On two separate occurances my 05 Hyundai Xg350, when in city traffic at approx 35mph, failed to drop engine rpm when the brakes were applied during a traffic light stop. To stop the car, I had to shift the car to neutral. The engine raced then immediately droped to an idle. This easily could have resulted in an incident had I not shifted to neutral. Local dealer advised that all was ok - no problems!.

: the contact stated the brake pedal depressed further down than the gas pedal and the brake pedal was located to close to the gas pedal. Updated 9/13/2006 -.
I bought the 2004 Hyundai Xg350 in February 05. In summer of 06 I began having problems with the digital reading of miles togo before "e". It does not reset when gas has been put in, it takes a few turns of the key to register. I was driving my son to school one morning and as I tried to accelerate to go up a hill the car began to studder, check engine light appeared,it felt like something wasnt catching in order for the vehicle to move. When I stopped a the red light and slowly took my foot off the brake it would lunge forward. I ended up having to have it towed to the dealer. Of course the problem didnt happen when they test drove. They changed the sensor and it hasnt been symptom free. Still slow to reset gas mileage, still studders, check engine light. When it starts to studder I am able to drive under 60mph, shifting drive 1-2-3 like a stick shift. Once I try to go over 60 miles per hour (highway) can not do it without continuous studder.

: the contact stated the brake and accelerator pedal were close enough to each other to depress simultaneously. The dealership stated there was no problem with the vehicle; therefore, no repairs were made.
: the contact stated while applying pressure to the accelerator pedal, the vehicle slowly responds. The vehicle speed was not adequate with the amount of pressure applied. This problem was intermittent in nature. Although the vehicle was seen by a dealer, the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. Updated 02/28/06.
Vehicle lurches forward with the slightest pressure applied to the accelerator pedal, or, at other times, will not respond to accelerator position. These two opposite and extreme conditions happen intermittently but with enough frequency that anyone that I have allowed drive the vehicle (except the service tech!) has experienced the problem. This is not just an irritating problem but a serious safety issue. It is almost impossible to safely enter a roadway with any amount of control of the vehicle speed when either of these problems occur. Either the car lurches ahead so violently that control is impossible or in direct contrast, creeps along so slowly that the car becomes a road hazard, three days ago I was almost struck by a snowplow due to the latter problem!.
The contact was traveling on a very busy street at a low speed. He was directly behind a delivery truck. He was constantly braking and then moving slowly, the contact's foot was never on the accelerator pedal. The engine suddenly accelerated without warning and the contact hit the back of the truck at about 3 mph. The brakes were applied, but the vehicle failed to stop before hitting the truck. The front of the vehicle sustained heavy cosmetic damage and the hood was damaged as well. No police report was taken at the scene. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was seen by the service dealer for diagnostic testing, and the results were negative. Therefore, no repairs were made. The primary concern of the contact was that he saw a similar complaint filed by another vehicle owner online.
While braking vehicle accelerated. The consumer had to depress the brake pedal numerous times to decelerate. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. Vehicle was involved in a collision as a result of the vehicle accelerating when the brakes were applied.
