I had my car sitting in my driveway detailing it. I've always took exceptional care of my vehicles and one thing I've always done was made sure the undercoating was top-notch. As I proceeded to undercoat the inside of the front fender wells on my 97 Qx4 I noticed some rust forming behind the strut tower. Some of it was flaky and some of it was raised rust. I took my scraper and lo and behold found a hole behind the strut tower. I continued to scrape and clean the hole and the area according to the recall campaign from infinity and I'm very concerned about vehicle safety and the rust behind the strut tower on drivers side. I have yet to check my passenger side since the driver side has issues I wanted to go ahead and notify you guys. I know there is a recall for the strut tower on Nissan pathfinders and Infiniti Qx4s 96 through 2004. I have a 96 pathfinder also that just last week I talked to a representative from Nissan north America and it still has a open recall concerning the strut tower. I live in tennessee and by the recall tennessee is not listed as one of the salt states but yet that is where my pathfinder is registered and it has a recall that needs to be performed on the strut tower so I'm wondering if my Qx4 which is a 97 model has had a recall performed on it or if the recall even concerns my Qx4 it clearly has rust behind the strut tower on the driver side and registered in tennessee. Please help me with this issue I had my seat belts replaced in my Qx4 6 months ago and when I had it in there I said something about checking my strut towers but on my ticket they gave me it doesn't list anything about them checking the strut towers campaign # r1109 NHTSA # 11v-244 applied vehicles 97-03 Qx4 (jr50) I need to know what my next action should be and whether or not this recall has been performed please help god bless and thank you very much.
Tl the contact owns a 1999 Infiniti Qx4. While driving 55 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 11v244000 (steering, suspension). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the front strut housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.
The SUV has been recalled for unusual rusting of the entire underside, the NHTSA said the struts may rust and break away from the body, that is happening. We called the Nissan dealer in winchester virginia, they lied and said there is no such recall.

Just bought the car used 5 months ago and it's not working due to strut housing and fuel filler tube recalls. I'm disabled and homeless currently and without the ability to drive my vehicle.
Bought a used car from a used car dealer with 1 previous owner. In 2011 a recall was supposedly done by indicating "inspected!" why wasn't the parts replaced?.

The contact owns a 2002 Infiniti Qx4. While the vehicle was with an independent mechanic for routine maintenance, the mechanic noticed that the driver's side strut housing was rusted and cracked. The independent mechanic alerted her of a recall for the strut housing and the manufacturer was contacted. The manufacturer confirmed that the vehicle was serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 11v244000 (steering, suspension) at fields Infiniti glencoe (2100 frontage rd, glencoe, IL 60022 (847) 998-5200). The dealer stated that a plate was installed on the strut housing. The contact took the vehicle to another independent mechanic who stated that it looked like no repairs were completed. The contact stated that both independent mechanics informed her that a plate needed to be installed in the strut housing, but the vehicle was not repaired. Upon purchasing the vehicle, the carfax report failed to identify the repair or failure to the strut housing. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

The contact owns a 2002 Infiniti Qx4. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver without warning. The contact called an unknown dealer and was informed that the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 11v244000 (steering, suspension) in 2012. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but did not offer any further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.
Serious corrosion on the frame. The passenger side of the vehicle where the control arm attaches to the frame is completely rusted out just beyond the strut mount recall location. The dealership deemed it not able to be fixed and was told by both the dealership and consumer affairs that its not their problem. While driving 55 mph I started hearing a knocking noise in the right front. Soon after the wheel started shaking while turning left. Knocking got worse and it started to sway uncontrollably while turning. Had it towed to dealership where it is still sitting and not able to be driven.

All 1997 thru 2003 frame suspension, suspension body panels were improperly undercoated to prevent rusting. Warning was issued in 2011, as third owner of vehicle, I was never notified. Causing imminent body harm and possibly death. Infinity was totally responsible for follow thru, and should be held responsible for my $20,000 loss, not to mention risk to my life. Thanks a lot you money mongers! you should be held responsible for failure of notification.
Massive rust of frame and unit body suspension components causing a sudden loss of steering, braking and control of vehicle without warning. The cause is no rust under coating, poor design, poor welds, prone to tear loose from firewall and frame causing catastrophic failure and possibly my own death. Then their refusal to compensate in any way for their design errors is unacceptable. There was a sudden drop of my vehicle height at the drivers side wheel almost causing loss of control. A warning letter available in 2011 was never sent to me, possibly making it possible to repair.
Accelerating grinding sound in back chassis. Steering is harder than usual. Im not getting the power to accelerate properly all the time. Eventually the problem with salt cause im in indiana too much salt on roads and I dont think things are sealed completely from manufacturers.
When driving the vehicle above 45 mph, the vehicle started shaking and swaying making it very difficult to keep the vehicle on the road. Took the vehicle to an Infiniti dealer who stated in their inspection report, "found passenger side frame rail mount (cradle to frame) broken and cracked". Verbally the dealer said that the car's frame "simply rusted apart. ".
My 13-year-old and severly rusted Infiniti 4wd SUV has been recalled for corrosion problems at the driver-side strut tower. I will be towing it to the dealership for an inspection because I'm afraid to drive it. My car has a fist-sized hole through the fender well in the area described in the recall notice, so it is probably not repairable. But my car also has a rusted out and severly weakened unibody frame at another critical area that would certainly cause a loss of control and probably a crash when it is finally stressed to the breaking point. This area is on the front passenger-side where the mounting pad for the a-frame rear pivot point attaches to the frame. I have made the dealership aware of this and sent them some pictures, and they referred me to the manufaqcturer's customer service representative. He told me that the dealership may refuse to do the recall repair, after evaluating my car, unless I have the "other damage" (which would render the car unsafe) repaired prior to their inspection. If they don't do the recall repair, or determine that it is beyond repair (based entirely on the area affected by the recall), my car may be disqualified from the repurchase program remedy. I may be required to tow my car off of their lot to avoid storage fees. This seems like a manufacturer loophole, they have the right to refuse to do the recall because of other problems, and disqualify my car for a remedy? they have accepted responsibility for the lack of corrosion protection in one critical area, but not for others? what could I, as a car owner, have done to prevent this damage? I feel it's the manufacturer that is at fault. A $35,000 car should last longer than 13 years! so I am submitting this complaint in case others have had the same problem as I and to help force the manufacturer to take ownership of this serious manufacturing flaw and issue a recall.
I bought a 1997 Infiniti from cars unlimited; owner rod carlye I bought 'as is'. Although dealer owner was non-integral, lied and told me vehicle was in good condition and safe, he is not liable under rule by the as is. Vehicle is extremely unsafe. I have taken the vehicle to over 6 mechanics by now. All tell me vehicle is extremely unsafe. I tried making it safer since I am stuck with it by changing the shocks and the trailer stabilizer bar after I learned it had been in an accident and the passenger side bar was bent. That by no means fixed the earthquake swaying and the awful rear end fish-tailing all over the road. Can't drive it in the rain. Can't get caught in the rain, it slides into other people's lanes. Cops look at me crazy as if I'm drunk. I drive 40 miles or less to keep from getting pulled over. The insurance company who handled the previous drivers' claim should have salvaged it. It looks super pretty on the outside. Will fool a lot of women into buying it. Not safe!.
I recently bought this car today and it was driving fine at low speeds, but until I accelerated over 40mph the rear back was swerving left to right after I release my foot off the gas. Almost had 4 crashes. Something in the rear is making the car swerve like its losing traction but only when it's released off the gas pedal. It was the biggest fatal part of experience within driving of my life. All I know is that it is pretty rusted on the strut areas since I checked if something was broken under the car. Low speeds around 30mph the car drives fine but higher speed its like, I have to keep accelerating to prevent the car from swerving in the rear. My life was endangered for 40 minutes of my life on the highway. Please contact me, this is a very dangerous situation I need to repair.
Tl-the contact owns a 2002 infinti Qx4. The contact stated while driving at low speeds the steering wheel was extremely difficult to maneuver and over a period of time became progressly worse. There were no prior warnings. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who was unable to locate a problem. There was a recall associated with the same defect under NHTSA campaign id number 11v244000 (steering , suspension) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000. Js.
At 6:45 a. M car traveling down freezeland road, linden, va at about 30mph. Weather conditions: clear, dry. Road conditions: no defects, oil or other traction faults that would cause accident. Qx4 as described by witness to police looked at though rear of vehicle body was acting independent of body frame. At this point driver could not recover, had no time to brake, steering would not respond. Qx4 would not respond and continued straight up an embankment, hit large bolder and flipped onto passenger side. Driver was pulled from vehicle by retired emt. Driver sustained right knee injuries including fracture to lower leg directly below knee, ligament damage still being evaluated. Driver was not given citation by virginia state police, due to driver and witness statements. State police indicated that it appeared to be a major mechanical failure. Police trooper indicated that 99 out of 100 driver in single vehicle accident would have received a ticket for wreckless driving. Car has been determined to be a total loss. It is currently in impound at a front royal lot.
The ignition key, at times, would not rotate so as to allow the driver to start the vehicle. Vehicle was repaired by an Infiniti dealer who could not explain what was wrong with the ignition key or assembly, or why the part failed. As a safety issue I asked Infiniti USA to look into the matter and they pretty much gave me the "brush-off" without any explanation. I see this a a major safety issue considering a person(s) could be stranded in any weather conditions if the ignition did not allow them to start the vehicle. If in a remote area a person could easily freeze to death without being able to start the vehicle. I don't believe the part should have failed considering the minimal amount of mileage on the vehicle at the time. This is not a normal part that a person could have maintained to have in a working condition, it is subject to failure at any given time based on what I have been told. This is not your normal item subject to wear and tear, it needs to be investigated further.
The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti Qx4. The contact stated the steering wheel became unresponsive while changing lanes. As a result the vehicle was involved in a rollover crash. A police report was filed and all four passengers in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. One of the passengers also sustained a dislocated shoulder. The vehicle was destroyed. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 95,000.
My SUV is Qx4 model 2002, id# jnrdr09y02w, the steering colum is the trouble. It was making squeeking noise for last several years, repaired again and again and again by infinity of memphis, paying myself, but the noise will not go away, but was told by infinity of memphis, not to worry about it, as, their computer says, my car is ok. We always take our car for servicing there only as we live in memphis and they are my dealer. On 2/9/2011 pm, while driving straight, the steering did not act right. The car turned left, hit the curb, barely missing hitting an on coming vehicle on my left, bursted the left front tire slicing side of it on the edge of the curb, hit left front corner of vehicle, popping up the left fog light, then on backing up, hit the right back side of the car on something. The tire was changed to spare one, then a brand new tire. The incidence was reported to infinity of memphis on 2/10/2011 and I delivered the car to them . The car does not ride well, makes the squeeking sound at steering still and does not act right. We are a family of physicians, need dependable car. The infinity makes great cars, we own another infinity sedan also. Please help us in fixing up the steering colum of this SUV-qx4,2002 model, as it is not safe to drive this particular vehicle any more. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Sincerely,.
The contact owns a 1999 Infiniti Qx4. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact lost control of the steering causing him to crash into a pole. The vehicle sustained damage to the front driver side. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to an auto shop where the mechanic advised that the steering shaft had fractured and caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 199,000.
The contact owns a 2001 Infiniti Qx4. While driving approximately 15 mph, the contact stated that the steering wheel became loose and difficult to control. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where they performed a diagnostic test which confirmed that the steering shaft needed to be replaced. The contact did not inform the manufacturer nor was the vehicle repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 162,000.
Drivers side shock tower broke (I believe due to ohio salt and weather corrosion) broke steering intermediate shaft and caused complete loss of steering. At that time I informed the local Infiniti dealer, and Infiniti customer service, supplied them with numerous photos, because of the potential safety issue and basically was told by both to bad, and that it was my problem they where not interested in the safety issue.
Had a recall on our car and when we called to tell them we had had it fixed they wanted us to take it to thier dealer which the closest one to us is over 300 miles and impossible for us to do I am on disability and can barley survive on what I get and there is no way possible for me to be able to afford to travel this distance money wise they are supposed to reinburst me for the repair expences but wont if I cant get it to thier dealer. I had it repaired in August 2010 the exact recall wording was for front drivers side strut tower housing I couldnt find this in your list and when I called the number thatis when she told us about the fuel line problem.
While on interstate 10, the Qx4 shakes uncontrollably while driving at higher speeds and the steering wheel does not turn in portion to the rotation of turning the wheel. Changed the struts in the front and the back and shocks without any progress.
Vehicle slid on black ice down a very steep road, lost control, and went up a mountain wall, flipped over, and hit a tlelphone pole. Car hit dead center, and the airbags did not deploy.
