Infiniti G37 owners have reported 30 problems related to air bag not deploy (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Upon starting the 2009 G37 with just over 73k miles on it, the airbag light began flashing. The following week, on December 28, 2020, I took the car to sewell Infiniti of ft. Worth to have the problem diagnosed. The fault code "b1018 occupant sensor unit fail" was found. The only remedy is to replace the passenger seat lower cushion assembly for $6575. 89. The upshot is the car is unsafe to drive with a person in the passenger seat because the airbags will not deploy.

When driving on a city street the passenger air bag light came on. Took the car to sandy sansing Nissan in foley, al. Was told that the air bag sensor was faulty. After researching this it seems that this problem is common among g class vehicles. Infinity had a recall on the occupant classification system "OCS" manufactured by continental automotive systems in which a varistor in the OCS control unit may have been manufactured out of specifications. Under certain conditions, this could interrupt the signal between the OCS and the airbag control unit, causing the passenger airbag to be suppressed in an accident. The recall began Nov. 4, 2008. If this recall was in 2008 why is infinity still having this problem in 2011? what corrective action did infinity take to solve and keep the passenger safe in the event of an accident? if corrective action was not taken this could result in the passenger airbag being suppressed which could fail to provide adequate protection in the event of a crash. I ask that infinity test the signal between the OCS and acu using a special tool to check that it is functioning as designed. If necessary the seat cushion (containing the OCS hardware) will be replaced with a new one manufactured to specifications. I reference this to recall number 08v521000 (passenger airbag may not deploy). I have contacted infinity and have filed a complaint with infinity but have not received a response for corrective action from them. This is an update to dot auto safety, reference # 11383307.
Front passenger seat airbag weight sensor failure. Airbag will not deploy due to sensor failure. Replacement part is an entire seat and worth approximately the value of the car. 67k miles on the vehicle, started while parked. This should be a recall.
I turned on my car in my driveway one day and the airbag light was on. It turns out that the passenger seat sensor has gone bad in my car. The car has been taken care of and has 50,000 miles. This seems to be a very common and expensive issue and should be a recall. Not to mention that if you're in an accident and have a passenger sitting in your car, their airbags will not deploy resulting in serious injury.
My 2010 Infiniti G37 convertible's airbag light started flashing a month or so ago. I recently brought the vehicle in for service and they charged me $149 to inform me that the passenger airbag unit in the seat had a bad sensor/relay and the cost to replace it is $7,500. You cannot just replace the relay, but rather have to replace the entire bottom of the seat unit. In most other cars, it is a few hundred dollar fix and only requires replacing the sensor/relay. I called Infiniti consumer affairs and informed them of this and they said there are no recalls on their airbag units and that nothing could be done about this issue, other than paying $7,500 to replace the unit. The part number is "87300-jj84a - cushion". This is the second Infiniti vehicle that I have had issues with the airbags. I had a 2008 Infiniti g35 sedan which was in an accident where a car hit me from behind at 40-50 miles per hour (I was stopped) and the airbags did not deploy. I will file a separate complaint regarding this vehicle. Are there any recalls on Infiniti airbags?.

Passenger seat airbag sensor has failed, so the airbag will not deploy. Dash warning light remains illuminated while in operation. Spoke to Infiniti and was told to take to a dealer for diagnostics and they confirmed no recall currently. Spoke to the local Infiniti dealer who states they must diagnose the problem and charge for the service. Seat sensor has failed and repair includes the replacement of the passenger seat, which costs around $9k. The current trade in value of the car is $5-8k. No one can safely ride in the passenger seat of this vehicle. This safety issue should be recalled by Infiniti.
Air bag warning light flashing. Took to dealer for diagnosis. Service advisor stated faulty passenger sensor, cost to repair $7,388. 00 + tax and service fees. Because of faulty sensor, air bag will not deploy in an accident. Repair cost unreasonable for required safety feature.

My air bag light has been flashing the last few months I took it to a shop to see if the could scan it to see what the problem was. Well it happens to be the occupancy seat sensor, and Infiniti doess not sell just that part, they want you to buy the whole lower part of the seat, which comes to little over 5 thousand dollars??!! seriously, now that this issue is on the table anyone with the same issue get into a serious wreck and the airbags do not deploy as they should that could cause serious injury or even death. Please get this recalled.
Tl the contact owns a 2009 Infiniti G37. While driving 65 mph, the passenger side air bag warning indicator illuminated. The owner's manual stated that in the event of a crash, the air bag may not deploy. Infiniti of nashua (located at 11 marmon dr, nashua, nh 03060, (603) 891-1400) was contacted by phone and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle should be taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, but he declined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
Passenger occupant airbag/seat sensor faulty. Upon doing research find Infiniti is charging over $6000. 00 for replacement. This directly affects passenger safety as airbag will not deploy with a bad sensor. Consumers cannot afford this cost.
The airbag sensor in the front passenger seat has failed, causing the passenger airbag light to illuminate and possibly disable the passenger airbag. This may cause the passenger airbag to not deploy in the event of a crash. The light illuminated upon startup. The car has approximately 40,000 miles driven.
Tl the contact owned a 2013 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that the vehicle was rear ended while at a stop light, causing the contact to crash into another vehicle. The air bag failed to deploy. The contact sustained a concussion, and injuries to the lower back, left rotator cup, and left arm that required medical attention. The other driver was also injured and required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a tow lot. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The contact also stated that she was involved in a crash on three different occasions. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. The VIN was not available.
Passenger occupancy sensor is knows to fail on these cars, and the airbag will not deploy because the computer doesnt know if anyone is sitting in the seat. The repair costs 60-80% of vehicle's value, and not feasible for any sane individual to pay for this faulty sensor. Nissan/ Infiniti fail to take responsibility for this faulty sensor and will not replace under safety recall. This is unacceptable.
The airbag light started blinking. I took it into the dealership and they said there was an issue with the passenger seat occupancy sensor; they need to replace the entire passenger seat. They said the airbags will not deploy at this time and total cost of repairs will be approx $8000. I was told this was "just something that happens" but when I searched online hundreds of people have the same complaint! this isn't like replacing brakes that have worn down; I've never used the airbags. And unless I pay $8k for a known malfunction, they won't deploy in an accident and the vehicle has lost all resale/trade-in value.
Air bag warning light would not go off. Took it to a dealership and was told the problem is "occupancy sensor unit failure". Need to replace the occupancy sensor and control unit, at a cost of $6,888. I am appalled that Infiniti does not have a recall concerning this safety issue!! if an accident occurs, the airbags will not deploy. Infiniti is supposed to be a high quality car. So disappointing!.
I brought in my 2012 for maintenance at an Infiniti service dealer. I received a "new" battery as I was told the battery needed replacement soon. Come to find out, the "new" battery was actually a faulty component and my car would not start. I brought it in for diagnostics and they said nothing was wrong. I told them that it must be the battery since I never had that issue before. The battery issue continued and I would have to jump my car off. The day I had to bring it back to Infiniti, I had to jump off the car and right after I did, the airbag light began flashing and codes indicated a faulty diagnosis sensor unit for the airbag. They then did their diagnostics again and determined that the battery itself was the problem in the car-starting issue, yet the Infiniti bag light continued to blink. The dealer said the cost would be $1600 to replace the sensor/control unit. The airbag has never been deployed and I never had issues until the battery replacement with a faulty battery and thus creating the need to jump start the vehicle. The light came on right after a jump start. I never saw the light before that.

Airbag light flashing. Infiniti dealership advised sensor not working. Quoted $9,700 to repair. Called Infiniti consumer affairs, I tried to talk about the safety issues. They just continued to say "not under warranty and no financial assistance available from Infiniti ". Infiniti could care less about safety. I also had the same model a year ago except 2011. My 16 year old was involved in an accident in this car. It was totaled. Airbags did not deploy. Thank goodness he was ok.
Nissan/Infiniti safety issue the airbag light is blinking - sewell Infiniti mentioned that it was the occupant detection sensor and it would be roughly 6000 to fix. This is an insane amount for a deadly issue as my airbags will not deploy if I am in an accident. A google search shows a trend of this problem occurring with the G37, and it needs to be a recall. Nissan/Infiniti have several other models that have been recalled for the exact same problem - this is a defect from the manufacturer they are trying to sweep under the rug on a car with under 60,000 miles. I bought the car with 36,000 miles and have not had a single issue up until now.
The passenger air bag light illuminates (meaning the air bag will not deploy) when a full size adult is sitting in the passenger seat. The dealership states that the air bag light should illuminate on partial weight applied to the seat bottom. Dealership states that they tested by watching the airbag status in data monitor and found airbag activates when sitting in the seat properly and turns off when getting out of the seat. However light does not illuminate in this case. According to the dealership the system is working properly. This occurs when the vehicle is underway at any speed with adult passenger and seat belts fastened. When a full size adult (175 to 200 lbs. Is sitting in the passenger seat the air bag illuminates which contradicts the dealerships findings. Dealership is lokey Infiniti of clearwater, FL who examined the system on 8-18-2018.
The air bag warning light is blinking and the passenger seat air bag light does not go off when the seat is occupied. I took the car to an Infiniti dealer in dayton, ohio and was told the fix to correct this problem was over $7000. Feel this is like a rans viable options and therefore can charge whatever they can. This has destroyed the resale value of my car and put any passengers at risk of the air bag not deploying. If you go on the internet you can see that there are many customers complaining about the same issue. I think Infiniti has no real desire to correct this situation. They leave the owner in a no win situation - either play the ransom or put loved ones at risk. I wonder how many Infiniti"s are on the road today without an operative passenger air bag. When the light started blinking I was driving from south carolina to ohio. I first noticed the blinking light on Sunday may 27, 2018.
Airbag warning light blinking. Per dealer this is caused by a faulty occupant sensor causing the airbag to not deploy. Dealer states part is 4400. 00 and may not be available plus the cost to install could be near 2000 total around 6400. 00. I would think that their airbag sensor would last longer than 9 years and the burden of such a high cost seems like price gouging not to mention they are not sure if part is readily available. Very dangerous situation for someone who paid good money for a vehicle that can not be safely driven.
Car battery drained while car was unoccupied (in a garage) for two weeks. After jumping car operated as normal except for airbag light. Infiniti dealer informed me that the airbag diagnostic unit had failed and airbags would not deploy until a $1500 repair was done. Dealer noted that the unit likely failed when the battery was at low power or when jumping (jumped car exactly according to owner's manual).
The vehicle was involved in an accident where another car hit the front of the vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy.
Takata recall the passanger air bag light is on will not deploy airbag. Recalls was made but not for the VIN of the Infiniti G37 coupe 2008. I called and made an appointment with Infiniti and they are still saying their is no recall for the coupe model only the sedan.

The flashing airbag light on the dash is a constant event. This airbag light flashes indicating that the passenger airbag is off. This occurs all the time, whether there is a passenger in the front seat or not, and regardless of any passenger weight or height. The onboard diagnostics, based on the flashing pattern on the console, indicate a problem with the OCS (occupant classification system). Because of this issue, the passenger airbag will not deploy, creating a significant passenger safety hazard. The light flashes all of the time the vehicles has the power on, stopped or moving. Nissan has issued a recall for over a million vehicles globally for similar issues. However, my vehicle isn't included in this recall, even though there have been multiple recalls on older model g35/g37 and newer vehicles with the exact same issue. Therefore, my 2009 Infiniti G37 should be included in this recall as well. I'm very concerned about this, because this is a huge safety issue!.
The airbag light is blinking. I took the car to Infiniti and I'm told that the there is a failure code b1018 stored due to internal failure of occupant airbag detection sensor. They are charging $6,653 to replace this part. $348 is labor and the remainder is the part cost. The car has 47,800 miles and is out of warranty by 3 months. Infiniti USA told me that the air bag would not deploy on the passenger side and that I should replace it immediately as it is a safety hazard for passengers which are mainly my children. Due to the fact that this part is priced so far out of reach for most normal consumers, I asked Infiniti USA for some consideration as this is my only car. They declined any type of assistance in replacing the part. In other words, its dangerous enough for me to pay almost $7000 to replace it but not dangerous enough for them to help fix it. I was told at the dealership that they are seeing this sensor issue more and more on cars 3-4 years old and that they are not making them like this anymore.
I was in a parking lot. I backed out when I started to shift into drive the car accelerated and started to spin in circles. The steering wheel locked. I was not in control of the car and nothing would worked in the car. I couldn't shift gears so I shoved it into park. The car finally stopped but not before it hit an island causing $7822 in damages to the rear of the car. The air bags did not deploy. I was quite shaken up but had no serious injury. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was contacted at the local and regional levels. They had someone look at the vehicle but after 7 weeks they still have not contacted me with their findings. I am not driving the vehicle and I have not had it repaired. I fear that if I have it repaired and I sell the vehicle, it is an unsafe car and someone else will get hurt. I have found several reports of similar occurrences on the internet.
Passenger air bag light would light up (meaning air bag will not deploy) when my wife (117 lbs) was seated on the front passenger seat. This was also happening on my 2010 Nissan frontier pro 4x truck with leather seats. Nissan dealer could not fix it. They were blaming my wife. This is a safety issue! please help. Thank you!.
The contact owns a 2010 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that while at a stop, the vehicle independently accelerated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer multiple times who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The contact was unsure what part needed to be replaced. In addition, while at a stop with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle independently accelerated. As a result, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and sent a specialist to inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was 45,000.
