Infiniti G37 owners have reported 3 problems related to automatic transmission control module (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I was on the highway traveling about 60-65 mph and a truck merged, I slowed then decided to pass as it was a larger type truck and slow to merge, when I stepped on the gas. . . Nothing happened. The vehicle seemed to have gone into neutral like space and I had no gear and I was half in the passing lane. I have an automatic transmission. I took my foot off the gas and it finally appeared to catch, but I thought I was going to crash. I did have shift and lag issues and just got a tcm update 05/25/2019 which appears to have solved the other problems, but I am afraid to pass on the highway because I am not sure if this issue was the same as the lagging at lower speeds and rough downshifting.

Ect: automatic transmission control logic / adaptive shift pattern:
the vehicle does not produce consistent and reliable response to throttle command when accelerating into and around traffic. On several instances, when pulling out of a driveway into oncoming arterial traffic, there has been no response to throttle input. A delay of 2 ~ 4 seconds has occurred and creates an extremely hazardous situation. This fault has also occurred at freeway speeds when attempting to pass from speeds between 40 & 75 mph!
this behavior was not occur initially, until the car had about 3,000 miles. I have contacted Infiniti USA, and kept an appointment with a regional customer service rep. Along with a dealer service manager in tacoma, wa last December. The outcome of this dialog was that the vehicle did not exhibit the "fault" on that test drive, the manufacturer is aware of "some customer concerns regarding the 7-speed at behavior", and that there is no service bulletin as-yet to resolve such a fault. The regional rep. Did suggest that (un-officially), there is an effort seeking to release a service bulletin update in the form of a pcm / tcm flash of rom data (mapping) to resolve the ongoing complaints of un-reliable transmission & power train response behaviors. There have already been 2 such service bulletins to resolve other minor annoyance behaviors regarding shift quality, but not for this gross lack of command / control. I have not heard back from Infiniti USA / 3 months. I believe this is a serious safety hazard and would like the us-dot / NHTSA to pursue this issue with Nissan motors corp. / Infiniti USA to mandate an effective resolution.

Transmission: transmission does not operate properly. Harsh downshifting (usually around 30-40 mph) began within first two months of ownership and continues to this day. Significant lag (2-3 seconds) occurs when accelerating while moving or while nearly stopped creating unsafe driving conditions when entering an intersection, merging into traffic, or accelerating to avoid a collision. Service bulletins have been issued by manufacturer and applied to vehicle in attempt to address problems (ecm/tcm reprogrammings), however, problems persist and are constant. Initially, manufacturer communicated with me in attempt to resolve problems, including a commitment to replace transmission, but has now ceased communication. Automobile forums and manufacturer service bulletins indicate this is a widely known, widely experienced problem with this model of transmission. It appears manufacturer is no longer committed to resolving these problems. Air bags: passenger side air bag signal will illuminate indicating passenger side air bag is deactivated although there is an adult passenger in the seat. If the passenger lifts off the seat for 10 seconds, the illumination will cease and presumably the passenger air bag is once again activated, however, sometimes the signal will again illuminate and the passenger must again lift off the seat to cease illumination to ensure proper operation of passenger side air bag. Proper operation of the passenger side air bag is uncertain. The manufacturer told me they would contact dealership in order to diagnose this problem but they have not done so.
