2 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/06/2025

On August 6, 2025, I purchased a 2013 Infiniti G37 from auto quality corp. The total amount paid was $4,700 with a pending balance of $1000. I was given the car turned on and was not present when the car was turned on. Upon leaving the dealership and arriving to my destination, I turned off the car. Once I was ready to get back on the road, the car failed to turn on again. The vehicle is failing to start and is now inoperable. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle due to the major concerns that are showing up. The vehicle is not functional. The car stopped working entirely within the same day of purchase, and I am now left with a non-operational vehicle. The odometer has discrepancies. The bill of sale shows 82,521 miles, but this does not match the information in the vehicle history reports. Also, I was not made of aware, until I signed the bill of sale, that the airbags checkbox is marked as unknown. This raises serious safety concerns, especially since I suspect the vehicle may not even be equipped with functioning airbags. The dealer also refuses to cooperate. I contacted them the same day I was sold the vehicle and did not answer the phone calls. I had to get a ride and go physically to the office to state my complaint. I want to return the car and request a full refund due to safety and misrepresentation issues. However, they refused to accept a return or provide any refund. The vehicle was sold "as-is" but I know the sale involved fraud and omitted critical safety information that would have affected my decision to purchase. I am requesting that your office investigate this dealer for potential violations of florida law regarding vehicle sales, odometer fraud, and failure to disclose critical safety information.

3 Air Bag problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 04/30/2025

My passenger airbag light is on and when I reported it to Infiniti, they told me it was the airbag sensor in the seat and that the entire seat would need to be replaced for a cost of over $2000. 00. I understand there was a previous recall for the previous years, but not for 2010 models. In speaking with other Infiniti owners, I understand this is a common issue with the G37. Why has there not been a recall issued?.

4 Air Bag problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/16/2025

According to campaign p8243, ref itb08-045e, nthtsa # 08-521, my 2008 Infiniti G37 has a warning blinking light for the passenger airbag. I contacted the national consumer affairs dept of Infiniti and they said that my VIN # did not indicate it has a recall. I was quoted $5000 to replace the seat by other mechanical shops, but my vehicle is not worth that anymore. Please advise. Thank you.

6 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 10/26/2024

I purchased this vehicle, 2012 Infiniti g 37xs in September 2023. The vehicle was basically brand new with less than 2200 miles on it and I have driven it very little up to that point, October 2024, as it is not my primary vehicle. Around [xxx], I believe it was around 8100 miles and change on the vehicle, a warning light came on my dash regarding my passenger airbag. Since that date, I have worked with plaza Infiniti in creve coeur, who has looked at the vehicle a few times and identified that there is no part replacement other than oem that can fix this issue. However, the part has been discontinued. Today, I reached out to Infiniti directly, and with a sad heart, they refuse to even listen to me. Now, I have a vehicle that has a safety issue and no way to fix it. The part number 87300–1nl6a, is the lower seat assembly for the passenger side of my 2012 Infiniti g 37xs. This part also has the occupant sensor which is directly affecting the airbag. The sensor is not replaceable separately of the lower seat assembly. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

7 Air Bag problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/21/2024

Light blinks for (no airbag on passenger side) working. Light also blinks on dashboard showing no airbags. My car has just over 76,000 miles with meticulous maintenance and no crashes, accidents or even bumps. There are countless complaints, inquiries and threads on the internet regarding the above mentioned problem. I don't know if anyone has taken the time to make an official inquiry but it requires your scrutiny. The fix is a new seat and or an old one that the components still work. There are countless people drivng this vehicle without airbags. We need a fix that won't cost $10,000 (estimate from dealership). Also, where can one find a seat??? inifinity needs to provide a fix that allows the airbags to function properly without the consumer having to find a new/used seat (and none are available nationwide). The modules are a mere $200 but integrating them into a seat is impossible, so the "fix" is a new seat. This problem exists as the cars age. I project that all inifinities with this style seat have, or are going to have, the same problem as they age. If not, what remedy did infinity offer in its newer models, leaving the rest of us driving death traps, with no means or opportunity for safely find a "fix". Attached is a copy of the scan from an auto body delearship regarding the lights.

8 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 03/13/2024

My VIN # jn1cv6ap6bm507125 comes up as a 2 door 2011 Infiniti G37. Mines is a 4 door. The problem is the air bag light started to blink and the airbag light would show passenger airbag. I've researched enough about the takata air bag recall and the 2011 Infiniti G37 is a part of that recall. It's mind boggling just thinking about the dangers of my vehicle that I need to get to and from work daily as well putting anyone on the passenger seat. I don't even feel safe driving the vehicle anymore. Wbat can be done, its obvious it's not working properly.

12 Air Bag problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 12/28/2023

I am the original owner of this 2009 G37 sedan with only 12k miles. This car has never been in an accident. It is perfectly maintained and sits in a garage 99% of the time. Last week the airbag light flashed on. The dealer said the error code was b1018 (occupant classification sensor malfunction). The cost of the passenger seat cushion alone is $7,500. This problem was also found on the 2007 & 2008 G37 models and part of a NHTSA recall (#08v521000). I found this problem all over the internet and this NHTSA site for this model year G37. Please investigate this problem. Why isn't this part of the 2007/2008 recall when the sensor is bad in both instances?.

13 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti G37. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the air bags warning light remained illuminated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. 14 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 10/01/2023

Airbag warning light came on. Took the car to the dealer and they gave me an estimate of $10,858. 62 to repair the airbag! I feel that this is a defect and should be a recall item as I have since read several complaints of the same exact problem! this car has been kept in the garage and only driven when the weather is beautiful! it only has 29,100 miles on it. We bought it from the infinity dealer in annapolis, MD in 2012.

15 Air Bag problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/10/2023

Passenger airbag light continues to flash and shows disabled.

16 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/14/2023

The air bag sensor and lights indicated that the passenger side air bag was not operating. We took the vehicle to the Infiniti dealer and they did a diagnostic test and determined that the sensor in the passenger seat was not working. We were told that in the event of a collision that the air bags in the entire car would not deploy if the passenger air bag was not replaced. In order to have operating air bags the passenger seat would need to be replaced. The cost of the seat was 7,452. 84 and the labor was 525. 00. This repair was completed on 12/13/2021. It is now 7/18/23 and the passenger air bag light is now illuminated again. This repair is past the one year warranty. My wife is the only driver of this vehicle and rarely has anyone using the front passenger seat. There was a recall (number 08v522100) for this same issue fir 2007/08 g models. Please investigate this safety issue before someone is seriously injured due to this failure.

17 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/20/2023

Passenger side air bag sensor flashes possibility due to faulty sensor in passenger seat. Water enters cabin on passenger side causing water to pool on floorboards, possibly causing electrical damage and failure. Water entering could be due to flawed design in water channel or sunroof.

18 Air Bag problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/16/2023

The passenger airbag does not work. The light on the dashboard indicated it needed service. When I took it into the dealer, they said it was $7,000 to fix. (more than the car is worth for resale. ) after some research, I’ve come across complaints about this on multiple sites & comment boards. This is a serious safety issue. I can no longer have passengers in my car (such as my children). Something has to be done.

19 Air Bag problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/07/2023

At only 35,500 miles on my 2009 G37 the passenger safety air bag sensor light continues to blink. Forums are filled with same 2009 passenger safety air bag sensor problems. Infiniti will not cover. Suggested repair is $6,050. 00.

20 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/05/2023

I have been having issues with my passenger airbag warning light. The issue is warning light will not go out. I took my vehicle to an Infiniti dealer for a diagnostic. Dealer found code dtc b1018 OCS unit failure. Much to my disbelief and, dealer recommends new passenger side air bag diagnoses module and lower seat frame before further diagnosis. What really angered me was the price to repair a safety issue on this vehicle that wasn't caused by an accident or repair . The quoted module price was $1275. 00, price for lower seat frame is $7695. 00. Note, this is the price for parts and didn't include labor. At that point, I didn't ask what the labor cost was because I was flabbergasted and taken aback by the the excessively high price for repair. After reading 100's of forums, many are having the same issue with their Infinities and other Nissan vehicles. Infinity and NHTSA must be aware of this massive problem and Infiniti/Nissan needs to correct this flaw in engineering at the companies expense. We as consumers who pay a lot for these vehicles should be protected. My concern is I have lupus and arthritis and have chronic pain daily and need my car for numerous doctors visits. Since my health diagnosis I haven't been able to work the past seven years and can't afford to pay over $ 9000. 00 to fix a otherwise good running vehicle but also can't afford to get into a car accident because the airbag will not deploy. Since I do have an illness, a car accident without a working airbag system my injuries or worst would be exacerbated by this Infiniti/Nissan flaw in engineering. Please advise as I need assistance with getting my car repaired.

21 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 05/10/2023

I’ve owned this 2012 G37 for a few years and had no issues whatsoever. However within the last couple of months, my air bag light came on and has been flashing since. I’ve taken it to get inspected and had the system checked and was told my passenger seat occupant sensor malfunctioned and is throwing the code on. The sensor itself, very easily replaced, is unable to be bought by itself. Repairs by the dealership is well over 5,000 for the seat and labor. The sensor is being sold as a component part of the bottom build of the seat, and cannot be sold otherwise. The issue with the sensor not being active, prevents the activation of the passenger airbag regardless of the seat being occupied or not. My concerns are that I won’t be able to safely commute with passengers on the road and also being able to pass state inspection, as needed per law per state. Without this sensor, driving is an everyday peril, a safety concern a driver has no control over with other vehicles on the road. There has not been any prior incidents that have occurred that could cause this electronic issue.

22 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 04/29/2023

My son was driving the car and someone failed to yield in a roundabout and hit him. The passenger side curtain airbag deployed and popped. Now he has ringing in his ear and possible ear drum damage. Doctors appointment is scheduled to confirm that.

23 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 04/11/2023

Occupancy airbag sensor went on in vehicle and dealer stated that it would be about $5200 to fix the sensor as it is built into the seat. Per dealer- safety hazard not to fix as its not guaranteed to go off in case of an accident.

24 Air Bag problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 03/31/2023

This vehicle has been in our ownership since July 2011, making us the second owner. Currently there is approximately 92,219 miles on the car. The airbag light began blinking without any incident or accident. We took it to the local dealership this week. We were told the occupant sensor failure code b1018 was the issue. Per their words on our invoice "cannot get sensor from Infiniti. Will need seat bottom to correct the issue. " the estimated price for this repair is $6,400. I noticed the same problem was reported in the 2007 and 2008 models, and these models were recalled. So now I have no airbag protection which makes this a safety issue. I have spoke with Infiniti corporate office regarding this issue without any assistance in resolving the problem. In my opinion this is a manufacturing defect just as it was in the 2007 and 2008 models, and should be recalled.

25 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 11/30/2022

When I start my car the seatbelt lights doesn't go out as it should. I had issue checked and mechanic found front occupant sensor defective and sensor comes on with seat trac. Mechanic stated issue needs to be fixed because airbag won't deploy in an accident. My car only has 76,618 miles driven and this is a serious safety issue that must be rectified. Please advise.

26 Air Bag problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 11/14/2022

My dad gifted his 2009 infinity G37, which he purchased new, to my daughter. It has ~50,000 miles. One week into driving the car the air bag sign started flashing. Diagnosis indicated a b1018 error. Infinity of escondido confirmed a failed OCS sensor for front passenger seat. Replacement cost: part $4100 bottom cushion with frame + $650 labor. Since the car has been hardly driven since originally purchased by my dad, it is clearly a case of a defective sensor, also considering that infinity G37 2007 & 2008 model years have been recalled for the same issue (recall # 08v521000). The entire airbag system in the car has been disabled due to this faulty sensor - this should fall under federal safety mandate and infinity is refusing to assist. Called their consumer affairs department with case elevated to regional manager (case # 47724192) making a request to at least meet me halfway through cost of parts - their answer is sorry "no". Such complaints are prevalent across the internet with stories similar to mine and infinity is not taking responsibility.

27 Air Bag problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 11/01/2022

Single owner G37 sedan diagnosed with error code b1018 after reporting a flashing passenger air bag light that suddenly came on. Service provider unbolted seat, disconnected occupant sensor component, cleaned all connections, reconnected and secured so that connector couldn't move. Tried to erase code but unable to do do. Was told I would need a new bottom seat cushion and frame at a cost of approx $3-4k (not including labor). Advised to look at nhsta for recall information for myself as technician indicated there is no recall for my vehicle. My prior car was a G37 sedan which did have a recall for the exact same issue and it's illogical that this one does not. In reviewing this site, more than 50% of the complaints for this vehicle are tied to the air bags and I stopped reading other complaints when the first five I read all had the exact same issue. Namely, that the light came on suddenly without cause and the only way to correct it, was to replace the seat and sensor. Personally, there is rarely a passenger in my car and the only logical conclusion is that this part is faulty and the original G37 issue was not corrected. Subjecting consumers to the significant repair expense and more importantly, the inherent safety issue a faulty air bag can create, the manufacturer ought to bear the responsibility to correct.

28 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 09/26/2022

The occupant sensor in the front passenger seat has failed, rendering the supplemental restraint system (airbag) compromised and partially nonfunctional. Upon inspection, dealer states that they cannot ensure that entire srs will function properly unless repaired. The proposed solution is to replace the occupant sensor unit at a cost of $4,905. The srs indicator light remains on as I have not agreed with Infiniti dealer's proposed costly replacement. This puts the driver and any/all occupants at risk. There is a reasonable amount of internet discussion concerning this problem/safety issue with Infiniti.

29 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/15/2022

I first noticed this problem on August 15, 2022. The front passenger airbag off light on the dashboard is always illuminated when the car is started, with or without any occupant on the seat, which would indicate that the airbag in non-operational and will not deploy when needed. At the same time, the supplemental air bag warning light in the instrument panel is flashing. I have not brought my car to the dealer or any repair shop for inspection or repair. I just noticed similar complaints from other people in the internet for the same model year car and that the repair cost being qouted to them is upwards of $6000. 00. I am also aware of an on going recall of other Infiniti models for a faulty occupant classification sensor.

30 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/09/2022

Error code b1018 for occupant sensor unit failed. Infiniti of sarasota estimate is $11,013 to repair. Cannot justify spending that much but feel unsafe with airbag deployment. Need information on a resolution.

31 Air Bag problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

Passenger occupancy sensor failed while on a road trip. The dealer wanted $5000 to replace the whole seat.

32 Air Bag problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/14/2022

The airbag control module can be damaged through normal use. Simply disconnecting the battery can damage the module, which then causes the airbag malfunction light on the instrument cluster to turn on. It is unclear weather or not the airbag will function when this occurs. Presumably, it will not. The dealer solution for this is to replace the module, at a cost of over $1000. Fortunately, it is possible to remove the module and send it to a 3rd party who can reflash a chip. However, doing this every time a random electrical glitch (common ) causes the warning system to trip is dangerous.

33 Air Bag problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/15/2022

The passenger air bag light is on and flashing and all my controls for my steering wheel have stopped working including my horn!.

34 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/10/2022

Brought my car in to fix a/c auto amp behind radio cause fuel gauge was not giving correct readings. . 2 days after receiving vehicle my airbag light turned on and is blinking and Infiniti won’t take responsibility and saying they have to fix diag sensor in center console which is 2400 dollars and if that don’t fix issue they have to replace passenger seat cushion which is 5000 dollars which is on back order and may not even be able to get part at all cause they don’t make part anymore. So I have a vehicle that I’m still paying on that will never pass inspection and it’s very upsetting that I have to take such a huge loss like this and don’t know how Infiniti is getting away with this when it should be recall. . I looked up on forums and seen dozens of complaints from ppl about the same exact issue specially after having the a/c auto amp fixed. . I also contact state and recall and they said that’s not right but they needs more complaints to do basic investigation. . I really hope something gets done about this.
