Passenger seat sensor has failed, causing the system to be inoperative. Based on research, this is a common problem which was addressed on some Nissan/Infiniti models, but not the G37 convertible. The cost to repair is prohibitive at $9000.

The air bag sensor on the passenger seat has failed and the passenger seat does not recognize even an adult person sitting on it. As a result the airbag-off light for the passenger is always on and I am afraid if the rest of the airbags are working properly due to this faulty sensor. I looked up online after my sensor failed and it seems like this is a common issue for G37 vehicles. Nissan seems to have aleady had a recall for faulty airbag sensors for model year 2007-2008 but it looks like the issue hasn't been completely resolved in vehicles from subsequent model years too.

Faulty passenger airbag sensor. This is a huge safety concern, and having to pay $6000 to fix it is just ridiculous.
Air bag passenger sensor defective, very common occurrence with Nissan/Infiniti vehicles. Sensor fails randomly.

Airbag sensor was blinking on my dash after starting it in my driveway to drive to work. I took it in to an infinity dealership and only to find out it was a seat sensor to be replace with only 40k miles on the vehicle. The part alone cost $6340. 00 which isn't worth fixing. I wasn't told of any other option and seems to have happened a lot with other owners and no recall of any sort is to be issued.
Need to replace either occupant classification system control unit which is part of the lower seat assembly. Cost approx. 4000 to 5000 thousand dollars or replace air bag diagnosis sensor unit which is under center console. Cost approx. 1700 dollars. Cannot tell me which one to replace. Car has 34000 miles on it. Internet tells me that this a common problem with this vehicle.
Faulty passenger airbag sensor. Infiniti is aware of the prevalent problem but will not issue a recall. The passenger air bag is deactivated even with adult passengers in the passenger seat. This is a major safety issue. I took the vehicle to the Infiniti dealer for repair and they said it would cost $9,000. 00 to repair. This is an outrage and several other owners have experienced this same issue.
Passenger airbag not active light on dashboard on all the time regardless if someone is sitting in the seat with seat belt latched . I have 25,500 miles on the vehicle and I am concerned the passenger is at risk if the airbag will not operate in a crash. Seat sensor defective per on-line forums and a $6,000. 00 fix to replace passenger seat w sensor built in to correct it.
Infiniti G37 convertible year 2012, with 11,400 miles (secondary car very low miles) displayed passenger airbag error/will not deploy airbag in a crash. The car was started and the display light never went off and has stay on every since while driving. Took the car to westhouston Infiniti service one week later and was told a sensor was bad and that the entire seat would require replacement at a cost of 6k (my seat is almost brand new). I questioned why I should have to pay for what is surly a design flaw and the price is outrageous. I decline as that price was not doable and contacted Infiniti consumer affairs who listen to state issue and sent an email that no assistance would be given due to warranty had expired. I can't afford to replace an entire seat for a sensor. I'm trying to understand why this is not their responsibility as I know others with the same issue. My firm position is no car company should be allow to require consumers to bare the burden of poor engineering.
Passenger airbag sensor blinks continuously. Brought to dealership and was told entire seat must be replaced. Price for seat is more than what the car is worth. So passenger will not be protected in case of accident.
Air bag dashboard light began flashing and would not turn off, regardless of whether anyone was in the passenger seat. Fault code b1018 shown when car taken to shop. No way to repair other than to replace the entire sensor and passenger seat cushion, which is quoted at $5000-$6000 from the manufacturer for parts. There is no reason that a defective passenger-side seat sensor should disable all the airbags in the vehicle. This strongly deserves a recall, as it seems to have suddenly been happening to large numbers of 2009 G37s this year. This defect puts the driver at significant risk even though his/her own airbag and all other airbag sensors should still function normally.
Passenger airbag occupancy sensor fails randomly with passenger weighing 130+ pounds properly position in the seat and the car in motion on highways, and city streets. The problem is indicated by the "airbag off" light remaining lit while a passenger weighing 130+ pounds is properly positioned in the passenger seat. Turns, speed, and road condition don't seem to alter the outcome.

The airbag control unit and sensor needs to be replaced. Looking online this seems to be a common issue and there have been recalls for the same issue on different models/years. The parts for this are extremely expensive, $6,800 is the quote I received from Nissan.
B1018 dtc code for a failed occupancy sensor. Many many reported faults and Infiniti chooses to ignore the serious problem. In most cases, the repair is $6,000+. Sometimes 80-90% of true vehicle's market value.
Air bag sensor fault in passenger seat. Air bag sensor does not work correctly, causing airbag to be inactive for all occupants of passenger seat. Infiniti does not offer a sensible fix. The only way to repair is to replace the entire seat ($8000). This is a safety issue that should be under warranty no matter the age of the car. I have found repeated evidence of this occuring often through looking at forums and websites that own this model and year.
My passenger seat weight sensor is malfunctioning going on and off at various times into the drive and various weighted passengers. This seems to be a very common problem on my 2012 G37 sport and the seat (sensor cannot be changed out so have to buy the whole seat) ranges between $5000 and $8000. This seems to me to be a safety issue, what were to happen if any one of us having this issue were to get into an accident with a passenger? from what ive read the passenger air bag will not go off with this light on so therefore my passengers safety is at risk because of a very common issue from infinity. Light goes on and off even sitting stationary.
Around 6am on 4/13/19 me and my family and neighbors were awoken by an explosion in the front end of my vehicle. . We called the fire dept and they ruled it as an electrical problem. . I noticed that all the sensor lights in the dash would blink and the airbag sensor light was going off that evening prior to the incident. . I didnt think much of it. . I was planning on taking it to a mechanic that morning but it caught on fire. . Its a total loss. The fire fighters had to cut the hood open in half to get to the fire in the engine compartment. . Its not fair. . I had just bought that car. . And I loved my infinity. . Luckily I wasnt injured or anyone else. The vehicle was parked in the street. . I need my car for work , school and on a regular basis. Please help me.

The passenger airbag sensor remains off even when an adult is sitting in the seat. Infinite doesn't consider it a safety issue even though many of their G37 models have this issue so no recall. The only fix is to replace the seat for$6,000 or more on a car worth $8,000 now.
Car has 59,000 miles and airbag code reading b1018 of a faulty passenger occupant sensor. Dealer was $4,000 just for the part. The car is valued at roughly $9,000.
Drivers side door airbag had to be replaced and also the passenger seat occupancy sensor is bad and the seat needs to be replaced. These items were diagnosed at 55,000 miles on the car.
Airbag passenger seat sensor is faulty. Airbag system remains off even with no one in the seat. There are hundreds of people on forums reporting the same problem. Dealer suggested replacing the entire seat for $10,000. This is a safety issue that needs to be recalled.
Takata recall my car battery died to I had to charge it up and as soon as I got it too start the airbag sensor light came on for the front passenger seat. After multiple attempts to restart it, still failed and once someone sit on the seat it come right back on if not anyone on the seat as well.
Takata recall: Infiniti recalled an entire line of cars with faulty air bags/seat sensors, but did not cover all cars. I have a 2011 Infiniti G37x with only 50k miles that I am being charged 7k to replace a seat cushion that has a failed sensor. This problem is widely known in a significant number of Infinitis, yet the manufacturer will not repair obviouly faulty parts that were installed. This presents a massive saftey issue if I cannot afford a repair that I should never have to make. Name another car of any make/model that has seat cusions fail. It is disgusting that Infiniti will not correct their error, and worse that a government agency that is aware of the problem doesnt support buyers who are obviously being taken advantage of.
Passenger air bag sensor randomly will illuminate (reflecting system off) when adult is present in seat. Unable to locate recall but have heard this being an issue on forums with same model.
Airbag sensor faulty in passenger seat. Known issue among Infiniti owners. Infiniti dealers stating that seat must be replaced, which costs upwards of $5000. Car only has 32k miles on it.
The passenger airbag is disabled when an adult is sitting in the seat. The light comes on noting that it is disabled and then turns off. This happens multiple times. The adult weighs enough to trigger that sensor to not disable the airbag. This is a serious fault in the sensor and should be recalled immediately.
Air bag sensor suddenly come on. It cost $500 to diagnose that it was "probably" the sensor of the passenger seat. Cost to repair estimated at $5000. I see that this is a more common problem than Nissan admits. It should be recalled as others have. Not sure why it hasn't been. The car is worth less than $10,000. So I'm driving it in an unsafe condition but have no other choice financially.
I have been notified by the dealer that the airbag sensor is 'out' and will need to be replaced at a cost of $2200. That is roughly 25% of the car's value.
My complaint is in regards to the unavailability of an airbag replacement part. I ordered a new passenger seat airbag sensor for our infinity G37 on may 23. The part has been on backorder since then, with the latest expected ship date(not arrival or repair date) being August 31, which is over three months! the dealership says that if one part of the airbag system has a fault, then the whole airbag system is disabled. So, I am driving a car with no airbags because the vehicle manufacturer doesn't have the part currently available, with no other solution given. This is after waiting for a month to get the inflated replacement cost lowered. For a part that compromises the safety of myself and any passengers, I find this delay unexceptable. The dealership can't do anything about it, so I filed a complaint with infinity consumer affairs. All they could do was confirm the expected ship date, and document my complaint.
Takata recall: flashing airbag signal on the dash after minor collision while standing in traffic. Collision center states it's not due to the collision as the front of the car air bag sensors are functional and not damaged. They state the passenger seat sensor for the airbag has malfunctioned. Sounds like this has happened to several other G37's. Hopefully is enough people voice their complaints then a recall will be initiated. I can't bear the thought of a loved one getting hurt because the sensor is not working and people can't afford to fix it.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that after re-charging the car battery the air bag sensor light remained illuminated and continued to flash off and on. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer Nissan of richmond located in richmond, va was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,000. Jft.
A light came on saying the passenger seat air bag was not working. The vehicle was sitting still and the light continued while the vehicle was in motion. I took the car to an Infiniti dealer and he said the entire seat would have to be replaced to fix the sensor for an excessive cost of of $6,711. 08. This has been fixed on 2012 and later models, but there are thousands of 2008 - 2011 models out there that can incur this ridiculous high cost and owners have no idea of what it may cost tomorrow.
Infiniti should recall all affected G37 passenger air bag sensors. My Infiniti G37 journey sedan has an issue of "passenger airbag off light" turning on when even an adult sits on the passenger seat while the vehicle is moving. It seems like the speed of the vehicle does not change the result. The light does not come on all the time but it does come on often enough to concern me. My wife is about 110 pounds and the airbag sensor should detect her as an adult and it should activate in case of a collision. However, when the "passenger airbag off" light is on when an adult sits in the passenger seat, it is a safety issue and Infiniti should address it to insure basic safety of its occupants. . Takata recall, my car has experienced total shut down of airbags due to a faulty sensor in the passenger seat. After online research I have discovered that this is a quite common occurence and creates a public safety hazard. Due to the high cost of repair, $5000+, many citizens do not have the problem fixed, thus driving without any airbag protection. Also many people are reporting that soon after buying a used Nissan product that the same problem occurs. I think this could lead one to believe that this is a quite common problem underreported by the primary parties. This along with the fact of excessive repair cost is , in my opinion, is creating an unnecessary public safety hazard which warrants further investigation. I thank you for the opportunity to allow you to receive my concerns.
