Brake Light Problems of Infiniti G35 - part 2

The contact owns a 2004 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that the third brake light failed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis where the contact was informed that the brake light assembly would need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 42,000.

The third brake light on the rear window deck fails to work intermittently creating a situation where vehicles following may not realize that our vehicle is braking. This creates a concern for my safety as well as my childrens safety. This is a very frequent problem with Infiniti vehicles of this make but Infiniti will not acknowledge the problem.

My third brake light has gone out! flickers and could cause an unwanted accident!.

The 3rd brake light (the one in the back windshield) comes on and off intermittently. It will go out while im braking or sometimes its really dim. I don't know what the issue is. I am constantly paranoid about the brake lights since that is the only one I can actually see while driving. I catch myself braking if I pass a sign so I can see the reflection to verify that the other brake lights are working. It is a safety issue and it worries me. I don't have $$ to repair something that sometimes works and no one seems to know what the issue is. If it works sometimes, its not a fuse and I don't think its electrical b/c there is no pattern/rhythm to when the brake light may go out. With electric, it's either connected or its not. It doesn't come on from time to time. If this is a known error, according to several websites, then Infiniti should recall the brake light and fix it. Infiniti is a luxury vehicle and having an intermittent brake light is not something that an owner should have to contend with. That is not a maintenance or mechanical repair. It sounds like a faulty system.

Third brake light fails to illuminate. Research on the internet reveals that this is a widely-known defect in this and similar models, and that Infiniti (Nissan) has been made aware of it but has taken no action to address it. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this situation in the interests of keeping owners of these vehicles and other motorists safe.

I drive a 2005 Infiniti G35 sedan. My 3rd brake light has now been off and on for about 3 weeks now. I have read that many other people who drive the same car as me are having the same problem and have addresses the issue to you. I am very shocked that something has not been done yet. I drive in rush hour traffic most of the day and fear that since my brake light does not come on I will get hit. It seems that this is a technical issue. It is very frustrating to know I could be in a fatal accident just because of a light not working. I have notified Nissan and Infiniti but have not heard back.

To date, I have not suffered any direct consequences, but I am now concerned I run a higher risk of being rear ended by another driver. Even though this appears to effect a large majority of G35 owners, Infiniti will not repair this issue because my car is out of warranty. Repair cost is nearly $500. 00, but Infiniti has not updated the part, so I fear another failure would be imminent. However, for personal safety I have no choice.

Third brake light isn't working 100%, it only turns on the first few minutes I use my brake pedal. After awhile, when the brake pedal is used, the 3rd brake light no longer turns on. This has always happened ever since I've received the car and I have never seen it operating as a safe car would have it operating. Many of my other fellow Infiniti G35 owners have this problem also. We would like Infiniti to put out a recall and have it fixed to increase the automobile operators safety, and to also abide by the law with an operating 3rd brake light.

3rd brake light was out causing failed state inspection. Once I researched the problem, it was learned that many similar vehicles had the same issue. I was not aware of the issue since the light is behind the rear glass of the vehicle, so I do not know how long I was driving around without a rear brake light causing a safety hazard.

Rear window brake light on 03-04 Infiniti G35 sedan spontaneously fails. It will work 10% of the time, but most of the time, the light does not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed. To replace the bulb, owners have to remove the entire backseat and rear panel. Infiniti says that they will replace the part at an absurd cost that does not justify the price of the part or labor.

Rear window brake light malfunction, this is a known and repeatable issue with many G35 sedans years 2003-2006. The rear window brake light stops working intermittently, or works in varying degrees of brightness, with no consistency, rhyme or reason. Unable to get the light to remain on consistently, and given the feedback in online forums, etc - this is an apparent problem with the light installation, etc.

Center led brake light fails. This almost caused 3 close call rear end accidents. I saw cars came close to hitting my car via rear view mirror. I went online and saw many complains of the same problem in regard to the Infiniti G35, the 03-05 models.

The third brake light on my car works intermittently. This is the brake light that resides on the rear accessory package on the inside of the cars along with the speakers. The lights are not replaceable in this unit because they are led and have notice many other G35 with the same problem and its an outrageous 125 dollar replacement for something that should last indefinitely since they are leds.

Infiniti G35 with third brake light failure. Third brake is an assembly made of led's and technically do not burn out and last past the life of the vehicle. Dealership refuses to take responsibility as a manufacturer defect. The failure happen 11/11/2010 and third brake light does not work anymore. Nothing has been done to replace failed assembly but looking for parts.

Third brake light is out and will not work on this vehicle. The old part is still available.
