1 Power Train problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 10/01/2022

I was driving at about 65 mph on the tail end of a roughly 2 hour trip. The car shut off on me completely. Fortunately there weren't many cars on the road, so I was able to force the steering wheel - since power steering went out as well, I needed to turn the wheel forcefully - to the shoulder. The brakes worked ok, but not well, again because the engine shut off, so I was forcing the brakes and they took a lot longer to work than normally. Had there been normal to heavy traffic, I'd definitely have been in a very bad crash. The vehicle is available for inspection if needed. This is the second time this situation has occurred to me in this vehicle. There was no warning lamp, message, or symptom prior to or after the incident. A dealer, manufacturer, police, insurance, nor anyone else has inspected or reproduced the problem. Various Infiniti online forums reference the same issue.

3 Power Train problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 09/15/2021

The contact owns a 2013 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the vehicle hesitated upon depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a dealer where they replaced the transmission valve battery. Soon after the repair, the contact stated that the vehicle would hesitate without warning upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact took the vehicle back to dealer and was informed that the control valve assembly and the speed sensor also needed to be replaced. The contact drove the vehicle home and replaced the control valve assembly himself. After the repair, the contact stated that while driving up an incline, the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator without warning. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

4 Power Train problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 11/18/2019

After 60k miles, the car has difficulty shifting in reverse. Once in reverse, the car doesn't roll back and it remains idle as if left in park. A foreign transmission repair shop owner said that this issue is not user error, and that Nissan/Infiniti have not been having ongoing trans issues with many of their models, but refuse to claim responsibility for most. Nissan/Infiniti USA will easily goad customers into paying $8k to install a new trans, however.

5 Power Train problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 10/02/2019

Between 40-50 mph, on a busy rural highway, the car would occasionally (once in 3 months) go into limp mode. This problem is now occurring weekly! you cannot accelerate more 2,000 rpms when this happens. You can manually shift the transmission to a higher gear to get to a safe spot to pull over. However, it feels like the transmission might fall out of the car when shifting. Most of the time, when you cut the car off and restart it, it runs as normal. It's like the computer resets. As of late, I have to cut the car off and restart twice. This is beginning to happen more frequently, like once or twice a week. We have consulted with a dealer, and have tried several recommendations. We have new air filters and mas air sensors. This did not correct the problem. After further investigation, we found a dealership who admitted that they have seen or heard of this problem. The service advisor said that this could be a transmission issue. We have an appointment on 12-13-2019 with this dealership.

6 Power Train problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

Infiniti needs to recall the timing chain galley gaskets. My 2009 G37xs sedan recently blew the galley gaskets and it seems as if this is a common problem and is a very expensive fix. Recall this issue please I always use 93 gas. Always use mobil 1 full synthetic oil, and always do all maintenance on the car on time. I'm shocked and aggravated that this issue happened and Infiniti did not recall it.

7 Power Train problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 09/21/2018

Dashboard has become tacky and highly reflective causing a severe glare when the sun hits it. Vehicle surges while coming to a stop. Enough to hit something if you do not have the brake pedal pressed abnormally hard.

8 Power Train problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 03/15/2017

Clutch would not go back up. Csc failed I guess it's a common problem in G37s and 370z that are manual. Happened in the middle of traffic worst time possible didn't know what to do so I pushed my car to the side of the road. Not the best image you want people to see when your driving a Infiniti.

9 Power Train problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/29/2016

I have had my car serviced twice for unable to crank when I put the key in the ignition,. There is a 30 - 45 second delay before the car crank. I am still experiencing this problem. My car only has 1400 miles on it. Yes, 1, 400 miles.

10 Power Train problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 05/16/2016

This vehicle has a generic problem with acceleration: under some circumstances, especially at low speed when the accelerator pedal is pushed hard for rapid acceleration, the car will not accelerate, but hesitate, for almost 2 seconds, before finally accelerating. In some circumstances, this can be a serious safety issue: merging into (rapidly moving) traffic, seeking to cross an intersection, striving to avoid inattentive or careless drivers, etc. I have complained about this repeatedly to the dealership. They say it is a transmission issue, but they admit it is a known issue. Yet nothing has been done. I regard this as so serious that I am ready to sell the vehicle (tho we like it in every other respect): an oncoming train, or any other vehicle traveling 60 mph, travels 176 feet in 2 seconds, while we are sitting in the car going nowhere. !.

11 Power Train problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/07/2015

I was coming out from the freeway at the traffic light the car completely shutdown, and it will not start. First I called for aaa to tow it, once he came the driver checked the battery and he told me the battery was fine, then he told me the engine is gone. And then I called the dealer to check if this is a recall, or anything and I was told the power train was expired. I have no indication of any heating, or any engine lights, everything was working fine. I do the maintenance as recommended by infinity book. The this vehicle has low mileage 2009 year made and I don't drive much. I searched online and there are so many people suffer exactly like me.

12 Power Train problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 02/04/2015

Hydraulic clutch fluid overheating causing catastrophic clutch piston failure resulting in not being able to engage, shift, or most importantly disengage the current drive gear in motion. The safety condition of not being able to disengage the operation of the vehicle puts the occupants at risk by limiting the ability to prevent collision. I have experienced this failure approximately every 20,000 miles, leaving the vehicle stranded on the highway with each occurrence of the event.

13 Power Train problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 12/19/2014

Driving the car in parking lot at work, placed car in reverse as the clutch was being released the car stalled out and shut off. The clutch bottomed out to the floor board and remained there. Car was unable to be driven. Was towed to auto shop to find out the slave cylinder requires to be changed.

14 Power Train problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

As with innumerable owners of this 6 speed manual transmission (6mt), I am consistently experiencing a grinding and crunching sound/feeling when shifting into 5th gear at normal speeds. Unless I very slowly (granny shift) or double clutch, this grinding/crunching sound will be heard and felt. According to web searches, this transmission damaging issue has been reported by many other customers and acknowledged/repaired by Infiniti under warranty when customer is persistent.

15 Power Train problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/23/2013

My vehicle's clutch completely lost its hydraulic capability and left my vehicle stranded in ongoing traffic. Me and a few volunteers were able to push my vehicle in neutral mode to the side of the road, however this could be warranted as a big safety concern if it is common occurrence for this make, model, and year. I had my vehicle towed the next day to an auto shop and they determined the clutch and slave cylinder were both faulty. Though wear and tear may be common for this part, after doing research on online forums this seems to be a common issue with Infiniti G37's.

16 Power Train problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 09/15/2012

2008 Infiniti G37s with a 5 speed automatic transmission with 41,000 miles - I was entering the freeway going about 55 mph and there was an 18 wheeler in front of me having a hard time picking up speed. Before passing, I tapped my brake, downshifted from 4th to 3rd gear with my left paddle shifter near the steering wheel and proceeded to get in the lane to the left of the merging lane onto the freeway. I was halfway in the lane and hit the gas but there was no response for 3-5 seconds. I had cars coming up behind me at 65-70 mph and my cars transmission was lagging, it was basically in neutral when I needed to go immediately, there was no response when I hit the gas, 2 cars almost hit me as my car decelerated to almost 45 mph. This has happened numerous times and is very dangerous. When the car does finally respond, it slams into gear unexpectedly and is sometimes hard to control. Please help us to resolve this issue or somebody will eventually get hurt if they already haven't. I have spoken to numerous Infiniti owners and it seems that this is happening to them as well but only the same year as my car, 2008, and only the automatic transmissions.

17 Power Train problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/07/2012

Did not bring back the gear to park and pressed the start button. Left the vehicle not hearing the very weak signal. Wrote to manufacturer about this design issue. They did not care, even they responded that it is the way it is designed. Any driver with european or manual gear background will make the same mistake. The car was positioned on a slope, in a garage after I arrived at my destination. An agent had the reflex to jump in the car (I left the door opened) and stop the vehicle. Without this initiative, the car would have crashed against another car down the slope (very steep in a new york garage) and get the whole front crashed and the other car's side. But in a street anywhere, it can just kill someone!.

18 Power Train problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 03/14/2012

I understand the cars symptoms are the same described in Infiniti's itb07048 bulletin (sudden acceleration), I was told the fix is free in the us but Infiniti in puerto rico wants to charge for this safety issue fix. I understand puerto rico has the same regulations as in the us when transit is referred to. Why is it not a recall?.

19 Power Train problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 09/02/2011

The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti G37 sedan. The contact stated that when attempting to accelerate at approximately 20 mh, the vehicle would exhibit a one second delay before responding. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the nature of the problem could not be corrected due to it being a normal characteristic of how the vehicle was designed to operate. The current mileage was 3,400 and the failure mileage was 500.

20 Power Train problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/28/2011

I purchased a new 2011 Infiniti G37x from salerno duane rt 10 denville NJ. About 1 month into ownership of the car I had the car parked in my driveway running while I walked to the end of the driveway to pick up garbage cans. I heard a crash , I found the car crashed into my garage doing damage to the car , my garage wall and my son's bike. The car was still in park when I found it . I feel there is a something wrong with the car my driveway is flat and I want to know why this happened. I want the car repaired or replaced.

21 Power Train problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/24/2010

Apparently on 2009 Infiniti G37s, there is a programming error/deficiency in the electronic engine control module (ecm) affecting the processing of the mass flow rate sensor that will cause the engine to unexpectedly (and without a dash warning indicator) to lose power. At occurrence of the failure, the car will decelerate from highway speed to less than 35 mph within a few seconds. Following the failure, the engine rpm will not exceed 2,400 rpm and speeds above 35 mph are impossible (I found that 4th gear is the highest gear selectable). This failure can be dangerous in a number of traffic situations. I have learned from an Infiniti service dept. That the failure will temporarily correct itself if the engine is turned off for a period of time, but that the failure could reoccur. The car's ecm was re-programmed by towbin Infiniti (las vegas, nv) on August 30 and that supposedly fixes the failure. While at towbin, the service man said that Infiniti knows of the problem, but is waiting to see how wide-spread the problem is. Owners have not been told of this problem. Towbin service said they have seen about 300 cases of the problem. A salt lake city dealer service dept. Had also heard of this problem. Again, I feel this problem can be dangerous, because: if it were to occur in heavy traffic, it may be difficult to get out of the way of others; if it were to occur when turning in front of oncoming traffic; after it occurs, there is no way to keep up with higher speed traffic - one is left going slow and hoping no one rear ends me; without more information, I have no way of knowing if the problem has really been fixed.

22 Power Train problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/04/2010

When accelerating from a stop or at speed, the car hesitates/stalls then accelerates rapidly. This has happened 7 times in the last few months. Infiniti could not duplicate the issue 1 time and said there is no problem.

23 Power Train problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/15/2010

While stopped behind another vehicle, the car's engine revved continuously, and I had to press the brakes harder, lest hit the vehicle in front. I switched the automatic transmission into neutral until the traffic moved again.

24 Power Train problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 02/03/2010

I own a two-month old Infiniti G37x. When braking at highway speed, the engine does not seem to slow down as fast as it should. I brought this to my Infiniti dealer this week. They conducted tests on it and found that it "performs as designed. " however, they acknowledged that the transmission does not slow down when the brake is applied - that the engine is designed to "click down" from gear to gear. But when braking hard at a highway speed, the car does not slow down immediately because of this design. I've been driving for 33 years and have never before felt like the car was not going to stop when it needed to. This car gives me that feeling. I've had to stop quickly a couple of times on the highway and I did not feel as though I was in control of the car. Infiniti's tests seem to confirm this. However, they did not offer any sort of repair because, again, the car is reacting as designed. They did say that a software correction might occur in the future because corporate Infiniti is aware of this problem.
