failed multiple times while driving in traffic forcing erratic, sudden and unexpected moves across traffic to get to side of road while trying to avoid accident. 1) ignition coil failure/cylinder misfire 3 occasions causing violent shaking suddenly while driving. Replaced all three times. $2,300 expense 2) transmission failure/slipping and then lunging within traffic and now undrivable. $7,200 quote from dealer to fix!.
The sunroof has issues closing. Barely is used and the sun shade will not close. Also the car rocks and stutters when accelerating. It stops after you get going. Dealership said this is normal.
When en route to a dr. Appointment I was hearing a consistent knocking noise coming from the engine bay, the fast the rpm's were the louder the knocking sound. Upon starting the vehicle to leave the dr. Office the knocking was becoming very concerning in volume, so I decided to take it to the dealership approx. Less than 4 miles. By the time that I made it to the dealership and had them inspect the noise they stated that they didnt trust the vehicle leaving their lot. It has been under their inspection process ever since. I have been having issues with them honoring the warranty I got with the vehicle upon purchase and the refuse to acknowledge the issue with the known recall on over 83% of the total Hyundai Tucson's of that years production run. When in contact with their "middle man" as she called herself, Hyundai has stated that if the engine is in need of replacement that they will only cover up to 80% of the total repair cost ($9,9**. **) leaving myself with close to $2,000 to pay for a vehicle in warranty.
My vehicle is not accelerating properly because of the transmission is failing for no reason. Sometimes it revs up to 4k rpms and the car is barely moving. This can cause an accident since I can’t merge or change lanes quickly.
Excess oil consumption, gear slipping, dual clutch, fly wheel, oil found in the turbo inlet, clutch dust found in the transmission, encouraged to just keep adding oil and drive the vehicle. Encouraged to drive the car when there was assumed to have contaminated transmission fluid. Encouraged to keep extra oil in my car since it was consuming oil rapidly but was still considered with in specification from Hyundai. Encouraged to add oil and drive the car after it stalled and quit working. This is a known defect with Hyundai's. Some even catch fire and also stall at high speeds while being driven. This is irresponsible, hazardous, and neglectful behavior that could have hurt or even worse killed someone.
The dual clutch transmission is faulty. It jerks, acts like its going to stall and does not accelerate properly. It almost caused an accident while driving through an intersection. The vehicle didn't accelerate moving through the green light and acted like it was going to stall. Very dangerous!.
The transmission consistently slips, or does not engage. It sputters, jerks, or simply does not go when the accelerator is depressed. One incident was so bad that when it finally engaged, it threw me back against my seat then sputtered and moved ahead slowly, all while merging into traffic. Very dangerous!.
The 2017 Hyundai tuscan dual clutch transmission is seizing and unable accurate above 40 -45 mph. It is also unable to engage into reverse. It will shift into reverse, however will not move even when one places their foot on the gas pedal. The Hyundai Tucson seized while driving and I was almost hit in traffic. The dealerships in the austin area have not been helpful as the closest they state they could look at it is November or December 2022 for a diagnostic and they are not willing to honor the powertrain warranty. After doing some research it seems a commen issue among tuscan owners and is very similar to the issue Hyundai had with recall # 149 as related to the 2016 model. The vehicle is hazardous and unsafe to drive. The vehicle is putting the safety of myself and others at risk. There was no warning what so ever until later in the day when the check engine light came on. It is available for inspection.
On my drive seat the recline switch with not go back only forward. The dealer explain to me that the switch is going to cost me over $700 . I recplace the power seat switch for $49. 99 and the power seat switch knob only cost $ 12. 48 , now I am going replace the motor $257. 22.
Transmission jerks and shakes intermittently while slowly moving forward, can shake very violently, for example, waiting in line or at a stop light with foot on brake/slow release.
Transmission stutters on light acceleration from a rolling stop or after slowing for a turn and then speeding up. It feels like it is jumping between gears. I can recreate it by slowing from 50 mph to 40 mph (you can feel it downshift at or near this speed) and gently accelerate back to 50 mph. The car 'bucks' until it gets fast enough to shift. I can put the car in "manual shift" (it is an automatic transmission) and this doesn't happen. That makes me feel it is a computer shift control issue.
Powertrain: vehicle losses power especially going up inclines or hills. This happened before and I spent over 4500 dollars on repair of a catalytic convertor that failed. This was late may of 2022. Now the car is back at a Hyundai dealership because the catalytic convertor has failed again it is Feb 2023. The car has extreme oil consumption which is one of the causes of catalytic convertor failures. The car in November of 2022 had a loss of power again but this time coils failed. Had all three coils and spark plugs replaced. The certified mechanic shop gave me the spark plugs and it was if they had a black felt on the tip of them. The mechanic said this was a sign of high oil consumption. High oil consumption is also a cause of coils and spark plugs failing prematurely. I have records to show how much oil I have bought and it is about 3 quarts every 1-2 months depending on how much I drive. This is extremely high and a sign of a faulty engine. It puts me in danger of being rear ended in traffic or on an open highway because it losses power. I use my car for work and sometimes that work takes me to small country towns. My work sometimes mean I get back when it is dark or get up when to get to work when it is dark. A car failure on a dark country road is unsafe. Yes a Hyundai dealearship in decatur and lubbock TX as well as a certified mechanic in keller texas can attest to no warning lights or codes and the car has high oil consumption. Inspected by two different Hyundai dealarship service repair locations no warning lights, no check engine lights, nothing to give notice of a problem about to occur. I have tried to deal with Hyundai but they refuse to accept that the issues are due to a bad manufactured engine. However all the signs point to that is the problem. Lastly the check brake light comes on but mechanics can never find a problem. So they replace the bulb but it just keeps happening. It will come on , stay on for a day , then go off. Just periodic.
While driving on the highway the vehicle would not increase speed after making a complete stop at a traffic light when pressing the gas pedal. While trying to back into a parking spot the vehicle would not go in reverse after shifting the vehicle into reverse and lastly the vehicle would not budge/move in neutral or any other gear. No warning lights came on. The dealership Hyundai of south brunswick, NJ confirmed the vehicle locked up when the tow truck driver was trying to get it off the flatbed and that the transmission is shot and needs to be replaced.
