36 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 09/01/2009

Some or all door locks fail to function, with no pattern of which door or doors will do it next. This only happens when it is hot enough outside (approx 85 degrees and up) to make it hot inside the vehicle. This problem is all over the internet, with Nissan's and Infiniti's and approximate years 2003 through 2007. The posts that I have read date back to 2007.

37 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 07/19/2009

Malfunctioning door lock on Infiniti Fx35 1. Having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. When locking the doors it's imperative nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. If anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. If the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. 2. Infiniti in knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. It's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. Remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. The drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery. This failure is an intermittent of operation. Sometimes the doors lock ok, other times they don't. In addition, sometimes the doors unlock ok, other times they don't. 3. In emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. Since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. And the design is such that it's not easy to comprehend if it's not your car, for instance a rental car. I can easily understand how some people would be confused how unlock a door using the manual level in an emergency when they virtually have no experience with it. In emergencies every second counts. The locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. Some people who cannot afford the $1600 to have all the solenoids replaced (as quoted by dealers) will forgo getting them fixed, putting their family members at risk with the above mishap examples. This shouldn't be, Infiniti should recall them.

38 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 07/15/2009

I bought my car at 52,000 miles and had a minimal warranty still in place. I noticed that a few months after the purchase date my car locks started acting up. Unfortunately, by the time I brought it to the dealer the warranty was up. . . Stupid me! they wouldn't lock sometimes, or unlock when using the remote, or manually pressing the buttons not he doors. They would almost get stuck, because I could here a sound, but they weren't moving back and fourth. Several times I would load groceries into my trunk, and upon getting home the hatch would not reopen. It appears as if there is a short or glitch somewhere along the line, however several mechanics say it sounds like all of the actuators are going bad on me. Each door actuator is over $250 a piece, and the hatch is over $400. It is really a shame, because I love road trips, and I am always hesitant to use my trunk because there isn't any other way of opening the hatch. I'm really irate that upon investigating online I am one of the many people having this problem. . . . Why isn't this expensive problem being addressed? it isn't like we aren't paying top dollar for a luxury car! its a shame because otherwise I am happy with my car for the most part. My driver side window motor is lazy too, but I have had that happen in other cars too. . .

42 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 02/15/2009

My 2004 Infiniti fx 35 door lock actuator for the passenger and rear door hatch will not open unless pressed several times and occurs all the time and I consider it a safety issue in a life or death situation, the dealership will fix the problem but at a cost to me of over 300. 00 us dollars which is high price to pay when at this point in time economically is very difficult so I plead with NHTSA to consider it a recall because I am sure that I am not the only person with this problem.

44 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

Have a 2003 Infiniti Fx35, and the electronic locks now do not fully lock or unlock the rear doors. First one door went out now the other. My sense is that a small child or elderly person in the back could be in serious danger if there were an immediate need for them to be evacuated. With only one manual lock for the entire vehicle (on the driver's door) a person would have to go across the car to manually unlock the passenger side rear door in an emergency (in addition to reaching behind the driver's seat for the driver's side rear door). Since I see this as a significant safety issue, I believe NHTSA should investigate and order an appropriate recall. If you peruse various message boards on the web, you will see that this is a rather significant issue associated with many Nissan products (the sister murano is also so afflicted).

45 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2003 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 07/15/2007

Doors will not lock or unlock along with gasdoor lock. Dealership says its an actuator problem, they all need to be replaced at a cost of nearly $500 per lock times 6 locks. (4 doors, rear hatch and gasdoor) safety issue as sometimes I cannot get out of the driver side door.

46 Latches/locks/linkage problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 04/14/2006

Automatic door locks will and will not sporadically open the door locks. My wife drives alone and enters her car in a dark undercover parkade for employment daily. When leaving it is a coin toss as to whether the door lock actuator will or will not unlock the door. Upon taking it to the local herrin gear dealership they gladly fixed the problem for $600. 00 per door, I only did one first as I do not believe in throwing money in a pit and hoping that it will work. . After further investigation through speaking with other Infiniti owners locally and looking at the different Infiniti blog sites the number of people with the same problem is endless and probably will total the entire group of people who purchased a Nissan murano or a high end car like me the Infiniti Fx35 full load package and you have repeat problems like this. This is a well known factory problem and Nissan America/Infiniti America needs to recall this product for a complete actuator replacement. I do not want to get the call from the police that my wife has been raped or beaten or purse stolen while trying to get the actuator to work. The design team took the keyhole away from the passenger side of the car and the actuator will not open either the front or back door, where does she run to??????this is serious she works in s a multilevel parkade and when she finishes work she often has to walk to her car and load up the passenger side with important documents and the door won't open. I just spent 600$ to have the r-f door done to see if that is the be-all fix all before I go out and spend another 1800$. This should be a safety recall with all of the 100's of complaints logged on the websites and all of the dealership complaints. I would have rather they spend the money to fix a safety hazard such as the locks rather than the dashboard that was just replaced or the 4 light systems front and rear.
