Air bag light has been on for over a year and a half. I have owned car since new. ,problem has occurred on several occasions. Different Hyundai dealers described different causes for problem ,without making a lasting repair. Light continues to come on. My fear is that air bag will not deploy if needed.

Vehicles has air bag light on. Air bags will not deploy if in a accident. Apparently due to a manufacture defect with the wiring harness under the front drivers seat. The dealer said this vehicle model (multiple years) has a history of this defect as most all of those manufactured do this. The vehicle has been seen many times for this repair. Time for a recall.
The airbag light stays on. I have read numerous other complaints about this. There appears to be no solution to prevent the light from coming back on, despite different attempts to fix the problem. I understand if my vehicle is involved in an accident, the airbag will not deploy, which could result in a serious injury to someone in the passenger seat.

For the last six months the "check airbag" light has been coming on. I took it to the clay Hyundai dealership in norwood. They replace the airbag wiring harness ($160). A month later the "check airbag" light came bace on. The dealer then cleared the code and told me if it continues to come back on that I would need a new main wiring harness. The "check airbag" then came back on. Then the dealer replaced the main wiring harness ($1,200). And now the "check airbag" has come bag on and the dealer is telling me that they may need to replace the side airbag in the driver's seat for an additional cost. First this is getting too expensive and second Hyundai is neglecting the safety of their drivers because, I'm told, that the airbags will not deploy in a crash if the "check airbag" is on.
Airbag warning light came on and is constantly illuminated. Hyundai dealer cannot confirm that the airbag will deploy in an accident or collision. I talked with Hyundai consumer affairs person and was told that the airbag probably will not deploy with the airbag warning light on. I was told by Hyundai consumer affairs that the airbag sensor part was not covered by warranty and I will have to pay to replace or fix the problem. I feel that this is a safety issue and should be replace by Hyundai dealer or Hyundai USA. Hyundai of America case number 3753255.
Air bag light came on my 2002 Hyundai Xg350. Contacted the dealer I bought it from, and they checked it out for me and found. . . "found code b1378 side airbag resistance too high, need to replace driver seat back. " was told this was their 3rd from this dealer that needed replaced, and found out from others that they have had the same situation. Was told due to the defect, could potentially cause the airbags to not deploy when in an accident. The light is still on as the problem has not been fixed yet. I still have the seat, and looking at replacing it soon.

The airbag light illuminated in my car shortly after purchasing it used. It was still under warranty and the dealer fixed it, saying something came unplugged under the seat. The light came on approximately a year later, when the car was no longer under warranty. I had to go to the dealer to have the problem diagnosed again and this time they said there was something wrong with a sensor in the door and they would have to take apart the door to fix it. From my understanding, the airbag light being on means that the airbags will not deploy in an accident. It is not acceptable for such an important component of the car to stop working because the driver moves his seat, etc. Every owner of a Hyundai Xg350 that I have met as the exact same problem. The light comes on and every time you take it in, it is for a different reason that is conveniently expensive to repair when your warranty is up. However if the car is under warranty, they say it is a seat issue and fix it quickly and make no concern of it.
The air bag light came on when I moved the passenger seat. Mechanics can make the light go out by resetting the codes. . . However the light comes back on after a while and always when the passenger seat is moved. There are a great many similar complaints for Hyundai Xg350 2003, 2004 and 2005, yet the company does nothing about it. Haven't they learned from gm? also where is the NHTSA . Surely they see these complaints all over the web? I'm told that the air bags will not deploy while the light is on. This is a great concern - but I can't afford to pay $1,000 every time it needs to be reset by a Hyundai dealer. Nhsta ---please put some pressure on Hyundai to issue a recall to permanently fix the problem. By the way I'm bringing my 2004 Xg350 to the dealer tomorrow to replace the subframe which is rotting - this does have a recall issued.
In a straight front-end crash of 30+ mph, all airbags failed to deploy.
The contact complained about sudden acceleration. The problem occurred when slowing down or after the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle was involved in an accident. The contact was pulling into a parking space when the vehicle accelerated and ran into a building. The only damage to the vehicle was to the front bumper cover. Upon impact, the airbags did not deploy. The consumer was wear his seat belt. No injuries were sustained. The contact took the vehicle to the dealership. They could not duplicate the problem and no repairs were done. Updated 1/11/2006 -.
1) on March 25, 2005 I was pulling into a parking space at my doctors office and when I hit the brake the car engine revved- up and the car accelerated. I went through the parking space onto a grassy area. I do not remember how I got control of the car to stop it. My wife was leaving our development and had to cross a dual highway. When she got to the center strip she hit the brake and the car accelerated. Fortunately there was no traffic in the outer lane. She immediately brought the car home and would not drive the car after that. On April 15, 2005 I was heading south on route 41. When I was about 100 feet from a truck that had stopped at a red light, I started to gradually feather the brakes to slow down. When I was approximately 10 feet from the rear of the truck and almost stopped, I applied the brake to stop but the engine revved-up and the car accelerated into the back of the truck causing a great deal of damage to the front of my car. Although the impact was considerable, the air bags did not deploy and should have. I am now concerned about driving the car if a satisfactory solution to the problems can not be founded for the acceleration problem and non-deployment of the air bags. The car is at the fort myers Hyundai dealer being repaired and investigated.
While making a left turn consumer's vehicle was struck by another vehicle at 55 mph, and the air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained back, neck and hand injuries. The consumer is still being treated for these injuries. The passenger also sustained injuries.
