2 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 06/27/2012

At 4:30 pm parked car at walmart, got out and tried to lock doors but they wouldn't lock. I locked driver door with key but wouldn't unlock with remote. All of the doors are acting like this. It's a shame that the u. S allows Nissan vehicles in this country, but when hundreds of Infiniti fx 35 owners complain about this problem they like Toyota initially did, ignore this safety issue! is someone going to have to be pulled out their unlock car and raped or killed for Nissan to recall these cars?.

3 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 02/08/2012

The door locks on my car quit working all of a sudden. This poses a serious problem when traveling with children as they could open their door. It is also a safety issue when all the doors cannot be locked when in a parking lot. This is an unacceptable problem caused by poor quality parts and/or workmanship and should be immediately recalled before someone is killed.

5 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 09/14/2011

Some time ago, the power locks stopped locking or unlocking. When it gets hot and the vehicle is in the sun for some time, the doors do not want to open. Some times it could be all the doors or just some. We had to climb over the back seats to unlock the doors because the lift gate is the only one that got unlocked. Some times we need to wait for a while pressing the remote hoping to get lucky and one door will unlock. Not even the key works to open the driver side door. It has got to the point that now we need to leave one door unlocked so that we can enter the car and hope that the alarm will deter any body other than us trying to get in. This has become a serious security problem. Searching the internet, they say that the door actuators are the culprits to this issue, but there is many Nissan/infinity owners having the same problem. All of the actuators going at the same time? hmmmm and at about $400 a pop per door? double hmmmm!!! I just hope that Nissan/infinity, do the right thing and find out the real solution to this problem. Other wise, the will be loosing a lot of costumers. Thanks. .

6 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 09/09/2011

I have a 2003 infinity Fx35, for some time I have been having trouble with all the door actuators they sometime work and some not, now they don't work at all. It started with the drivers door and like 2 months later the rest of the doors including the trunk. I had it check with an electromechanical and he told me is the door actuators that I have to replace all of them. I have been reading that this happens to all infinity Fx35 models and some others. I really think this is a very serious safety issue and something most be done about it. . . . Infinity should take care of this since is a very common malfunction in they're cars. 1 actuator going bad is one thing but all of them is another. This is a very high safety issue that needs to be take care off.

7 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 08/23/2011

Vehicle : 2005 Infiniti fx 35 37,000 miles issues with the door locks on the vehicle. According to the dealership all 5 actuators have failed at one time and this has rendered the vehicle at times with no entry access> this poses a hazard in the event of emergency personell needing access to remove occupants from vehicle. A lesser danger is the inability to insure doors are in the locked or open position. The quote for repair on this was $2800. 00 this is an unaffordable amout. . The dealer refused to help, Infiniti us customer service refused to help.

8 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2007 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 08/12/2011

Front driver's side door lock jammed -- door unable to open or unlock. Driver had to climb in and out of car from passenger side. This is a huge safety hazard especially with small child in back seat. Defective door lock randomly occurred--no damage to door. Car in great condition and still under warranty by date. We took car to Infiniti dealer for repair. They had to break the door lock mechanism to replace it which cost $760.

10 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 07/08/2011

Power door lock actuators operate intermittently. There has been several instances having the rear child door lock engaged and we could not open the rear doors from the outside because the actuators failed. Children had to exit out the front by climbing over the front seats. While at a parking garage a large vehicle parked close to the passenger side of our car and could not open doors to re-enter. Again, intermittent operation of power door lock actuators , both front and rear driver side door locks failed. We had to enter the vehicle through the rear tailgate/hatch. Took vehicle in for service and lock were operating at that time and manufacturer recommended replacing the door lock actuators. Still to this day the locks operate intermittently, and now have 115,000 miles.

11 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 07/04/2011

No events cause this problem diver's side door not unlocking and locking (actuator fail) nothing has been done to correct the problem.

12 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 06/04/2011

2003 fx 35 Infiniti passenger, driver and rear hatch door will not lock or unlock when pushing the lock button. Have to manually reach to open. Major saftey issue having children in the car.

13 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

The rear latch door lock on my 2004 Infiniti Fx35 has suddenly become inoperable. I discovered this after I placed shopping items in the rear compartment and drove. I noticed the rear door was not closed after driving about a mile and had to pull over to attempt to close it. When I tried it would not close and the rear door lock compartment appeared to be stuck and keeping the door from closing. Once I manually manipulated the lock on the bottom of the latch doot to open it, I closed the door and the door now will not unlock. After research I discovered this was a Nissan part called the rear door actuator that stopped working. According to my internet research this is a very common and costly problem for Nissan owners and sometimes occurs with multiple passenger doors for some owners. I am grateful I did not have my dog in the rear part of my vehicle as he likely would have jumped out of the open door while in traffic. Also, Nissan does not place key entry locks on these doors so now the only way to open it is to crawl into the back of the truck and unlock the emergency trunk lock. I have no other options than to get this repaired for what the dealer quoted at $560. It is concerning that nothing has been done with such a common problem. Please do something as I believe this to be an expensive and substantial safety issue.

14 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 05/10/2011

I have a 2005 Infiniti fx 35. It only has 62,000 miles on it and every one of the door lock actuators have failed. I feel its a safety issue, because you cannot get in the vehicle from the outside except for the drivers side door with the key. The other doors do not have a key to gain access so you have to go through the inside of the vehicle to manually unlock it. Each door has to be manually unlocked or unlocked from the inside. I had to replace each door actuator which range from $270 dollars to over $300 not including labor. It seems that there is some type of defect going on with these actuators for them all to go bad. Infiniti's response was that it's fairly common with those models.

15 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 03/09/2011

I have a 2005 Infiniti Fx35. The automatic door locks on all four doors have failed to function properly. I have contacted the dealer, and even the manufacturer, and neither offered to make things right. Instead, they both said I was responsible to pay for the repairs for their obviously malfunctioning equipment. This simply is not equitable.

16 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

Have a 2003 Infiniti Fx35, and the electronic locks now do not fully lock or unlock and the unlock message appear on the screen while driving (the work when they want). First one door went out now the other. My sense is that a small child or elderly person in the back could be in serious danger if there were an immediate need for them to be evacuated. With only one manual lock for the entire vehicle (on the driver's door) a person would have to go across the car to manually unlock the passenger side rear door in an emergency (in addition to reaching behind the driver's seat for the driver's side rear door). Since I see this as a significant safety issue, I believe NHTSA should investigate and order an appropriate recall. If you peruse various message boards on the web, you will see that this is a rather significant issue associated with many Nissan products (the sister murano is also so afflicted).

17 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 02/24/2011

I own a 2004 Infiniti Fx35 and suffer from what seems to be a common safety problem among other owners: the lock on one of my doors does not lock or unlock with the remote or the driver's side lock button! I must manually push the lock forward to lock it and back to unlock it. This started happening several years ago but only every once and a while, especially on hot days. Now it is everyday no matter what the weather. Many times I have locked my car with the remote, only to have my husband open the back door to get something and tell me that I didn't lock the car again. Thank goodness it has been my husband, myself, or other family member, and not a thief entering my car! my most important concern is now the safety of my 18 month old daughter. I always lock the doors when I get in the car to ensure that no one can simply walk up and open the car doors. Because of the faulty lock, the back passenger door never locks, thus leaving my daughter (who is in the backseat in her car seat) vulnerable. To date, no one has entered my vehicle unlawfully, thank god! but I feel that this is an extremely serious issue that must be addressed by Nissan and Infiniti. I also have problems with my side view mirrors and the bubbling of the dash, especially around the vents. However, the problem with my door lock takes priority, and from what I have read online, it seems only a matter of time before it happens to all of my doors! I informed the dealership where I purchased my vehicle and they told me that they would first have to do a diagnostic test to find the problem which would cost me $140. I would think that after all of the complaints about the 2004 door locks, they would know the problem. A safety recall must be put into effect to end this. I urge anyone who has the ability to remedy this obvious safety issue to do so as soon as possible before someone is unnecessarily injured or tragically harmed!.

18 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 10/19/2010

I own a 2005 Infiniti Fx35. Within this last year, I have had problem with all 4 locking mechanisms including the rear hatch of my vehicle. This first began with the rt rear passenger side and has now affected the remainder of the door locks. The failure is that when the door lock button fails to either lock and or unlock any of the doors. This is a constant problem. When the door lock button is depressed there is a locking sound heard, but the action doesn't take place. When disarming the alarm with the key fob, and entering my vehicle I find it does not open my driver door. I must use the key to unlock the door. When manually attempting to lock the vehicle from the interior the door actuators fail to lock, thus I must manually lock each door. Currently there is no recall by Infiniti for this type of problem. It will cost upward of 1,000 to fix. This has not been the only problem. 1 month ago, the warning light on the airbag restraint system turned on and has been flashing. I do not know if this I will affect the deployment of the airbags in case of an accident. Researching and speaking to mechanics, the faulty part may be the body control module. As this part controls the signals sent to all door lock actuators as well as the airbag restraint system. My vehicle being out of warranty, Infiniti will not fix this issue and instead intends to charge for repairs. This should not be charged by them and should be stated as a recall item of the bcm, since it is unlikely that all four locks would fail at the same time. My biggest safety concern is for the airbag system, as I do not know if its useless in case of an accident. As for the locks failing, it is a great safety issue, as anyone could be a victim of a carjacking, and automatic locks are essential for personal safety. I live near the border and events like this are far too common. I would expect a basic item on a luxury vehicle to perform to its standards, as I would expect this company to honor repairs.

19 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 09/25/2010

I have 2004 Fx35with 52,000 miles , my door actuators went bad so I'm unable to lock or unlock my doors, and if it locks then I cant get out of the vehicle until I try another door or something , it s a safety issue . North America Infiniti doesn't want to help with this issue at all. . . .

20 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 09/02/2010

3 doors on my 2004 Fx35 will not open from inside or outside-this is a safety issue. First week in sept I tried to open back door to retrieve my books, etc and the door would not open. I leaned in from driver side and noticed door was unlocked so I tried to open from the inside-it would not open,. My auto has only 46,000 miles on it. I took to dealer and he said he had never seen this happen before. He kept the car for 3 days and said it took them all day to open the 2 back doors. He said all for on my acculatos(something like that) failed and they replaced them at charge or over $ 2000. 00. This is a serious flaw in the auto if the doors can not be opened from the inside or outside. What if I had been in an accident and the doors could not be opened? I firmly believe this is a problem that should be addressed by the mfg and I should not have had to pay over $ 2000. 00 for something that I did not cause. Rarely as anyone ever rode in my back seats as usually I am a lone rider or driver in the Infiniti.

21 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 08/13/2010

I am a 2004 inifiniti Fx35 owner. I had a right front passenger door lock actuator become inoperable, so had it replaced about 3 years ago. And recently, the driver's side door lock actuator failed, replaced it for a cost of over $500. $303 for the part alone and $216 for the labor. I know the same part costs about $35 at an Infiniti service in other countries. I searched on the web to see if anyone else has a same problem as me and was surprised to find that there are a number of people, both Nissan and Infiniti owners, have had door lock actuators all around the car (including the rear hatch) fail on them. I feel that I have been unjustly charged for this part and labor as I have seen the same part get replaced at an overseas Infiniti service myself recently for a cost of $50 with $35 of it being the part price. Why is it almost 10 times more expensive here? I am willing to go any distance to see Nissan and Infiniti fix this problem at their own cost without ripping their consumers off.

22 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 07/24/2010

The contact owns a 2005 Infiniti Fx35. The contact stated that the front passenger, driver side passenger and rear hatch door locks failed. The electronic lock would not unlock and the contact had to manually unlock them. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle had not been inspected by a dealer nor had it been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

23 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 07/01/2010

I bought my vehicle used (2003 fx 35) in 2010 and have experienced what seems to be some very common complaints associated with the vehicle . Defects that the local dealers (mcallen , texas) have refused to address. 1) cracked dash. Several large cracks running the length of the dashes. 2) faulty car lock actuators. This seems absolutely ridiculous that the problems can be so prevalent (check the web) , but yet Nissan fails to take responsibility for it. I can understand the dash not being a hazard , however, the locks can be. I cant even open my hatch, and this is suppose to be a luxury vehicle?.

24 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 06/25/2010

My 2004 infinity Fx35 door locks do not work I have an 8 month old baby that if I wouldn't have walked out from the driver side he would have been stuck in the car the remote doesn't lock them or unlock them neither does the inside switch also the gas lid will not unlock to be able to pump gas this is dangerous and infinity does not want to cover under warranty this is a serious issue and no one is doing anything to fix it.

25 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

My 2004 infinity fx 35 door actuator went out all four of them, this car is keyless entry. I have a child and it seem dangerous to use this car for our family anymore. Sometime I'm afraid to lock it and worried if a fire or emergency happened ,I couldn't get out of the car. Or I couldn't open the door to get the child out. This is very bad and must be corrected by infinity.

26 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 05/28/2010

Vehicle: 2004 inifiniti Fx35 safety description: all four (4) door locks failed simultaneously. Unable to exit car until door locks were unlocked manually. Safety issue: during an accident and/or vehicle fire, passengers will not be able to exit vehicle in a timely manner or at all. Significant injury or death could occur.

27 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 05/15/2010

2004 Infiniti Fx35 automatic door lock actuators failing to unlock or lock the doors. This started happening a few weeks ago with the rear cargo door failing to unlock. Now all of the doors fail to lock and unlock intermittently. This is a safety issue. I have not taken any action yet but if this keeps up I will be forced to spend nearly $2500 to have the actuators replaced.

28 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 03/21/2010

This is for a defect: I own a 2004 Infiniti Fx35 and my wife and I are about to have our first child, so we purchased a child safety seat that includes latch connectors (since the Infiniti lists as having them, and since by law all vehicles were to include them since 2002). Went to install the child seat and could not get to, or reach, the latch connectors. Started examining around the seats to figure out what was wrong and quickly discovered that the latch connectors are installed incorrectly on my Infiniti, they seem to be installed up-side-down making them a good two inches below the seat level (when they should be flush with the seat to properly align and secure the child seat). When the back seats are laid flat you are able to access the rear and underside of the seats, there you can see where the latch connectors are bolted to the frame of the car, and this is where you can see that they are upside down making them impossible to reach through the seat. I've also checked out a kia, Honda and a Ford, and in all those cases simply reaching between the lower-seat and the seat-back you can very easily find the latch connector and it is indeed flush with the seat, the Infiniti's is a good 2 inches below that height. I went to the dealership and the service department didn't even know what the latch system was (at least that is what they said). Not sure if it is all Fx35's or even all Infiniti's, but if you do manage to attach the child safety seat to the latch connectors, it will not be in the proper alignment and could very easily fail risking the child.

29 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 02/15/2010

The rear hatch mechanism on my Infiniti Fx35 failed and made the vehicle completely accessible to anyone who walked by. The dealer is charging $450 to repair it, but when I check the internet, it appears to be a common problem. This is suspicious and should likely be a recall due to the safety of the vehicle being compromised. Items may fall out of the cargo area with this problem and cause accidents on the road.

30 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 02/05/2010

Power door wont unlock or lock on passenger side. Dealer quoted $500 for parts/labor.

31 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

My door locks on my 2005 Infiniti fx 35 work sporadically. It started with the left front door and is now affecting the right front and well as the rear hatch. It is hit or miss with the issue on the rear hatch, but for the front doors I must manually lock and unlock the doors.

32 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 12/07/2009

1. Having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. When locking the doors it's imperative nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. If anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. If the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. 2. Nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. It's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. Remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. The drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery. This failure is an intermittent of operation. Sometimes the doors lock ok, other times they don't. In addition, sometimes the doors unlock ok, other times they don't. 3. In emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. Since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. And the murano's design is such that it's not easy to comprehend if it's not your car, for instance a rental car. I can easily understand how some people would be confused how unlock a door using the manual level in an emergency when they virtually have no experience with it. In emergencies every second counts. The locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. Some people who cannot afford the $1600 to have all the solenoids replaced (as quoted by dealers) will forgo getting them fixed, putting their family members at risk with the above mishap examples. This shouldn't be, Nissan should recall them. It's only a matter of time till someone gets robbed, hurt or killed from a malfunctioning door lock.

Door locks on my 2004 infinity Fx35 will not open from the outside. I feel that this is a hugh safety issue and infinity does not want to fix this problem, unless I cough up hundreds of dollars! I have been dealing with this issue for over a year now.

35 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 09/16/2009

My daughter drove home from college and attempted to open the driver door. It was locked and would not open from the inside or the outside. If face none of the doors would open from inside or outside. She rolled town the window and climbed out. We took the auto to the dealer and they said that they had seen this before. . I thought it was a factory defect but alas $ 2,600 dollars later we learned that we must pay for the defect. I contacted Infiniti several times and they refused to acknowledge that this was a problem. This could have been a very dangerous situation in case of an accident, etc because you could not exit the auto nor could anyone else open the doors.
