My 2011 Infiniti G37 passenger airbag light comes on and off even if there is no people sitting. And even with passengers the lights come on and off, im worried that one day something happens and the airbag wont deploy. I have done some research and I found out that there is a lot of people that have the same issues. In case of an accident airbag might not deploy, Infiniti has not issue a safety recall for the airbags, and there are complains from 2011 since it came out and there still no recalls in 2022.

A recall was issued for a faulty passenger side airbag sensor on the infinity G37 model year 2007 -2008 (08v521000). I own a 2009 G37 and it would appear this car is experiencing the same safety issue. The airbag off light for the front passenger seat remains illuminated even with a 200 pound adult seated in it. I also have a constantly flashing airbag warning that is displayed on the dashboard. I am extremely concerned that should my vehicle be involved in a crash, passenger side airbag will not deploy even though there is someone seated in that seat. Infiniti has stated that to repair this issue will cost over $5000 which is nearly the entire value of the car. This recall should be extended to additional model years of the G37.

My passenger air bag light started suddenly flashing on the instrument panel while a passenger was in the seat. The air bag light sensor shows the air bag isn’t on, even when a passenger is seated. This causes concern because if an accident occurs, it is likely the air bag will not deploy as it appears to be disabled by the sensor. The has been a widely reported problem and should be recalled due to faulty sensor.
Passenger front air bag not activating due to a faulty seat sensor. It puts the passenger at risk of air bags not deploying and potentially causing harm or death. This is a well known problem with this particular vehicle and cost 7000 plus to fix at dealership because the entire seat needs replaced. My airbag light has been blinking and when a passenger sits in the front seat. . . The airbag still shows as off. 7000 plus is a ridiculous amount when its something I believe should be corrected by a recall. . Read more...
Car got a flashing airbag light after battery replacement. Reset multiple times just for light to come back. Took to mears Nissan dealership for diagnosis. Diagnosed with bad occupant detection sensor. Dealership quoted me $4,500 for part without labor. Perfectly good car no longer has operating airbags, my personal safety is now at risk because the cost of repair is greater than the cars value, and the part is on back order for an extended unknown period of time. Vehicle is available for inspection. No other lights at time of incident.
My 2013 Infiniti G37 convertible has under 30,000 miles. The seat belt light/airbag warning light started flashing and did not turn off after seat belts were fastened. I called the mobile, al Infiniti dealer to get an appointment. They suggested because this was a saftey issue and they were so backed up that I take the vehicle to a Nissan dealer, which I did. The service department informed me that the sensor in the lower seat assemble was bad ad needed to be replaced (part number 87300jj84a). They then told me they did not have the labor cost yet but the part was over $8300. I started researching this problem on the internet and found this was common problem with many of the Nissan products.

On my 2009 Infiniti G37, the supplemental airbag warning light keeps flashing. I was told by the dealer that the problem is the sensors in the seat cushion and the cost of fixing it is $7,050. 00. I asked if that was a common problem and they said yes. This light just start flashing one day without any apparent cause. My issue is that there should be a recall on this since this affects so many of the Infiniti g series. This is a problem that so many owners face and it is not caused by wear and tear or accident or any disturbance whatsoever. In my case, my right front seat is seldom used. I searched the internet and visited the Infiniti forums and well as facebook and other platforms and the number of Infiniti owners with this woe are many. I honestly think this happens due to some manufacturers defect and if there is an accident, the appropriate airbags may not deploy so this is a potentially dangerous situation. Infiniti needs to issue a recall for this item.
Passenger air bag sensor is faulty, Infiniti suggested the only replacement is a new $8000 seat.
My air bag sensor on the dash came on, so I took it to the dealer. The dealer told me that my air bag sense is not working and that I would have to replace the entire seat for 9,000 dollars to fix. My car is a 2012 and is worth ~ 12,000 dollars. So obviously I cannot not have them replace seat. I started researching if there was an alternative fix and found this is a very common issue with Nissan and infinity on numerous makes and models, there are hundreds of posts where this is happening to owners of infinity and Nissan…. So why has this not been recalled as a safety issue? I can no longer have a passenger in my car. But my guess is there are lives being put at risk daily due to the sensor failure. This is extremely disappointing that this is how Nissan and infinity support the customers, our lives are at risk. Please consider looking into this as a safety recall for the hundreds of us that cannot invest in a 9,000 dollar seat to protect our lives.

The contact owns a 2010 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact later noticed that there was a crack in the dashboard. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they could repair the dashboard but not the air bags. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The seat sensor fails to detect passenger and does not activate the airbags even if a passenger is seated.
The contact owns a 2009 Infiniti G37x . The contact stated the passenger side air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed him the seat needed to be replaced. The passenger seat wiring and senor were bad. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000 .
I am writing the complaint to inform you and request an investigation into the Infiniti advanced air bag system (aabs) passenger seat sensor. I recently purchased a 2011 Infiniti G37x sedan with approximately 62,251 miles on June 28th, 2021. This vehicle has had one owner prior to me and has a clean carfax report with no issued accidents or collisions reported, based on the overall evaluation from an independent repair shop. The main issue experienced with the G37x vehicle and the reason for the manufacturer should create a safety recall was the air bag seat sensor was malfunctioning, as verified by an independent mechanic. I have experienced other vehicle manufacturers issue voluntary recalls and repairs because these passenger occupancy sensors may degrade and fail to detect a passenger in the front seat. This appears to be a very common recall issue. The fault code presented from the odb-ii confirmed to be the air bag seat sensor was malfunctioning and required to be replaced/repaired completely, or all the airbags would not deploy at all to the passenger and both the driver. I am therefore requesting that Infiniti/Nissan north America to investigate and note this experience/issue with the air bag seat sensor and issue a recall for this particular issue to the owners of such affected vehicles. I deem that there is a risk of many vehicles that are having a similar issue with the seat sensor which will cause the air bag system to not function properly in the event of an accident or collision when the air bag would needed to be deployed.
Airbag sensor bad. Due to poor design of location of sensor, the repair for this sensor involves the complete removal and replacement of the front passenger seat. The cost of the repair for this sensor estimate from dealership is $4200. Neither Infiniti nor Nissan will financially assist with this obscene repair cost due to design and location of sensor. Without this repair, no airbag in the car will work as intended. We were told that should the driver continue to drive the vehicle without the repair, the airbag could spontaneously deploy, potentially causing great bodily harm to driver and the public. The other issue that is likely to occur is that should the vehicle be involved in an accident, none of the airbags will deploy as intended. The car can not be driven at this time. The airbag light flickered and then stayed on beginning June 2022. The Infiniti dealership in clearwater, florida inspected the issue and diagnosed with repair estimate. They offer no other remedy nor any further financial assistance to repair this vehicle from regional nor corporate offices of both infinit and Nissan.
Air bag light is flashing, passenger side air bag not engaged. Available for inspection. This is an inherent safety risk for anyone sitting in passenger side front seat, I have to ask all of my passengers to sit in the back. Problem confirmed by two dealerships, with the second happily quoting over $4k to repair as the entire seat must be replaced. Light has been on for some time, online tips to reset have not worked.
The airbag light on the dash was flashing. The airbag light that indicates the passenger airbag is not on stays on even if a person is sitting in the passenger seat. This means that the airbag is not active when there is someone sitting in the passenger seat. If I got into an accident and the passenger airbag did not deploy, it could cause serious bodily injury to the passenger. The cost to repair is more than half of what the car is worth. In the picture, you can see the second item in the list is to replace the passenger seat sensor.
Approximately 2 months ago, the air bag warning light on the dash started flashing along with the icon on the front display warning about the passenger side airbag being off. There was no person sitting in the seat, nor was there any small items on the passenger seat. I looked up online how to reset the dash warning light and this worked up until about one week ago. Also, when someone now sits in the passenger seat, the warning light starts flashing along with the front display warning of the passenger side airbag being off. This would seem like a manufacturer defect and a safety hazard for any front passenger in my vehicle.
Passenger side airbag sensor has failed - this is a serious threat to human life in case of an accident and I'm pretty sure this is illegal. I purchased the car March 2021 from a dealer in san jose, and this did not show on the carfax report, nor did the dealer inform me of this defect. Based on my research this is a common problem with other G37's of the same year and into 2011. Infiniti of beaverton, or has quoted $7,000. 00 to repair which is a little less than half the cost of the car's value. Infiniti should be responsible for this as it is a serious defect and is a life threatening safety issue!.
My passenger seat belt light started blinking and the dealer said I needed a new chip in the seat at a cost of $8,000. I went online to see what other Infiniti car owners were experiencing and it turns out this is happening with all their cars. I can not tell if the airbag is working or will work if I have an accident. This seems like it should be covered by a recall. Please advise.
Passenger air bag constantly blinks. After looking up this issue I see many have had the same problem with this year model and prior year models.
The air bag warning light for the passenger air bag on my 2013 Infiniti G37 is constantly flashing on my dash and the passenger air bag off message is always on in my vehicle, even when my wife is sitting in the seat, and I have not had an accident. The light just started flashing on its own approximately 6 months ago. This would seem to me to be a legitimate safety issue. If I were in an accident, regardless of whose fault, and my wife was in the passenger's seat, she could sustain serious injuries due to the fact that the passenger air bag did not deploy due to a faulty sensor.
Air bag light indicator on dashboard continually flashes off and on…no reason for it to be doing so; I. E. , the vehicle has had no impact to cause it to flash.

Passenger side airbag flashes often.
The air bag sensor on the passenger seat has failed and the passenger seat does not recognize even an adult person sitting on it. As a result the airbag-off light for the passenger is always on and I am afraid if the rest of the airbags are working properly due to this faulty sensor. I looked up online after my sensor failed and it seems like this is a common issue for G37 vehicles. The only option to fix the problem is to replace the entire seat at a cost of anywhere from $6,500 to $8,500. My wife is afraid to ride in the car with me for fear the airbag will not deploy. There was no warning prior to the light flashing on the dash.
The contact owns 2009 Infiniti G37. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the passenger’s side air bag sensor was damaged and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the part to fix the vehicle was no longer being manufactured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage approximately 100,000.
Srs air bag light continues to flash after the vehicle is running. This causes the passenger airbag to stay off even if a passenger is buckled in the seat.
My car has a light on which refers to the passenger airbag.

The passenger airbag off light turns on even if a passenger is sitting in passenger seat . I checked with inifiti and they say everything is fine but I still see the issue. In worst case if I met with an accident the passenger airbag might not open up. Can cause fatalities . I'm having this issue since 2 years.
The seatbelt light started flashing and wont turn off.
Same as everyone else on here. Blinking dashboard light out of nowhere, over 7k to fix but can't explain why or if that will 100% fix an issue. Vehicle is over 100k miles but have never seen this with another car like this. Really cheap, and huge lack of safety awareness by the company.
The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the air bag sensor warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, provided no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.
In 2018 dash and passenger airbag light illuminated. Took it to dealer and was told that occupancy sensor in passenger seat needed to be replaced. In 2021 dash airbag light flashing and passenger airbag light off illuminated. Code determined occupancy sensor. Cost to repair basic car safety feature $7000. 00 which is prohibitive.
Airbags is not working. Nissan dealer is asking $7,000. 00 to replace it with new one.
Air bag system is not working at all times.
