When press the brakes the rear brake lights do not come on. The vehicle rear lights are on but the brakes lights do not illuminate when the brake pedal is pushed when having to stop or slow down. Only found out about the lights because individual behind my Veracruz pulled from around me to the driver side of my car and told me I had no brake lights just tail lights and he almost rear-rear ended me at the stoplight.

My vehicle is experiencing all of the issues listed in the following campaigns, yet, the manufacturer is refusing to cover the replacement of the part. 13v113000 09v122000 the vehicle gets stuck in drive, or park, and can't be adjusted when the brake is depressed. The esc sticks on randomly. I've replace many, many brake lights in this vehicle.

Brake light, abs and esc off light on repeatedly. Brake lights stopped working. Vehicle would not shify out of gear. Auto start stopped working. Had stop lamp switch replaced, now speedometer not registering and esc light flashing on. The brake light, abs and esc off light still remain on.
Regarding service brakes, hydraulic: switches: brake light recall for 2007 Hyundai Veracruz, NHTSA reference #09v122000. My 2007 Veracruz suffers from some of the exact problems described in the recall but is not included in the recall. The recall describes the following: "a stop lamp switch malfunction may also affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature so the transmission shifter would not be able to be shifted out of the park position. It may also cause the electronic stability control (esc) malfunction light to illuminate. " for the past 3 years the esc light on my 2007 Veracruz has illuminated periodically while driving or when starting the car, and it will remain on until the engine is shut off. Pressing the esc on/off button on the dash will not shut the light off while in park or driving. Turning the car off is the only way to turn the light off. I contacted the local Hyundai dealer and described the problem, their answer was that the light illuminating is normal and not to worry. Also, for the past 3 months, periodically the automatic transmission shifter will not shift out of park. You must shut off and restart the car a few times for the transmission to operate. I believe that these problems are directly related to the recall and my Veracruz should be included so that my vehicle operates properly. Thank you.
Traveling at 55 mph a whirling noise started under the hood on the drivers's side. Abs,esc,, check engine ,and parking brake lights came on at the same time, the speedometer went to o, and the car shut off. Nearly rear ended twice, injured , and nearly struck down getting out of the car and off the highway. Could not get the car started. Had car towed. Colonial Hyundai of downingtown, PA. Diagnosed the car with a bad abs hydraulic control assembly. Part number 58910-3j 850. The car could not be moved until the part was installed. It cost me $2500. I requested an insurance claim form, but was told Hyundai motors or colonial Hyundai would not pay for it. Called Hyundai in fountain valley CA. Filed a claim: number 9841469. Obtained diagnostic reports and repair invoices from colonial Hyundai. Car has only 30,000 miles purchased brand new.
At approximately 62000 miles, all brake lights came on then off then on then off. Finally at 65000 miles the brake lights and abs and ecs lights all came on and remained on. Took to dealer paid $136. 00 diagnostic fee. Hydraulic module defective. Dealer will not warrantee yet knows of problems with similar Veracruz vehicles part alone $1,500. 00 nobody is helping consumer with this issue. Complained again to Hyundai USA and nothing!!! I'm being told hydraulic modules are known defective part! car braking system not working correctly as a result!.
The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Veracruz. While the brake pedal was depressed, the brake lights did not illuminate. The contact mentioned that the brake was not registering with the vehicle when the brake pedal was released. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake lamp switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact was aware that the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 09v122000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
Esc light came on, gear shift will not come out of park, drive or reverse unless gearshift release button is pushed. Esc light being on results in shifter not moving, no brake lights, no reverse light at any time. This recall was made in 2009 was repaired and the same issue has returned but Hyundai will not fix it because the recall is closed. It is campaign 092 stop lamp replacement. This problem affects brakes and brake lights so while driving other drivers have no idea when you are stopping or slowing down. This is extremely dangerous. The fact that it has been recalled once fixed and is doing the same thing again should mean another recall and different fix for the vehicles. Hyundai was notified yet refuses to fix it because it has already been fixed once. We were told to have it fixed and we could possibly receive a refund. This issue is continuous and happens while parked, on the highway, and city streets.
The esc light is constantly illuminated when the car power is on. Rear brake lights intermittently don't come on while driving. Frequently unable to shift the car out of park (which we have to perform manually with a screwdriver and the override switch in the shifter console). Due to previous recalls, we have discontinued using cruise control because we aren't sure whether or not it will disengage when braking. These problems began over 6 months ago. They are very much a safety issue! despite identical problems in nhtsc campaigns for this year/make/model vehicle -- a campaign has not appeared for my vehicle's VIN.
We have a well maintained 2008 Hyundai. Like some others we have reported we also have an issue where the abs, esc (traction control) and sometimes the park brake lights will illuminate. They will stay on for a while and then turn off again with no rhyme or reason. When the lights are on the traction control and abs systems are disabled, making the car unsafe to drive. Our car is not old and has been well cared for. . . It seems ridiculous that this type of issue is occuring.
All brakes lights came on initially. Then when driving, the car started losing power and stalled. Thankfully I was on a county road with a driveway I was able to exit on. Otherwise on a busy highway it could have been very dangerous. The part that failed was an abs modulator valve assembly. It cost $2,615. 06 to fix. Also, I'm concerned it was replaced with the exact same part, which will most likely fail again! the Hyundai part no. 58910 3j950 hydraulic module.
Abs control module / pump failed while operating the vehicle under normal highway conditions. Abs and esc disabled and brake lights not operational. Advised by Hyundai dealer to replace the abs module at a cost of $2,100 for the module (excluding labor).
The vehicle got harder and harder to put in and out of gear until it would not come out of park until you slammed on the brakes a few times and turned the engine on and off. Then when you got to your destination you couldn't get the car back in park without the same routine. Brake light switch was out. But the dash lights started blinking on and off. Took it to the Hyundai dealership and it turned out front and rear valve covers gaskets had leaked and dumped oil onto the alternator causing it to burn up. Very expensive repairs and possibly dangerous situation to be in.
Driving less than 40 mph and multiple lights came on, almost simultaneously. First esc off, abs and parking brake lights. Then momentarily afterwards check engine and tpms lights came on. Took it to stealership, said the brake control module was bad and needed to be replaced. Car kept in excellent condition with freq oil changes and proper tire maintenance. Est cost to repair $2,800. Out of warranty and was told that they haven't seen anything like this in their shop.
The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Veracruz. The contact stated that the electronic stability control light was illuminated and the vehicle was difficult to shift into gear. Additionally, the brake lights would not illuminate. The contact stated the defect was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Veracruz. The contact stated that the rear brake tail lights failed. The manufacturer was made aware of they failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 09v122000 (service brakes, hydraulic:switches:brake). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 84,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Veracruz. The contact was driving approximately 50 mph and noticed the brake transmission shift lock indicator illuminated until the engine was turned off. Whenever applying the brake pedal, the brake lights failed to function; however the brake lights remained illuminated after the brake pedal was released. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number 09v122000 (service brakes, hydraulic: switches: brake light) but the contact was informed by the manufacturer that the VIN was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 62,300. Kmj.
At 16343 mileage, electronic stability control (esc) warning light illuminated and vehicle was difficult to shift out of park. Dealer replaced brake light assembly under warranty. At 40,100 mileage, esc warning light again illuminated. Dealer again replaced the brake light assembly switch under recall campaign 092. At 87,719 mileage, the esc warning light again illuminated and vehicle was difficult to shift out of park. Dealer again replaced the brake light assembly switch at my cost, even though the bad switch had been replaced due to a recall. At 129,000 mileage, the esc warning light is once again illuminated and the vehicle is difficult to shift from park. This means that the brake light switch is again bad. The vehicle is on it's 4th brake light switch. Since this is part of a part defect recall, Hyundai should warrant the replacement part for lifetime free replacement, but they do not. The replacement recall part is obviously no better than the part it replaces. The brake light switch is not a routine wear part, and at this degree of failure, an severe design flaw is indicated. This is a critical safety item that affects electronic stability control, shifting, and brake light illumination.
